Hi Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. She must have been so supportive of you during your transition. I imagine that she must have been so proud of you growing into such a beautiful daughter. Being there for your Dad and Sister will help all of you stay strong, especially at this time of increased isolation.

It should be mentioned really that there is a particular element within the trans community in the uk overall. One which is rather unpleasant and abusive to people who are worried about womens spaces. But they are easily avoided simply by not engaging.

Sorry to hear this. Just letting you know that things eventually become tolerable. There will be challenges but you have to remember, in the darkest times, that light is still ahead and will wait for you to emerge. Sad stuff indeed and I have been through it in recent years. If I can do it, anyone can. Much love! :)

Love your videos and your accent 😍. I’d never have guessed you were transgender. Being from England I can honestly say I’ve not experienced any issues with being trans and I don’t look half as good as you 👍😬! I think if you allow people to ask questions if they’re curious then they get a better understanding, that’s my experience at least.

Dear Melissa, first of all, I love you. Been following you for a very long time and I am always so happy when I get news and/or replies from you! I am very sorry, sweety. I also lost. Like a lot of them, friends, family... I am very greatful that today I am fine (specially with all that's going on lately), watching your video vlog from here in my hometown. You are so sweet and cool too! I doubt we'd ever meet, but here's a friendly kiss on your cheek from over 3K miles away! Keep strong and awesome, love you very much!
    Your bro, Richy

I'm not in Scotland but supposedly I have some Scotch/Irish/Welsh heritage so it's interesting to hear your point of view. I've lived in large cities and in rural areas both. Currently I'm in a rural area but most people don't really care about whether or not someone is transgender. It's usually the laws that are so slow to adapt because of a subset of the population who try to project their values on other people but that is actually changing. Just recently the Supreme Court ruled that the civil rights act and specifically title 7 does apply to gay and trans people. This is especially important because over time it was already applied to equal housing, medical attention, employment, and other things. The thing that changed was that now they interpreted gay and trans people to be included in these existing protections. But some still insist that these existing protections were not extended to gay and trans people because they have to find a problem where there isn't one. What frustrates me about the American trans community is that they got upset that the previous so called protections, which were an executive order, and temporary measures at best, were basically being ignored by many states. But somehow they think that was better than it being federal law?!?! So as it was previously, it was only the democrat states and cities who honored the executive order, but now all states have to adhere to the constitutional amendment law as interpreted by the Supreme Court. So what our president did to pave the way for this decision was to rescind the executive order so that the Supreme Court could make a ruling and remove the useless executive order which was being unequally applied. And the political narrative of the democrats is that we supposedly lost medical and housing protection. But that's actually not true. We gained those already existing protections under law in the new ruling now instead of a feeble executive order that any president could literally shred, and many states were ignoring. So I take the unpopular stance that I would rather have it be national law than a meaningless gesture that didn't apply everywhere in the country. Now that it is law it's almost impossible to reverse it, and it won't be. And no state has any excuse to ignore the federal law. So what exactly did gay and trans people lose? Nothing. We actually gained equal protection in all states instead of a select few. So I guess the point is that I find more frustration within my own community because of them harassing me over non issues than I do with the average person who isn't trans.

Sorry to hear about your mother passing away that is very sad for you I'm sure. If I was in a good financial way I would try and help you out😢. I think you are an extremely beautiful girl and I can't see how you would have any problems passing. I have just started with patches so I would love to have the results you've got but I know that is impossible considering I am 46. just would love to send you a hug from Ireland.

You probably will never see this and it’s kinda off topic but... My mom is transphobic cause she has told me straight to my face that in her exact words “people shouldn’t change there genders if you were born___then stay___” and that destroyed my self esteem and I don’t really have people I can talk to about it besides my bestfriend as she’s the only person who won’t go telling my mom..what can I do? Is there a way for me to ask for help? Can I get a therapist with just my dads permission and my mom not knowing? What do I do if she finds out? What happens if I tel my dad and he tells her? What happens if I tell my sisters and they tell her? How about my brother? I want a binder but I don’t know how to get one without her knowing...where can I purchase a binder without her knowing? how do I get people to call me my name I feel comfortable in without her finding out?I have a lot of questions and I’m sorry for that! you probably won’t see this but it was nice to get it off my chest as I have been questioning for around 1-2 years😓. The issue is me and my mom have always been super close and I don’t wanna lose her..but I can’t keep doing this anymore with stress of high school and not knowing who I am..

Hi thanks for your message. I don't really know all of the answers but I would just say don't be afraid to take time to figure yourself out. You sound like you're still young and also being FTM you have the advantage of being more passable even if you start your transition later. I'm not sure of the services in your area but maybe you could speak to a therapist through your high school? I am not sure what it's like in your country but in the UK, therapists can only disclose information to your parents if they feel you are a threat to yourself or others so they shouldn't tell anybody about your transgender feelings. I hope this helps a bit :)

Melissa Carmen thank you so much for responding it made me really happy! I’m gonna talk to my school about when it opens back up and see what I can do!
I’m also starting therapy so I’ll be able to talk to a counselor about it too!
