Most bands age poorly. R.E.M., a legendary band, failed to make a good record after 1991, but they still deserve more praise than bands named after insects.
Ah here ! REM best stuff might have been the late 1980s mumbling Michael Stipe but they became a terrific live band in the 1990-2000s . Automatic for the People is a solid album . So too Monster and likewise Up . They brought out some lovely singles like Night Swimming and At my most beautiful.
R.E.M. definitely lost something when Bill Berry left the band. Can't really blame the guy. When your brain blows up, you probably want to cut the stress in your life a little.

Age is insignificant until you can’t function.
This list has a ton of inaccuracies... first of all, Glen Matlock is not dead - he is alive and well. Secondly, the segment on The Kinks has dates completely wrong. Soap Opera was released in 1975 - not 1973. Yes, everyone ages - including classic rock bands - some age better than others. Who cares? It's part of life's journey. All these bands have influenced generations of kids and are still relevant today. Vintage TV is going to age soon as well - if they survive long enough. These people apparently have not done their homework and research.
You do realize that 3 of the 4 Monkees have passed, right? AC/DC, the Kinks, the Who, the Rolling Stones, Queen, the Beatles, the Eagles, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin are all classic bands that do not deserve the nastiness heaped upon them here. You do know that Freddy Mercury, the Youngs of AC/DC, John Lennon & George Harrison of the Beatles are also gone, correct? It's beyond petty to criticize the dead for the sake of $$$ & likes. Makes you a bit hypocritical yourself.
I disagree, many of these bands are still awesome. AC/DC being my number one. I would like to see what you're doing when you're in your 70's. Also, that was not Randy Meisner, it was Glenn Frey. I couldn't listen to the rest because you don't know what you are talking about. Do your research.

Even film scorers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, & James Horner aren't safe from such accusations. The funny thing is movie directors borrow from each other all the time yet most don't make a big deal out of it. The likes of George Lucas & Quentin Tarantino even get praised for doing so.
What are you waffling about . The influence of the Beatles died a death during the 1970-1980s. Fuck all we’re talking about them . Bowie was right when he questioned their relevancy in that period . This is stupid, the criticism of bands for growing old is shameful from people who have never had to go through the process of writing songs, recording the songs, countless practices sessions before playing an hour long concert under hot lights then back onto a tour bus and doing the same again night after night with alcohol, parties its an hard life and the reason many bands cannot keep going. AC/DCs highway to hell was written on the road in the middle of over 120 concerts night after night sometimes 2 gigs in one day. This is meant to be ragebait. Who on earth cares what critics think? You can think for yourself, you don't need a critic's opinion. Queen and The Beatles are just as popular as current artists on Spotify, to call that aging badly is, out of touch, derisive, divisive... How can Led Zeppelin age badly, when the band ended in 1980. It not worth the effort to go through all of the inaccuracies. This is like an experiment of insulting popular bands to get a reaction.
I think artists lose touch with audiences because of delusion from monetary success, not from age. They are unable to connect with the "every man" because they are so far removed from everyday "normal" challenges, lifestyles, and tastes that they have to TRY. Fans can hear that. No one wants to hear you try. It's insincere, foney, placating, and comes across as mocking, pandering, and desperate. Wisdom comes from age, and that's an interesting perspective if done correctly. Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Nick Cave (to name a few) remain relevant in their elder years because they still have perspective and don't sound like they're trying. It's honest. Comfort kills artistry, not age. So that argument is off base. The starving artist will remain relevant despite of age. No artist I can think of grew up wealthy and started out with some grand statement. If you take for granted where you came from and forgot your struggles along the way, you don't have much more to say. It becomes repetitive, and desperate. I will say though, that with age the "fire" burns lower and the excitement and energy are diminished. Sincerity and honesty will always attract audiences. The trick is keeping that flame burning.
Some of this list I found shocking I mean Queen aging badly they are still appealing today though I’ll admit Hot Space was drawing way too much from another one bites the dust venturing into the pop funk scene not fitting of their legacy fortunately they redeemed themselves in later releases now the Beatles aging badly I don’t think so their music is still appreciated today as well as some of the other inclusions on this list. Enough said
This is hillariously bad. 'Not relevant' WTF does that mean? I am 60, my Dad is 86, my son is 14 and we all listen to and enjoy the music most of these bands made. Criticism for political and enviromental issues? When did that become a bad thing? What about working class hero. Bob Dylan and, well, most of his wonderful songs had something to say about all issues. This is utter nonsense. I just wasted 36.37 mins of my life. Brilliant bands, still being listened to and still inspiring people today.
Jeesh.... A horrid waste of 36:37 of my life that I'll never get back. The "narrator" sounds like a vocoder or robot. The "stories" are all boring, derivative, and repetitive. Their spewings all sound like they were AI-generated.
So if the bands stick to their roots, they are inspired, lazy, and boring. If they adapt to the current landscape, they are sell outs. Make up your damn mind.! This list is garbage
Much ado about nothing, especially when it comes to the older and classic rock bands. Who cares what the critics say? They are not the general public and what we like or love.
I've discovered, by watching Vintage TV's other videos, that they're out to destroy anything old school. I bet this channel is ran by a young basement dweller.
I’m sick of seeing all these lists of bands, models, actors, etc who age “poorly”. We ALL age. The fact that they’re in the public eye makes it worse. Do we expect people to look and perform perfectly for all eternity? LIFE happens to everyone. And the more successful they are, the greater their “fall from grace”. I think being famous would be absolute torture. Clicking OFF.

I will say though, that with age the "fire" burns lower and the excitement and energy are diminished. Sincerity and honesty will always attract audiences. The trick is keeping that flame burning.
You can't even name a band nowadays that's any good IT JUST Sucks
Who ever authored this list needs to do something else because they know NOTHING about rock music!!
Glen Matlock playing for Blondie now.... Not dead?????
So if the bands stick to their roots, they are inspired, lazy, and boring. If they adapt to the current landscape, they are sell outs. Make up your damn mind.! This list is garbage
This whole video is embarrassing and uses ancient criticism that hasn't aged well at all. In Aerosmith's case, no mention of the triumphant PUMP.
You say share this video with my friends I wouldn't share it with my dog(he would bite)
When it came to Oasis it seems their fights are more interesting than their music.
Liam's a brat.
If you feel this way, maybe rock music isnt for you. Jus5 saying.
Bon Jovi was NEVER a good band
All this shows is that everyone grows old, no matter what their life's work is.
Must be a slow news day.
Someone is jealous of some very great bands.
A lot of these bands stayed too long, but that's likely because there are almost NO good new rock bands to take up the mantle.
Well that's true that means the new bands aren't very good and maybe they should just go away too
Ummmm........ Glen Matlock isn't dead, get your facts straight!!!!!!!
They put AC/DC, Queen, and the freaking Beatles in the list but not one mention of the worst band ever: Starship.
What a garbage list!
AC/DC?? Over 200 million hard copies sold, still touring after 50 years, filling every stadium they agree to visit, and try getting a ticket to see them after they have been on sale after 10 minutes. Oh yeah, they really sound washed up…..This entire list is crap.
This list is garbage!!!! Anybody who bashes and disses The Beatles, The Who and Queen are morons in my opinion!!!! But music is an art 🎨 form!!!! Its subjective open to different opinions and appreciations!!! It seems like these criticisms are more like personal attacks on the bands opinions and individual artists' characters and behaviors and actions outside the music than the talent!!!!😂😂😂😂😮😮😮😊😊
I'm guessing you work for Fox News. Or you wish you could. What a load of crap. And here's a tip - don't use the word 'derivative' so much. It loses it's meaning.
OMG, a band known for being gloomy from their first album continues to be gloomy? Somebody warn the Cure! Get hold of Depeche Mode!
The moral of the story? Don't have a musical identity. It'll only lead to accusations of being "fixated".
So if you don't cut your long hair, your an outdated cliche. If you do your a sellout.everyone ages. Where I agree some band need to know when to quit, looking at you motley Crue, most of these complaints are pretty stupid. This list sucks
Critics = just a bunch of 16 year olds with computers. The voice over is pretty poor
Glen Matlock is touring and recording with Blondie. Hopefully he's also cowriting tracks. No original members of The Sex Pistols have died. (Sid Vicious replaced Glen Matlock in the 70s and was replaced by Matlock after his death).
This list is garbage. I've never seen such garbage and Such garbage that I can't even think of anything else to say. It's even close to anything if this guy says it's. He's like trump lies about everything
Just pulling bands name out of the air, pathetic, desperate and needy, not a clue what derivative means, but, it was probably that as well.
What a crappy vid. Surely popularity outranks any critic's opinion.
Musicians should just keep their political views to themselves! No one wants to hear it!
Bon Jovi has always been a bit of a joke, they're lame.
Whomever programmed the AI voice, and the content, well, it's just wussified
Blatantly right winged propaganda BS attacking their politics and saying the same thing each and every band the same excuses why they "fell" and then everyone of their last albums were called exactly the same. none of this video was original and to think someone is making big $$ while some poor schlub trying to be honest and draws a cartoon has to fight to get monetized. Just doesn't seem right but that never means anything.
Wait, are you saying that the Stones, Beatles, Queen, and Led Zeppelin have aged poorly?!?!?
Thank you. If the Beatles are number one. This guy probably has never heard of the bands.
@@TamiTorres-qk4wf Probably AI junk.
Never fuck with Led Zeppelin!
Sooooonicetoseeyouvecooledout.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
even while aged, these bands were better than the new crap coming out...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
This is hilarious. I was talking about how much Aerosmith sucks just yesterday. They should have stayed back in the 70s.
The first couple albums were great, should have retired after that. Joe Perry's great, though.
@@courtneysands6646 Steve Perry🤣
What about Joe Tyler?
