I learned that the higher the mileage, the better the car was maintained. If the owner doesn't care about the vehicle, the car never reaches high mileage.
My 530d is 330bhp and 550lb of torque. Feels faster than a remapped 535d, but that could be because the single turbo in the 530 gives you a massive shove in the back.
Got one with 337k miles. Owned it for a couple of years. The biggest thing I had to replace was the turbocharger, but of course, there were quite a few other things. 2004 m57 didn't have the dpf out of the factory (160kw euro 3), egr delete kit can set you back anywhere from 50 to 130 euro + an hour of work, or maybe a couple of hours for some of us.
I had a 520d m sport and really do miss the. Had a map and was an amazing sexy looking car. They are timeless I think. Even the little led lights to it’s real lights on the side. Its the type of car that ages slowly and nicely like a fine wine!!
Be careful, buy the wrong one and they quickly become a money pit, they also suffer from Timing chain issues. You have been warned!!!! Buy a good one, you won't be disappointed.
@@piovo5222 You do get dual mass with torque converters also, very common with Audi and merc these days! Bigger German brands use them on the larger cars
@@samsterstormhobbies you get a single flywheel/flexplate mounted to the engine that’s for all torque converter boxes which are mainly used in BMWs and mercs the ones your talking about is DCTs which is just a automated manual box. DSG, s tronic, dct all the same thing just named differently.
Cool old car (I think?) ... I think you need to structure your reviews a little better, you repeated yourself about 9 times about the mileage and other bits like the interior etc but never really went into things like load space, common issues etc. Should I buy one? Well I'm not sure - even my old Alfa looked good and had a nice interior but it meant nothing when it blew up at 55k due to an oil pickup issue that hadn't been addressed. What goes wrong with these? What are they like for lugging kids and shopping around? What's the tax and insurance like for you? Just seems like you didn't really plan what you wanted to cover and ended up saying nothing for 10 minutes.
This was the last era BMW's still had character, all their models looked different which was nice. Since then its hard to tell what BMW just passed you because they all look the same with the exception of the 1 series and the 8 series.. any way I just picked up my second 530d m-sport E60 today to match the one my wife has.

@@jasoncheriton1836 I like 1990's cars but I reckon this era of cars extends into the early 2000's. Things started to go wrong when engines got smaller with more extreme turbos and they got rid of the hand brake.
Mine has done 190k miles on the last service i decided aswell to change the rear diff oil but to my surprise it was still golden but got some fresh millers in it anyway. Check that oil breather on top of the engine mines on a 2006 so by then they had taken the cotton filter out as they clog.
