While mastery over the guitar’s technical domain is no simple feat, it takes something beyond the realms of technique and music theory to elevate a guitarist to the status of a bona fide soloist. Rabea Massaad - known for his extensive solo work, demanding chops, and distinctive style - dropped by Sweetwater to offer an active, firsthand look at his playing style, joined by resident metal maestro Nick Bowcott to talk all things style, tone, and Rabea’s philosophy of soloing. Check it out!

I'd love to see Nick Bowcott break down his work on, one of my all-time favorite tracks, Fear No Evil by Grim Reaper. Absolute legend!!!
Rabea was one of those players, when I first heard him, I immediately locked on to something unique. His phrasing, chord progressions and melodies are so fresh and moving. Loved Toska, his work with Frogleap, loving The Totemist (Ride out of failure may be my favorite instrumental song period), the Grinding Gears EPs and looking forward to hearing Vower. Cheers gents!
I love Rabea, professional skateboarder and professional musician! My kind of guy, he's inspiring.
Yeah! The master class was absolutely amazing! Happy I was able to make it!
Excellent explanation on the complex subject of outside playing…kudos Maestro…brilliant!
Rebea...ROCKS! Happy New Year 2024! See you all at NAMM 2024! Greetings from Hollywood, California!
Great interview, Nick!
Yes, that guy is my shape of playing. Blues shredding
I’m one of those followers Rabea got when Chappers said to follow him. I’ve been hooked with his playing since and he’s a great inspiration to a 50 something year old beginner.
Never realised how similar my way of playing and learning music was to Rabea. Love this
Wow what a sound
That guitar is sweet ❤ I hope they make a left hand version?
Man, I want to meet Rabea so bad. He became my main influence as a guitarist.
where the heck does nick get all these union jack guitars?! friggin badass man 🔥🔥🔥
My goodness,it’s Charlie Chuck’s son 🎉❤
Tone dia enak banget, sumpah
Rabea is left-handed, but was made to learn to play guitar CORRECTLY.
I approve.
I don't think there is such a thing as "the right way", it's whatever feels comfortable. I've taught lefties who were terrible at playing right-handed, but the second they got the strings switched around improved much faster.
I mean Rabea's perspective on how difficult it was to get his picking hand in order is evidence of what I've noticed a lot with lefties that play traditionally. They always seem to go finger style or hybrid-picking to solve an issue with their picking (evidence - Mark Knopfler and Nick Johnston are both lefties that had to work around them using their weak hand for picking).
Guys can I ask who is the guy that he mention that play guitar as a piano player?I cant understand the name...Anyway thanks for that sweetwater :) love Rabea! Blessing
I love that creamy distortion at the beginning
I hate living in an apartment 😢. I need to rock 😲🫣
Making UA-cam videos is fun, especially if you are dedicated to your work and music.
Be a welcomed addition if misic man sterling offered a security blanket to left handed players by actually building lefty models of their guitars
What kind of music man Sabre is Rabea playing in this video?
His own signature one.
They talk about the guitar starting at 22:36
Just a Sabre, with his signature stuff in it. The Sterlings are getting really good recently. I play my Cutlass CT50 HSS all the time. It's been heavily modified and is soo comfortable feeling. I've been on a bit of an affordable guitar modding kick recently. Revstar Element and PRS SE McCarty .594 singlecut standard are my other recent forrays. It's gotten to the point I rarely play my expensive guitars, and get more enjoyment out of the modified affordable ones. I get bored with factory stock guitars like Stratocasters, Telecasters and Les Pauls. ALL my guitars are modified, except the Stingray Bass and '59 LP.
What guitar is his security blanket?
I just can't play one instrument. Gary Husband plays guitar keyboards, and drums. Mike Kanneally (spell check), and Mike Oldfield. But I love so many musicians that I own 1000+ cds and 700+ vinyl. No I bought $900 worth of SD cards to record and write my music!
Ha ha I had lessons off the Mr Nick!
no chapman guitar?
Old news
He got endorsed by Music Man in 2023!
Rabea is so much better than Rob Chapman that it's hilarious.
Poor Rob. Living rent free in so many heads. May he never be forgotten.
@@StormdriverOne Fuck'n hilarious, hey?
I 100% agree rabea is better, but also rob is so much better than we are. 😁
