I don’t have MLB network so for almost a year I had been checking to see if this would get posted. Thank you!! Brett was and still is my all-time favorite athlete! Memories run deep for me. I live in Michigan and I swear I never missed a game when he and the Royals came to Tiger Stadium. I was there a week after the Pine Tar Game when his bat was returned to him at the park. Perry was the one that told us as we sat near the dugout as the pitchers were warming up a an hour before the game. I was there on the 10th anniversary to the day in 1993 in Brett’s final season. Brett said years later he knew he would do something special that day. He hit his first multi HR (2) of the season that day helping the Royals win. I sat in the bleachers watching the plane fly over the stadium with one of those messages from the tail joking with Brett. I was always amazed at him and knew every time he came to the plate something great would happen! I miss his greatness! I got emotional at moments because Brett was someone I idolized and he brought me so much happiness joy! Thank you for posting!!
Thanks for the upload!! Safe to say George Brett used every ounce of talent in his body in carving out the career he did. But even more important he learned from the mistakes his father made and didn’t repeat them with his children. His is a life well lived.
When I was 10 in 1973 my family moved to Hastings Neb, we lived 3 blocks away from Hastings college. Cable TV arrived and we had 12 channels. One of them televised every Royals game. I was hooked. George, Frank, Dennis, Amos, Paul, Al, Willie, Whitey were my guys. George was unbelievable. To this day I still haven’t seen a clutch hitter as good as Brett. Bobbie Witt was in the Brett Zone after the all star break this year which was a great reminder of how great Brett is.
I was in the upper deck at Yankee Stadium when Brett hit that massive home run in 1980 off of Goose Gossage in game 3 of the ALCS. It was surreal. The sound on contact was like a gun had been fired. The whole place was stunned.
I've always been a Detroit fan, but Brett was one of three opponent players I loved to watch growing up (Rod Carew and Fred Lynn being the others). What an incredible ball player.
By far my favorite player. I had the largest baseball card collection of George Brett. Just in Brett cards I had over 10,000 cards. Full pages of each of his cards. Andddddd TriTips were invented in Santa Maria, CA where I grew up.
Excellent film. The disconnect in Jack Brett's mind is incredible. Here he has everyone he meets telling him how great his son is and how proud he must be. So he spends his time watching for George's small failures so he can throw them in his face the next time he sees him.
Chicago Park District ball and I end up on the Royals….. the day jerseys came I didn’t tell anybody what number I wanted but I knew I wanted number 5….. and I got it….I knew damn well who George Brett was. Wish I still had it

i love brett and reggie jackson but mike schmidt here comes off as very likable. i almost feel bad for enjoying the mets beating the phillies in game one of the nlcs yesterday.
Reggie is less about himself these days as he ever was. Jackson was THE most electric hitter of the 70s period. But he let everyone know that as well! I was lucky to grow up on Garvey, Jackson, Rose, Parker, Brett, Schmidt, Carew, Gwynn, Morgan, Henderson, Ripken, Yount, Molitor, Hernandez, Sandberg, Dawson, Murray, Lynn, Rice and epic century great pitchers Ryan, Seaver, Carlton, Guidry, Valenzuela & Gooden among others.
Brett is and always has been a really terrible person. Countless stories of him f bombing kids who ask for an autograph and being a drunken jerk many times. His horrible relationship with his dad likely is a big part of it. I don't hate him, but feel sorry for someone with so much anger. A tragic figure of sorts. A great ballplayer who has very few friends (especially among former Royals) and is tormented by his terrible relationship with his dad. To his credit he is a good father himself. Very interesting documentary.
I think you have no friends and nobody who respects you , so you feel that you need to criticize someone who is actually admired by his peers for his accomplishments
Questionable editing. They talk about him being a great opposite field hitter and show a clip of him hitting the ball to left field. They talk about his season in 1974 and they show him hitting in the new Yankee Stadium which was remodeled in 1976. Simple things.
Brett forgets that if Orta is rightfully called out in game 6, thats the final out and the Cardinals win that Worlds Series, but Brett say's in this video that they may have still won if Orta was called out. No George, Orta is called out, thats the final out and Cardinals are World Champs.

I’m not excusing child abuse, but it makes sense to me that his father may indeed have loved him but didn’t know how to properly express it. I know I’m assuming a lot… but it would make sense. However wrong it may be.

Brett was the second greatest third basemen of ALL TIME (behind Schmidt of course).
It's going to be sad when Kaufman Stadium eventually gets replaced. Both it and George debuted in 1973. That park is practically his brother.
