  • A Football Life Terry Bradshaw
Terry Paxton Bradshaw (born September 2, 1948) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). Since 1994, he has been a television sports analyst and co-host of Fox NFL Sunday. Bradshaw is also an actor and recording artist, having participated in several television shows (mainly as himself) and films, most notably co-starring in the movie Failure to Launch, and releasing several country music albums. He played for 14 seasons with Pittsburgh, won four Super Bowl titles in a six-year period (1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979), becoming the first quarterback to win three and four Super Bowls, and led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility. Bradshaw was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
Bradshaw is known as a tough competitor and for having one of the most powerful arms in NFL history. His physical skills and on-the-field leadership played a major role in the Steelers' dynasty throughout the 1970s. During his career, he passed for more than 300 yards in a game seven times, but three of those performances came in the postseason (two of which were in Super Bowls). In four career Super Bowl appearances, he passed for 932 yards and 9 touchdowns, both Super Bowl records at the time of his retirement. In 19 career postseason games, he completed 261 passes for 3,833 yards.

My father sat next to Mr. Bradshaw on a 3 hour flight over 25 years ago. He said that he was sitting in his seat and Terry came onboard and sat next to him and looked over at my Dad and said “ hey, you look familiar, do I know you from somewhere “? Lol. My Dad always loved to tell that little story. He said that you couldn’t have met a nicer guy. 👍👍

Wow that's awesome ... It's cool how you get to learn more about a man's personality through another person shared story thank you ... Just makes the good things about Terry more believable only cause i only learned about him through tv and what not ,. But I like how he made your dad feel comfortable that he was a popular dude I bet a lot of people who met him can share that story that's so cool

Mr. Bradshaw is a genuine man. He's a gentleman. Please remember he had issues and came out with flying colors. He never gave up. Football comes and goes but life is a different thing. I'm a Steelers fan but I appreciate Terry's heart.

As a kid I hated Bradshaw for beating my Cowboys in the 1979 Super Bowl. He broke my heart. However I learned to love Terry and his shenanigans. I also learned to appreciate his football contributions. The man was a big game clutch quarterback.

Terry is the most under rated player in NFL history. He was 51st on the NFL 100 greatest players. On the 100th anniversary team he was left off. Roger Staubach made it. Terry beat him ever time they played. Terry was MVP of the Super Bowl over him. He was MVP of the League over him. I think during his years in the media he pissed a lot of the selectors off.

Steelers fan for as long probably longer lol.....I hated Staubach back then...but not because of anything except fear of his game. In those Dallas Pitt SB's I never could relax with a lead because I knew Staubach could bring them back. I just re-watched the 79 SB and was reminded how good he was. Dude almost brought them back scoring 2 td's in just a couple minutes. Cowboys recovered an onside kick to score the second td. They did not recover the next one and the Steelers held on. If y'all had gotten that second onside I think Staubach would have drove them for the win. Scared a 12 year old kid half to death lol. Another thing I noticed was the sportsmanship both teams exhibited towards each other.
That was when football was football.

I remember the fans treated him terribly for his first few years in the NFL. When the Steelers hired a coach specifically to coach him, he then became a super star. Even Chuck Knoll gave up on him several times as during the Steelers 1974 season Knoll started Joe Gilliam. On a Monday night Game Gilliam was replaced by Bradshaw and Rocky Blier was also put into the starting lineup. He actually won the fans over during the 1977 season when he carried the team on his back playing with a broken left wrist.

It’s always a fascinating thing to wrap your head around when you see a man who was a #1 overall draft pick, 4x Super Bowl winner, 2x Super Bowl MVP, NFL MVP, college football HOF member, pro football HOF member, and always has a happy go lucky personality struggles with insecurity and depression. It’s an incredibly transparent display of how challenging depression truly is. Even someone who has achieved some of the pinnacles of success in their life, is widely beloved, and in a public sense seems to not have a care in the world can struggle. So sad that the reality is it can strike anybody and if they don’t tell us we could never even know.

With Terry and Chuck Noll were oil and water. Chuck being the cold business approach and Terry the southern boy farm boy who loved being social. Terry even said it himself if he would have loved to be on another team with a coach like say Pete Carroll who was the players coach who congratulated everyone. The thing is those two won 4 Super Bowl together. Somehow through the uneasy relationship they won together. Terry had that TV persona of being a goof, but in reality a goof doesn't get to call their own plays. Terry did and Chuck trusted Terry enough to do that. The thing all Terry wanted was Chuck Noll to give him a pat on the back and say good job, Chuck wasn't that type of person. Chuck was the type of coach where if you practiced and prepared for the week, your play on the field speaks volumes. Even Chuck's own son said his dad wasn't the hugging type of father.

and a lot of Steeler fans talking about Kenny Pickett isn't the guy for Pittsburgh, didn't watch the life of Terry Bradshaw...he was sacked for safeties in his first 3 games, & threw 6 touchdown & 24 interceptions!!!..and started 5-9 his first year!?!?!?!..😮😮😮

Man TB, gotta let some ish go. Your an an all time great, you proved CK wrong or right. He clearly trusted you as he inserted you for the 74 playoff run because he knew you were the man. It appears that benching helped you one way or another.
Still love ya TB, but pettiness and grudges will leave you with a lot of regrets.

Yeah, today too many people want a superstar winning qb from their first game. Were all used to Tom Brady winning the Bowl his first year and then winning 7. Tom Brady was a freak. Hes in a league by himself. Franchises cant expect any new qb to be a Tom Brady. Terry Bradshaw was awful in his first year and wasn't a statistical god but he was a fighter, a winner, and his will and heart were huge. You cant measure that. Today tesms need to give 3 years to a qb at least. In those 3 years, you want to see a change from rookie to 3rd year. If you see a really good change for the better than you give him another 3 years. I think by the 5 th year, a coach should be sble to realize if this guy is going to take us to the super bowl. The fans and media need to be not listened too for the first few years. Everyone thinks they onow whats best for there team but nobody knows more than the coach and the players. Im so sick of the media with Tom Brady is to old and all done, then he goes and wins the Superbowl again. Terry was a good qb, very good but people immediately say, he would've sucked in this era. That doesn't mean shit. He didn't play in this era and wont. Pittsburgh was the team in the 70s. Terry, Franco, and the steel curtain. Lynn Swann was my favorite receiver. Joe Montana was my favorite qb. I was a Pats fan but was a fan of the game so i loved players from other teams. Loved Bradshaw, just hated that he beat us Pats all the time. Pittsburgh stuck with him when the fans wanted him out. He was dumb. Lol. You cannot be dumb if your a qb in the nfl. To much to learn and winning 4 Superbowl proves he was smart. Very smart.

I don't like the revisionist history they portray about Bradshaw's last two Super Bowls.
Yeah he threw four touchdowns against Dallas.
But he also had three turnovers.
He threw two touchdowns against the Rams.
But he also had three turnovers.
He got two MVP awards, and it could have been argued he shouldn't have gotten any.
Stallworth should have gotten the one in Super Bowl XIV.
