The reason why I’m a packers fan. My dad couldn’t root for Pittsburgh, didn’t like the “honolulu blue,” and Brett Favre was all the rage. From Toledo Ohio, I was born in 93.
Modell should NEVER be in the Hall of Fame. Look at this deadbeat's resume - Fired Paul Brown, arguably one of the greatest coaches/innovators of all time, was too cheap to pay Jim Brown - forced him into retirement, got punked by Elway 3 times, didn't take a stadium deal when the then Indians got theirs, fired BB, THE greatest coach of all time, and then ripped the still beating heart out of the legendary, loyal, rabid fan base and city by moving the damn team because he was an absurdly inept businessman and a coward.
The NFL did this. They allowed this to happen. Baltimore should have been given an expansion then and there and the Browns should have been sold then. Not deactivated.
Cleveland tried to stop Art Modell of relocating the Browns to Baltimore, but failed. Somehow, the NFL is a business and the owners don’t go to loyal fans. The owners go to where the money is. I was lucky the Dolphins are still in my hometown of Miami. Some people in Baltimore are still bitter about the Colts which they have relocated to Indianapolis for the 1984 NFL season.
I'm a Raiders Fan. Anyone who says Bill isn't The Greatest Coach Ever, hasen't followed football since 1990. And I think Vince, and Al, and Paul, and Jimmy, and Bill Walsh, and Madden, and .......... are great coaches.

This is very misleading. The Browns were preseason favorites to be AFC Champions, and they did start 3-1. But then they lost three straight games. No shame in losing to the AFC East Champion Bills, even at home on MNF. But then they were blown out by the 1-3 Lions (they were down 31-10 with six minutes to go), and then they lost to the 2-5 expansion Jaguars. Belichick benched Vinny Testaverde for Eric Zeier. Zeier won his first start over the Bengals to lift the Browns back to .500. That's when the move to Baltimore was announced. But the team was headed for a .500 season, not an AFC Championship, when the move was announced.
They might not have gotten to the Super Bowl that year but maybe they break through a couple years later than expected. What’s interesting though is with the preseason expectations would Modell have fired Belichick if they did miss the playoffs
They lost 2 games to the Jaguars , final game of the season in Jacksonville first time in NFL history a team had lost 2 games to an expansion team in a season
@ what did Antonio Langham say? After the move was announced guys stopped playing hard the season was over at that point in time. Look maybe the team wasn’t winning the Super Bowl that year but they were headed in the right direction. What’s different about this and other teams relocating is that the team is bad there’s talk of the team leaving for a few years and the fans don’t care anymore. They had a good team and were selling out all the home games
@garydizzine No. They were headed in the wrong direction. They had broken through with a playoff appearance in 1994, and were expected to continue to ascend in 1995. Instead, they were a .500 team even before the move was announced. I wouldn't have a lot of faith in Eric Zeier turning the team around. (Belichick had benched Vinny Testaverde for Zeier before the move.)
@ They were 4-4 you’re acting like they were the expansion Buccaneers or the 0-16 Browns from 2017. I can probably name you more than a few teams who were 4-4 at Halloween and made the playoffs
Football gods saw that bill belichick was gonna lead browns to the super bowl one day and had to take their team away from them now ever since their return they've never recovered from failing
30 years later.... here is where we stand. The Browns are still the most dysfunctional sports organization for 30 straight years, and counting. Maybe in 5 years with the new stadium it will be better, but use your Sunday time on other things.
Cleveland botched it up. Should have also built a football stadium when they were building the baseball park and basketball arena. Modell knew where the NFL was heading. Remember that he was influential in the birth of Monday Night Football. The Colts left with the team name, colors, and records in the middle of the night.
Andre Risen...enough said. Art Modell was a liar and a thief, All he had to do was be honest and upfront and it would have all been figured out. He had enormous debt and selfishly did what he needed to do.
Tom Brady had no touchdowns and 2 interceptions his first start he had 18 touchdowns and 12 picks didn’t play in the conference championship game and had 16 completions for under 200 yards yet you think Brady carried that team? Lol comical. If Brady went to Cleveland he’s probably out of the nfl in a few years
Imagine Beowns frustration from seeing the Ravens win adter relocation AND Belichick stsrting thst dynasty in New England? I mean ether of those could have been the Cleveland Browns successes in an alternate universe. Abd even getting the new Browns in '99 they aren't the same honestly. And the fact the new Browns have been relatively awful. As a Buccaneers fan I empathize with you Browns fans as I thought my Bucs would never get a title and I've seen 2 now. Wish you all a title in your lifetime someday.
Since '95 it's never been the same for me. I learned to live without the NFL for the 3 years without a team. I tried really hard to buy into the new franchise but, once the heart gets broken, I don't want to put it out there again. With all of the dysfunction, it made it easy to just be a casual fan. The signing of Watson was the last straw. Totally TONE DEAF and financially irresponsible.
I don't want to be hard, but when you think of all the steel mills, auto plants, machine shops, rubber and tire mills that have closed in Ohio over the years, it is REALLY hard to feel sorry for 60 or 70 millionaires having to move and not even lose their jobs. And then they got a new franchise in '99. Interesting, not sad. Sad is a million working, union men getting kicked out of work and having to beg for a job at Taco Bell.
Had to stop watching 5 minutes in. I’ll revisit this video when I’m up to it. We got screwed royally. The Browns were everything to me back then. As a foundational member of the NFL, I can’t believe they let Model take the team. Damn shame.
Bill Belichick was a great DC for the Giants. I always thought that the Giants should've made him head coach instead of the onr thry did. That was a mistske.

This is great! Please remember, however Belichick's HC record without Brady is 83-101. Think about that.
Art should never make any hall of fame. Only shame.
Let it go
As long as the hall of fame is in Canton, that dude will never get in
The NFL did this.
I wear an Ozzie jersey. He is always loved in Cleveland.
I'm a Raiders Fan. Anyone who says Bill isn't The Greatest Coach Ever, hasen't followed football since 1990. And I think Vince, and Al, and Paul, and Jimmy, and Bill Walsh, and Madden, and .......... are great coaches.
Watching this now I’d love to see Bill Belicheck coach the Browns in 2025
14:52 even in the nineties Bill was on to Cincinnati
His grave will read:
Here lies WILLIAM BELICHICK
"On To Cincinnati....."
I heard that !!! Lol
I’m a Patriots fan and I wish Art hadn’t been alive to see championship in his hand after what he did to Cleveland… the current failures of Cleveland are 10000% Arts doing
I always found it ironic that the city that had their team move out in the middle of the night ended up stealing Cleveland’s team!
Can anyone explain, "SLAPPies"? Never heard that term.
Ogden and Lewis. Offense and defence.
People burned their Browns gear... and had to buy new stuff in 1999
Lived in Canada my whole life I'm 43 my Irish great grandfather was from Cleveland and a distant relative of mine was the first baton twirler in the st Patrick's day parade. Always been a Browns fan and I remember how much this hurt my relatives that lived in Ohio
Browns fan here, when he was looking for a job in the NFL did the Browns call him no. Typical
Cleveland has a football team..??
The owner, Art Modell sabotaged the morale of the Cleveland Browns football team in 1995.
30 years later.... here is where we stand. The Browns are still the most dysfunctional sports organization for 30 straight years, and counting. Maybe in 5 years with the new stadium it will be better, but use your Sunday time on other things.
Yeah I hate that Modell did this, but it’s still really crappy that the Indians got a new ballpark and Cavs got new arena, but the browns got nothing.
Cleveland botched it up. Should have also built a football stadium when they were building the baseball park and basketball arena. Modell knew where the NFL was heading. Remember that he was influential in the birth of Monday Night Football. The Colts left with the team name, colors, and records in the middle of the night.
Not even 30 years later and its happening again, Kind of.
Since 2012 the Browns have won one playoff game
in 30 years, the Browns have won 1 playoff game, its pathetic
Andre Risen...enough said. Art Modell was a liar and a thief, All he had to do was be honest and upfront and it would have all been figured out. He had enormous debt and selfishly did what he needed to do.
They traded away the draft pick the year prior because they wanted ray lewis in the upcoming draft wow
It's So Sad That Bill Belichick Was Worst Head Coach Of Cleveland Browns From 1991 To 1993 With 20 Wins And 28 Loss
About browns but somehow talked pats😂😂😂😂😂
The Browns should invite BB back, straight from a Steeler fan
Mary Kay Cabot
Schwing
lol
He was 36-44 at Cleveland
And has a losing record without Tom Brady
Tom Brady had no touchdowns and 2 interceptions his first start he had 18 touchdowns and 12 picks didn’t play in the conference championship game and had 16 completions for under 200 yards yet you think Brady carried that team? Lol comical. If Brady went to Cleveland he’s probably out of the nfl in a few years
@@JJJJ-he8bz Tom Brady turns two jokes of a franchise into Super Bowl winners
Bill is at UNC
Remember all this. Modell, would just been more patient! Cleveland would have been New England, and Baltimore!
Baltimore Colts forever
Had to stop watching 5 minutes in. I’ll revisit this video when I’m up to it. We got screwed royally. The Browns were everything to me back then. As a foundational member of the NFL, I can’t believe they let Model take the team. Damn shame.
Should be Baltimore colts
Now they moving to Brookpark in a dome
Bill Belichick was a great DC for the Giants. I always thought that the Giants should've made him head coach instead of the onr thry did. That was a mistske.
Man that 90's fashion..they some clothes I hope don't become popular again lol
🌻
The Browns never won anything in 5 years but one wild-card game, barely. 36-46. Come on.
Depression wow lol
And they Trying in 2025 to move us to Parma now😠😡🤬
And bye the way. My favorite player is Walter Payton.
Was a glorious day for Baltimore. Stupid Tagliabue had to give teams to garbage Jacksonville and Charlotte. NFL got what they deserved
Worst of all, the Ravens won it all in 2000. That was the Browns SB.
And 2012 don't forget that one
You got a new team and kept your name we didn't get shit let's go Baltimore
Squidward: I sure do love being a fan of the Cleveland Browns on November 6th, 1995
Spongebob: I'm moving the team to Baltimore, Squidward.
So the city not revamping the stadium was not the reason?
What more could you do with a stadium that opened in the 1930's?
Cleveland should have done better. Like my Raiders. It's business. You can have all the fans in the world. Then, the city won't play ball. The owner wants more. Etc.........
Glad the Haslems are moving out of stench hole Cleveland to Brookpark good for him
What if Bill had come to Baltimore to be the head coach🤔🤔🤔
2005 Saints had it worse!
I’m sorry… not sorry…. But…. They’re still the Browns!!
Bill could not have cared less, the man has absolutely no soul.
