    The wonderful benefit of knitting our own garments is our ability to customize them! I make 3/4 sleeves on the warmest of sweaters because i dont like getting my sleeves wet when i wash dishes. So enjoy your sweater! The best sweaters are those at are worn the most.

    Hi Helen, - 'a weird wooly Teeshirt' looks fab on you, cosy but cool and so versatile. How lovely to have comments like that from your son! The socks look great too, I shall have a look out for the yarn. I'm not adventurous with socks either, they go in shoes and I need them plain for comfort, thats my thinking anyway. I'm not into gnomes but I do appreciate Gnedward, so cute with his feet. I absolutely love your hand drawn maps and all the details in your trips. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thanks for all your effort, lovely memories recorded. Hope you get rid of the cough soon. The 'only a cold' is a rotten virus so take care.

      Thank you, Pene. I'm with you on the 'plain' socks - they are mostly hidden away inside shoes and just need to be smooth and comfortable! I'm glad you like my maps, my solution to stop me worrying about infringing someone's copyright! My travel videos are definitely worth the time and effort - not only because I know they provide enjoyment to lovely UA-cam viewers, but also, as you say, because I have these memories recorded for posterity. ... and yes... describing these viruses as "only a cold" definitely gives the wrong impression! xx

    Thank you for keeping me company with my Monday morning coffee. I know these videos take a lot of time and effort on your part - but please know just how much I appreciate that you do them. Having mobility issues after nearly 70 years of loads and loads of hiking, walking, wandering, and exploring you now have become my “virtual walking/exploring guide”. Thank you. The only real toys I’ve knit have been gnomes (and a few baby toys) but I am feeling like perhaps I’m ready to tackle some of the wonderful bears and other animal friends you show. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah

    Another lovely video, the camera/videos of Aberdeen are stunning. I smiled at the Google maps bit, I’m the navigator on our driving holidays and I’m not too bad with Google maps. The train journey footage was also stunning. Was it a straight journey, or did you have to change trains? The ‘jelly roll’ blanket - quite similar to the ‘10 stitch blanket - have you seen that one? I loved your crochet sweater - strange that the designer didn’t narrow the sleeves? I too would struggle with big flappy sleeves - I’m always shoving my sleeves up. I remember my dad having metal stretchy bands, that he used to keep his shirt sleeves in place. I smiled too at the prices on the university sign, for misdemeanours - I learned to count in pounds, shillings and pence, and remember crowns, half crowns and sovereigns - and I’m not that old (66). Wonderful reminisces, so thank you. I’m sorry you’ve been so sick! Do you think you caught it off the shop owner? Did your friend get sick? Sorry for all the questions. 🤷‍♀️

    • @mousiemakespod
      @mousiemakespod  Рік тому +1

      Thank you, Isabel - and thank you for your lovely comments and telling me a little about you, too! I wish I was better at finding my way round places… It was a beautiful train journey from Aberdeen to Durham - I had to change trains at Edinburgh. Ah yes, I think I know the 10-stitch blanket that you mean but I haven’t tried it before. I do want to make another crochet jumper but I might need to work out how to do a bit of extra decreasing on the sleeves… I think I probably caught my cold from one of my piano pupils - several have come into their lessons coughing! Thankfully I’m on the mend now. xx

    Always so lovely to see you Helen! I bought the GGR pattern and still haven’t made it - I’ve just finished some blankets and weaving in ends was quite a task, maybe it put me off! I’m not the greatest crocheter &
    I find decreasing the granny clusters is tricky, which is why I’ve noticed some designers of granny style jumpers switch to plain treble stripes towards the bottom of sleeves - maybe it’s to make decreases easier. Just a thought. Gaynor X

    • @mousiemakespod
      @mousiemakespod  Рік тому

      Thank you, Gaynor! Ah yes, I didn't enjoying sewing in all those ends on my GGR jumper! But I did enjoy the pattern (it's the first time I've made a crochet garment!) and plan to make another one, with long sleeves, and not stripey! xx

    I certainly appreciate how organized and well presented your campervan videos are! I like ones with the sound over narrations. So many videos have bad audio trying to capture sound in the wild, as it were. Whether there is wind or they are standing too far from the camera or other sounds in the background can really make it hard to hear the presenter. But yours are always great🤗.
    Sorry you missed the first yarn shop, but the second one had some winning yarn! And it is all about the experience, not necessarily about the purchases.🤗 you had a great time with a friend. That's what counts.
    Your granny stripe jumper turned out nice. I love the colors but I would get tired of all the ends, too. I love the idea of a nice cozy long sleeved sweater, but in reality, I need something I can easily take off when the activity calls for it, or the hot flash🙄. So I wear cardigans and a t shirt. It is my daily uniform. And it must withstand a cat snagging on it, so no precious wool😬. If a garment isn't practical or doesn't fit, it might as well be donated. That's how I roll.👍
    The new gnome is cute. Love his hat. Will they all be this size? It looks quite a bit bigger than last year's gnomes.
    As always, thanks for sharing. I'm glad your cold is on its way out! Those lingering coughs are such a nuisance😝. Take care.

      @mousiemakespod  Рік тому

      Thank you, Karen - I'm happy to know that you enjoy my way of doing my little travel videos! Yes, I have watched many where the sound quality really detracts from the enjoyment.
      I love it that your description of your garment needs includes the need to be cat-claw proof! Cardigans are indeed very practical. The new gnome is larger than most of the ones I've made before - I will be interested to see if the others are a similar size. And, thankfully, my cough has very nearly gone! xx
