- In this week's motorhome adventure video life has taken a turn for the worst and this has been the most difficult video to put together. But to try and take our minds of things we explore the Spanish village of Chinchilla de Montearagon.

Our hearts go out to you both, it must have been incredibly difficult to film during all of this. What a time you've had and we're so sorry you've had more bad news 😢 They say things come along in threes, but it's like 5 or 6 befell you recently. Life is certainly sent to try us and watching this video really brings home how hard it must be at the moment. All we can do is give our condolences and send our love to you both, and of course to Bart. Brighter times will come around, and you’ll have the memories of Sebastian to take with you. You gave him a wonderful life, and that was a beautiful tribute at the end. He will be forever missed as all pets should be, but he was family and will live on in your hearts. These all sound like cheesy words but they're true, although we appreciate there's nothing we can say to ease the pain. Time and days at a time, especially now, over the next couple of weeks. May I just say though, of all places to distract yourselves, Chinchilla was an absolute corker. What mesmerising views and the beautiful cave houses! We'd definitely live there.
I cracked up at Alison remarking on that town bell - it really was truly awful. They'd have to change that if we lived there 😂
Darren, I'm glad your kidney stones are passed. Not a pain anyone wants by the sounds of it. And hopefully by now Perse is okay? The battery infomation blew my mind - our cluelessness with these things may come to bite me and Stephen in the end 🙈

No need to apologize. It's party of life to go through sad moments. Sorry for your loss. I know what it means to loss a pet. I had lost 5 throughout my life. So so sorry to hear the sad news , it’s awful losing your beloved pet. He was loved and had a good life. (Even I had a little cry!) We have two dogs and always find it heartbreaking when they get sick. I hope your dad Alison is on the mend and Darren it was lucky you were not in the middle of nowhere when you had to receive medical treatment.

Thank-you. Yes, we were both grateful to be in Potríes, where we have a great support network and could call friends for a lift and not have to try to park Perse in tiny side streets because there are no car parks near. 🤷🏼♀️
So sorry for making you cry this week. Having to make that final decision for a pet, is heartbreaking. Constantly wondering if you did it too early, or too late, but our vet assured us he was in no pain, but he was tired and internally things were failing, even though he looked so good for his age, on the outside.

From the viewpoint of nursing, the elderly - sudden delirium is often caused by an asymptomatic urinary tract infection. It was always the first thing we checked when there was some sort of sudden unexplained mental deterioration I am certain that has already been checked, but if not...
Thanks for the heads up Paulette. The hospital did test dad for everything when he arrived. He had a minor chest infection, that they gave him antibiotics for, but the delirium persisted after that cleared. 🤷🏼♀️ We're none the wiser, but thank-you so much for the recommendation. Did/do you work in that sector..?!? 😘🤟

Thanks guys. Aging animals are always a worry, but they always give such joy, that the pleasure is worth the pain. Sebastian wasn't the best dog ever, he was challenging and difficult when he was younger and stubborn always, but that just made for a larger hole to be left, now that he's gone.

So sad to hear of Sebastian's passing, but am comforted by the fact he is out of discomfort and pain, and had two human beings that loved and respected his needs and gave him a good life. Sending lots of hugs virtually🤗🫂As far as all the other issues, better to be happening now, where you know where to get them addressed than when you are on the road in a more foreign land. Now that church in Chinchilla! Based on the somewhat dramatic outside structure, the inside was much more relaxed and had a very calm feel to it. Somewhere that you could sit and contemplate/reflect without being overly stimulated by the surroundings.
Thank-you Paulette. Thankfully the vet assured us that Seb was not in pain, but he was tired and ready. Internally, things were shutting down, but the decision was made harder by the fact that he still looked so good for his age. Many people commented that they thought he was a pupper and most people thought that Bart was the oldest.
I was very grateful to be in Potríes when Darren had his kidney stones, as we have a great support network here and I could immediately call on friends for a lift and we knew the process at the hospital.
Fingers crossed we won't have to try out any hospitals anywhere else on our travels. 🤞🍀🤟
Saying goodbye to a loved pet is one of the hardest things to do. Sorry for your loss and I hope things improve for you two.

Alison and Darren we are sorry about your loss. This video was so emotional for us to watch. Just like you, we adore our fur babies until they take that last breath and beyond. We have walked your journey before and know the grief you hold in your hearts today. Thank-you for your kind words. We were so grateful to him for giving us an extra 2½ years, from when we originally thought that we would lose him. We certainly made the most of them.
We're sorry that you have also walked this path, but not sorry at the same time, as it means that your furbabies were clearly loved and adored, as we wish all furbabies could be.

So sorry to hear about Sebastian, I know what it is, it happened to me. Hope your other doggy is doing OK.
P.S. I used to live in a small village in Spain. The church would ring the bells at all times. But the villagers, not entirely satisfied with it, created a network of speakers all around the village that would play precanned "bell" sounds, every 30 min., ALL DAY LONG.
I hated it with a passion. Anyway, at least it made an even better atheist... ;)
Thanks for your condolences. Seb has left a huge hole in our lives. Bart has been very quiet, but we're getting him lots of human and animal socialisation, so fingers crossed, we'll all get through it. 💔
We actually love the sounds on the bells in Potries. They have a rich, resonance, it just makes me laugh when some bells are deliberately dampened to stop it. Potries also has a speaker system around the village for daily announcements, or playing music during fiestas (and lockdown). We thought it was a leftover from the 'Franco days'. 🤟
@@findingxanadulife Good to know about Bart, the fact that he spends so much time with you guys will certainly make it easier on him.
And yeah, daily announcements are fine, but having a 24/7 speaker "ringing" every 30 minutes is certainly not, in my book. More like an accoustic abomination shoved down my throat, for religious reasosons. And in my case, I think that unbearable "custom" was implemented in the late 80s/early 90s, when Franco had been dead for a long, long time.
But hey, they also used to put entire litters of unwanted dog puppies inside a sack, then throw them in the river to dispose of them, among other things. Again, I´m afraid Franco didn´t have much to do with it... ;)
@1650million Bart has always had a certain amount of separation anxiety, so we tried to work towards this day, by taking him with us at times, without Seb, so it wouldn't suddenly have to be a thing for him. We're also having to reintroduce him to being left in the motorhome without Seb, even though he has the 2 cats for company, who adore him. Especially Spud who likes to sleep near him at night.

Sadly some people do still drown puppies/kittens and worse. Hopefully their days are numbered though.😘🤟

A bit confused I know the name of the town you're in but you mentioned Albacete. That would be inland north of Murcia? And it gets that cold at night? And snow? Wow!!! Glad Percy is getting a new life and things can get back to normal. Safe travels. We are looking forward to moving to Spain early in 2025 so I enjoy your videos and let's me know how many amazing areas we need to visit.

Yes we were heading to Albacete, but changed our minds and went to Chinchilla de Montearagón instead, which is the next village along. Yes, it can get very cold there in the winter.
We lost 3 cats within a few months, with age related issues the year before we left the UK. It was a horrendous time. All 3 were incredibly affectionate and huge purrsonalities, which makes it harder.
We're trying our best to make things as easy as we can for Bart and our remaining 2 cats.

@findingxanadulife here I thought you were on your way to Turkey ... dying to go there ourselves. Someone had told us that maybe we should consider Albacete but definitely not if it's freezing in winter! Will stick closer to coast. Seems incredible that even in southern coast climates can vary. Some have warmer winters than other areas. Wierd. I'm sure there's some kind of winter and we will try to.stick it out with duvets. Goodness I remember staying with my husbands sister in Hammersmith in winter, they had heating but never put on, lol. We have 2 duvets each. I did not even want to take a shower but the towels warmers saved us. Lol we also have family in Chile and they never use heating. So wood burning stoves til house heats up and done. I used a hot water bottle atvthevfeetnofvthe bed under covers and it was delicious. I imagine you're getting a kick out of my stories. Maybe we will survive without using heat and maybe just working up house with chimney maybe not. We will see.
Stay safe! We lived in Panama in the mountains for 14 years and did without water or electricity that could be for hours, a day or days. So who knows.
Oh Elaine, what fabulous stories..! Potries has a microclimate and is usually 5°-10° warmer than the surrounding areas, but could still be bitter for a few weeks in winter.
We used the heating in the motorhome last year, but not as much as we would have liked, because we weren't sure about how far our LPG gas would stretch. We can be much more toasty this winter. 😬
When we leave at the end of the month, we would have been making our way to Turkey, the trip towards Albacete was just a short trip to try to bolster our spirits, with everything that was/is going on.
As it stands, we now have to take a trip to the UK first, but will head off to pastures new as soon as we can. 🤞🍀😘🤟

You guys are great and I appreciate you are honest with your comments/opinions. I keep crossing out areas because I don't want to be with strictly gringos, brits, Australian, French etc
I want to feel im in spain somewhat. We crossed out Benidorm and i think Torrevieja and a couple others. Keep researching. We researched a lot before moving to panama. We had land but built our house. Residency and drivers was a piece of cake. Building during rainy season was he'll but we beat all records. Looking back we should have knows what we were getting into for real like total isolation from humans. For 10 years! It affected us tremendously and we've been trying to work our brains as much as possible. But we learned about survival and many critters from the tropical forests. Boas, feur de lance, coral, scorpions (did not know there are so many kinds. And so many more. We even experienced ant migration. Lol it's crazy it's like a dark blanket moving and it.might go through your yard or even through middle of the house. You learn you just let them be and eventually they are gone. Nature is amazing! Im glad we experienced it. I even climbed the 5th tallest mountain in panama 5 times. What was I thinking!

Just amazing you have put one together for us all, as would have quite understood if you had wanted to take a week off from posting. A very moving, beautiful and fitting tribute to Seb. Oh my goodness Steve. Thank-you so much. We did not expect that. Sebastian has left a gaping hole in our lives, as he was such a huge character.
