I first heard this song when I was 12 and instantly cried. A few years later, I sung this at the funeral of a close friend who passed away too soon from cancer and i've not been able to listen to it since. It's been many years but tonight, I was sitting alone in my car and heard Jeff's voice creeping out of the car window next to mine. I heard this song again for the first time since that day and instantly cried. Music is powerful.

And died far, far too soon… Indeed, a real tragedy, and a huge loss to the music world. Buckley’s style of singing has hugely influenced my own, and my one electric guitar (though I mostly play the acoustic) is a Telecaster, also due to his influence…

@@charliesybert2683 @Charlie Sybert It's intriguing how the same song when listened by different people has different effects. I respect your opinion and the emotion that you felt by Mr. Scott's version. It was good but it was lacking for me. Buckley's triumphs but that's just me. I'm sure it's a 50/50 split and that is the beauty of music and art. Some see a Pollock painting and see genius while others see a blob of paint.

How many times have you heard someone say
If I had money, I would do things my way
But little they know that it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind
Money can't buy back, oh, your youth when you're old
A friend when you're lonely, oh, peace to your soul
The wealthiest person is a pauper at times
Compared to the man with a satisfied mind
When my life is over and my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones, I will leave them, no doubt
But one thing's for certain, when it comes my time
I'll leave this old world, oh yeah, ooh yeah, with a satisfied mind
One thing's for certain, when it comes my time, oh yeah
I'll leave this old world oh, with a satisfied mind
Mind, mind, mind, mind, satisfied mind

Jeff Buckley added a ton of feeling and real gusto to everything he played. This is specially notable in his covers, since you can compare them to the original versions. Such a tragedy to have lost him.

Being a fiercely independent person I would never conform and sacrifice to fit in.

I found out my hamster had a brain tumor when I turned 40, Alfred, I bought him at my parents pet store and raised him with love and admonishment. We traveled the city together, him in my pocket and me on my moped. Some days we would visit the comic book store and read Mighty Mouse. Alfred loved the stories and I could tell he wished he had a super power. Well I knew his days were numbered, so I made a cape and a special suit for Alfred, ( took me 3 weeks) and I took him to the highest building in my town. As I let go of his little hands I knew this was it... To my amazement, he hit the pavement and died instantly! The coroner said he probably died of a heart attack before he hit the ground. That makes me feel better, like a satisfied mind. R.I.P. Alfred.

      I had a pet Moose…. Same story.
He got the butthole cancer from drinking too much water at the public bathhouse. We stated a moose knitting club to raise awareness of his condition and pay for chemo. We made thousands of quality knitted blankets to sell online.
One late night he broke into the knitted blanket barn to take a nap. He fell asleep and a pile of blankets fell on him during his sleep.
There were literally tons of quality knitted blankets on top of him. No escape.
He died an agonizing death being crushed and suffocated Berger finally taking his last breath.
Corner said it was a brutal agonizing death.
This is a beautiful song thought. Love the vocals.

@@gelflingmama Not real friends, not the ones you grew up with, not those that have your back no matter what, not those that allow you to lean on them when you need to. And youth is a state of mind so it can't buy that either.

@@ryanmuddiman8224 I'm pretty sure it's his "musical stylings" and voice like fingernails on a chalk board. Kudos to him for sharing this on youtube, I wouldn't have the balls.

I don’t know how you can “not care” for Jeff Buckley. His beautiful voice and care for covers that were truly astonishing? How can you not appreciate him? Just asking...

stumbled upon this as i was looking for a Dave Fenley version of this song. I can't believe how good the Dave Fenley one is. Jeff Buckley just seems massively overrated. Quite disappointing really
