There's NO ONE who sings like Jeff Buckley. So much raw emotions, it hurts to hear his voice sometimes. It's like twisting a knife to an old wound. I miss him though. Always a fan of yours, Jeff. Rest in Paradise. 💘
Of course there's nobody who sings like Jeff Buckley. His enough and it would be a boring world if everyone sounded the same, pretty weird comment. But it's good to be weird
The comments on this thread made me want to cry a bit. You are all a very sensitive, lovely bunch. Hope you are all safe and well during this difficult period in history, wherever you are (I live in Japan). As for Jeff, he remains in our hearts (and ears) because we keep him alive by remembering, and by listening....

I sometimes avoid the feeling his music creates inside me. Like a voice so beautiful it hurts to hear; a gorgeous anguish of hearing heaven on the mean streets. Crazy. Maybe it's just that he's gone? Dunno. I imagine what I feel is felt inside a lot of his fans. I hope that collective feeling is the softest rain on his eternal face. He is so important to so many. JB, we love you, man.
You can see by his beautiful face and delicate but masculine features, that he was a sensitive person....what a handsome man and so gifted...he gave us his beautiful timeless music....
Every time I listen, it's impossible not to get a little emotional. It's asif I'm listening to a friend I lost. Something about him just echoes within me on a really deep and emotional level. He was a creature of beauty, and of pain, and I'd give just about anything to bring him back.
+Brad Lawrence The Bible shows that God has both the ability and the desire to bring back the dead. He keeps in his limitless memory a detailed record of each person he will resurrect by means of his almighty power. (Job 37:23; Matthew 10:30; Luke 20:37, 38) God is able to restore the dead to life, and he wants to! Describing the coming resurrection, the Bible says of God: “You will long for the work of your hands.”-Job 14:15....miss him and many many others ♥
+Jenny S I missed him when he was here, and that's why I wish he could come back! I have videos and and cds, but missed him live! So I'm new too! I'm like you, been stuck on him ever since , seeing all that I missed !
+Brad Lawrence Same thing with his old man , they were in totally different league of singers, they had talented and capable voice but the emotions that came out of them is hard to swallow . I just feel like making my self a cup of tea and sit next to window in warm room and just loose my self in their songs.
I remember 5 years ago this video had about 10-20 thousand views tops. Now it’s over 3 million. His popularity does keep growing with time. Simply amazing.
i love the original by elton john but this cover is just utterly haunting. i have a lot of nostalgia tied to it too, as my dad would play jeff buckley in the car all the time when i was little and especially this song. i'm able to appreciate the beauty of it i think now that i'm in my teens, i can't even listen to this song without tearing up a bit. agonizingly beautiful
Why are people saying this? This is an original Jeff Buckley song. Did elton john do a cover of it maybe? Idk, but I know for a fact Buckley wrote this song
Sometime, i take back the thumb up i gave just to click on it again. Just because... you know... I love this song and i have to prove it more than once.
+Jessi REAME Elton John wrote this song... I love it , and I love Buckley 's version , but sometimes it's a good thing to know what we are listening to ...
Marianne why do you assume the guy doesn't know this is an Elton John song? Sometimes it's good to know that Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics to this and every other Elton John song ever .. but I'm sure you already knew :)
Elton wrote the music. Taupin wrote the lyrics. Elton is amazing composer. Taupin is amazing storyteller. Best songwriting duo there is in my opinion. Lennon/McCartney very close second.
Jeff Buckley inspired me to learn to play the guitar. As a 13 year old, I was absolutely blown away by him. Now im 31 years old, and his music still touches my soul. Every time I listen to him, I feel like im dreaming or something? His voice, playing style...just very ethereal. Im a self proclaimed "Buckhead" lol...Idk if that's an actual thing? But it damn sure should be! He left this earth WAY to soon. I try to imagine and envision the amazing music that this world never got the chance to hear, had he lived longer. He was so talented. Makes me sad when I listen to him. Rest peacefully man! U will be forever missed, and continue to influence musicians throughout the remainder of human history. Peace brother!
I was just thinking how you feel his soul in these songs. He makes his music visceral, it resonates inside of you. He was a gift, and like so many taken too early.
A lament to that which cannot be understood : it just is...faint, melancholy, remorseful, dreadfully reflective, Jeff paints every lyric with the weight of emotion intended...a pretty boy who is so very balanced: wondrous...and I met him too late, but he haunts the halls of every heart that hears his plaintive gentleness....leaves an abyss no one else can fill....
There's some very special things on the internet and this is one of them.. I don't like anyone covering artists like Elton and bowie but this is so GOOD
@@THEREALSEVEN ohhh Lord what an awful thing to say! Jeff Buckleys version isn't even that different. He makes his own thing yet it's close to the original.
there is something so special about this man. I am so envious of the people who got to know him. he is a jewel that was stolen from us. even in this, his music transcends through time. he is truly ageless.
Take this ... and Hallelujah ... this man picks up songs and kind of making them his own....he gives his own way of singing each song and looks like completely diff in each way... or it is just me
I'm a huge Elton John/Bernie Taupin fan, and this 1975 CAPTAIN FANTASTIC song is one of their best. But Lord, Mr. Buckley sings it as if it was his own. Quite different with guitar instead of piano. Lovely.
Always that little sensitive pain in his marvelous voice remembering we are human being, we can suffer or be happy, and we can fall in love sometimes! Thank you! I share it in my blog. Ciao
I love to know Jeff Buckley for about 20 yrs now, and still don't know every one of his songs....What a joy it is to fall in love with, yet, another song from him that I didn't know...
Cynthia, I found out about Jeff a couple of years ago. And I was active learning and playing music all through the 90's. He was a shooting star and not too many of us recognized his genius when he was alive. His album Grace is one of the greatest musical accomplishments ever. I learned to play a couple of his songs because they are so beautiful. No one can sing (or play) like him, but I feel it's important to be able to hear his music produced by human hands and in real time. I feel the loss of Jeff over and over.

God so do I! I get into this trance and listen to Jeff for days and just cry and cry, like today. Its my birthday and Im alone, except for this ethereal voice and beautiful face.
god I miss you jeff. Saw you in 92 and you were just hair-on-the-back-of-the-neck tingling. Jeff was a master craftsman and I can't think of a single artist since him that is as unique. No matter what Jeff touches, it all turns to gold.
The thing I've always wondered about Buckley's songs is how can they be so full while being just guitar and voice? Two elements: voice and guitar, yet he lacks nothing. A true phenom... Edit: I know this is a cover of an EJ's song.
Jeff Buckleys legacy will never be surpassed, only here like a shooting star across our musical sky...burned out way too quickly. U2 frontman Bono summed up Jeff in one swift and digestible quote, "He was a pure drop, in an ocean of noise"!! Who knows really the conjecture surrounding his future in music, he was multifaceted and of course notably talented in all arenas of his gift towards music....in saying that his diversity would have carried him far. Jeff was uncomfortable about the connection (musically) with his father Tim, but both have made huge contributions to music...all because of their flexibilty and dire need to translate their experimental genius for all to witness and share. Long live both Buckleys...you rocked our world with your humility and grandeur ..we are grateful!!
Jeff Buckley and Layne Stayley were the 2 greatest singers of the 90s bar none. Just incredible falsetto and emotion here. Fantastic cover of a great Elton John song.
I like him and his Dad, but the majority of both was pretensious crap. They did well when they did pop stuff though. Tim's last two albums were his best.
For some people he makes them "feel" too much, it makes them uncomfortable. Real art has this effect(comforts the upset, and upsets the comfortable) One fan that went to his shows at Cafe Sine said she found it difficult to watch an entire set...i know what she means. Jeff touched deep parts of us that are seldom reached- it can be painful or sublime or all the above.
When I feel lost I turn to this man’s majestic voice.. I was fortunate to see him in the flesh in my late teens..🙏 A voice that is haunting, beautiful & otherworldly ✨💫
+Mark Papa I totally agree that would be an AWESOME pairing, I think Jeff was just too pure for this world ( and is in great company with Roy in Heaven )
He was certainly melancholy and at times disturbed, but I know he also had lots of happiness. His fans loved him and he knew it. He got the chicks, he wasn't denied that.
He had the brilliance of the self taught as opposed to the overly trained classical opera or art song singer with absolutely flawless technique. There are some small glitches and imperfections in his voice despite its absolute transcendent quality which on occasion make the voice sound a bit pinched because the transition from chest to head voice is different in a rock singer. Most of his falsetto range is incredibly open and big but on OCCASION and I mean RARELY there is the slightest bit of a struggle to reach those big beautiful notes and I've never heard ANYONE else who's high falsetto range was so open and big. The occasional just slightly noticeable struggle to get to that purity, that smallest of flaws in what would otherwise be a completely translucent diamond, is what gives his voice that extra "edge". Jeff Buckley was above all else a rock god in waiting but one with the purest and most ethereal soul to ever reach for that crown. He wore it all too briefly but now he wears it in eternity. Rock, soul, pop, folk, blues, country, American standards - Jeff could sing it ALL but it ALL had the brilliance and the yearning and the passion of the self taught. Jeff may have gotten some good genetic material from his biological father but his drive, passion, influences and adaptations were all his own. He was in many ways far too pure for this world.
Dislikes here ???? What a shame. This song is simply brilliant ! Forget the few idiots with no brain and no idea what good music is . Jeff Buckley you will listen in 100 years or more.. .! Thanks for upload this jewel, B.L.,germany
He was just so brave and courageous and confident in his ability to make music! His desire and truth takes my breath away, in this song he sounds a bit like a very pure, crystal clear Sting, maybe!
Oh my God! I had no idea Jeff had ever covered this song! And, the song is from my favorite of Elton John's albums! Jeff Buckley had a way of taking the best of the best, and making it a Jeff Buckley masterpiece ...
There's is something about his voice. About him as a whole. The way he can put so much emotion into a song he wrote or into a song someone else wrote. It fills you and inspires you. If only more musicians were like him. If only....
I adore the way he expresses how he feels not only through his music and his lyrics but also by his voice, the way each and every word he says, screams how he feels exactly, he expresses it so well. Forever in my heart and my head.
I'm a huge fan of Elton. Been a huge fan of Jeff Buckley. Jeff took songs and his voice are just amazing. I love Jeff, I love Elton . The music and love they have given us is timeless and will be forever . Jeff Buckley, what a beautiful soul and forever missed ❤
How did I just discover this amazingly beautiful musician just now? ( I just watched the movie "My Sister's Keeper' and had to immediately go and look up the song that played during the final credits. I then went on to look up more songs and info on the artist) Beautiful musicianship. and I'm so sad to discover that this lovely voice and guitar playing (and face, becuase wow very beautiful handsome guy) belongs to someone who passed when I was 15 years old.
Im always amazed at the level of depth that is shared in these coments. Jeff just brought it out in people. He always reminds me and holds the possibility that i or anyone can be extraordinary creative...from the source
Jeff taught me that there is nothing wrong for a male to be very sensitive. What a loss his death.
Gburg. Such an awful thing to say dude.
ArtjomGlad Yes he was. You just have to listen to his interviews...What am I saying?...you just have to listen to his music.
Definitely "sensitive". Of course, that does not mean he was not also "curious". To me, JB just seemed "perfect". :)

it's crazy how you know it's Jeff Buckley within the first couple of notes. he had such a unique way with his guitar... just amazing.
+Louis Grant he had this way of finding tones on his guitar that I've never heard in any other music... I don't know how he did it
He was a session guitarist before starting his singing career
he has a very steady way of playing, especially opening. It sets a sparsity that you don't often hear, but it is a real signature.
To be honest, I thought it was Sting.😮

Wise men say
It looks like rain today
It crackled on the speakers
And trickled down the sleepy subway trains
For heavy eyes could hardly hold us
Aching legs that often told us
It's all worth it
We all fall in love sometimes
The full moon's bright
And starlight filled the evening
We wrote it and I played it
Something happened it's so strange this feeling
Naive notions that were childish
Simple tunes that tried to hide it
But when it comes
We all fall in love sometimes
Did we, didn't we, should we couldn't we
I'm not sure `cause sometimes we're so blind
Struggling through the day
When even your best friend says
Don't you find
We all fall in love sometimes
And only passing time
Could kill the boredom we acquired
Running with the losers for a while
But our Empty Sky was filled with laughter
Just before the flood
Painting worried faces with a smile
Thank you
💔
I always thought the line was "running with illusions for awhile"

Jeff Buckley and Layne Stayley were the 2 greatest singers of the 90s bar none. Just incredible falsetto and emotion here. Fantastic cover of a great Elton John song.
Will forever be grateful to have discovered your music as a teen, 13 years ago. Your sound soothes me every time.
Voice of an angel.
how is it possible for some people to dislike THIS ?
I will never understand
I like him and his Dad, but the majority of both was pretensious crap. They did well when they did pop stuff though. Tim's last two albums were his best.
For some people he makes them "feel" too much, it makes them uncomfortable. Real art has this effect(comforts the upset, and upsets the comfortable) One fan that went to his shows at Cafe Sine said she found it difficult to watch an entire set...i know what she means. Jeff touched deep parts of us that are seldom reached- it can be painful or sublime or all the above.
When I feel lost I turn to this man’s majestic voice..
I was fortunate to see him in the flesh in my late teens..🙏
A voice that is haunting, beautiful & otherworldly ✨💫
I don't think I've heard anyone create such fluid tones with a telecaster. No matter how much I try, this tone is completely unattainable.
Gotta get that right amp! Maybe even pedal too. Maybe even switch out your pickups!
The pickups were custom wound by a guy named Jeffrey Lawler.
+Spandan Madan Listen to Roy Buchanan playing Messiah or Thank You Lord and imagine Roy backing Jeff. It's my dream pairing,
+Spandan Madan Borrow the tele from a girlfriend like Jeff did. ;-)
+Mark Papa I totally agree that would be an AWESOME pairing, I think Jeff was just too pure for this world ( and is in great company with Roy in Heaven )
Jeff, thank you so much for all the music... And now you just R. I. P., I guess your heaven is The Music itself. See you there, one day...
He is the embodiment of the music of angels and the angel of music.
He was certainly melancholy and at times disturbed, but I know he also had lots of happiness. His fans loved him and he knew it. He got the chicks, he wasn't denied that.
Could really hear his Dad in this haunting song. What a loss, both of them. Such a beautiful tune.
it's addictive listening to these song, Unfortunately, artist today have no inspiration and no talent for music. Is this your favorite song from jeff?
A sadly missed, true shining light in the world of music. The heavens will be filled with a new found melancholic hue thanks to JB's genius.
He was in many ways far too pure for this world.
its like a warm hug
great voice, absolutely love it. RIP, he could have done anything with that voice.
One of my favorite Elton songs, Jeff’s mournful take is just achingly beautiful ❤
Such an an enchanting voice. How the world of music would be different with his genius still present today..
Dislikes here ???? What a shame.
This song is simply brilliant !
Forget the few idiots with no brain and no idea what good music is .
Jeff Buckley you will listen in 100 years or more.. .!
Thanks for upload this jewel,
B.L.,germany
He was just so brave and courageous and confident in his ability to make music! His desire and truth takes my breath away, in this song he sounds a bit like a very pure, crystal clear Sting, maybe!
So very gifted, for sure...
We won't let you be forgotten, Jeff.
Senza parole.Io amo lle voci rauche , ma la sua voce è così unica e rimango ad sentire le sfumature . È incredibile come canta❤
Oh my God! I had no idea Jeff had ever covered this song! And, the song is from my favorite of Elton John's albums! Jeff Buckley had a way of taking the best of the best, and making it a Jeff Buckley masterpiece ...
So powerful as an acoustic guitar song. Simplicity at its finest -
There's is something about his voice. About him as a whole. The way he can put so much emotion into a song he wrote or into a song someone else wrote. It fills you and inspires you. If only more musicians were like him. If only....
Imagine this beautiful angel being and his voice singing you to sleep... heaven ✨
Jeff Buckley was an amazing artist! We miss you Jeff!! Rest in peace! ❤️
I adore the way he expresses how he feels not only through his music and his lyrics but also by his voice, the way each and every word he says, screams how he feels exactly, he expresses it so well. Forever in my heart and my head.
love his voice and face

( I just watched the movie "My Sister's Keeper' and had to immediately go and look up the song that played during the final credits. I then went on to look up more songs and info on the artist) Beautiful musicianship. and I'm so sad to discover that this lovely voice and guitar playing (and face, becuase wow very beautiful handsome guy) belongs to someone who passed when I was 15 years old.
