ive always enjoyed it since ep one... solo leveling was my first manhwa and to this day its one of my favorites.

The way that the anime portrayed the wipe was so good. The music, the visuals, the sound effects… it’s all just incredible. A1 did a phenomenal job
This was the only chapter that was "great" so far. The serie started too slow and many outsiders probably didn't understand the hype of the readers, gave up early and couldn't enjoy such scene.
They managed to create something unique with the resources they had. Something that neither the LN nor the Manga could achieve. The voice of the protagonist, the rhythm and the music were almost perfect.

In my read, watch, and reread, I didn't see it as the system saying "Do the quest or I'll kill you", I saw it as "Do the quest, or you'll die". The system needs him to live so IT wouldn't kill him itself, but it's trying to instill a stronger sense of self preservation within him.
There is bloodlust directed at you, if you do not kill them, they will kill you (your heart will stop).
I agree with you and for me when he say´s "I have gotten numb to all that" that in my mind that also includes, that he was gettin numb to all his near death experiences and the system tries to stop him from thinking that this is okay and that Sung becomes more active in preventing such situations.
That doesn't make sense if you think about it. The system has so far proven it's not afraid to put him into situation that could kill him if he doesn't complete the task. Besides, you don't need to kill them to render them incapacitated. The system wanted them dead despite there being another way to approach the situation. Perhaps it responded to his wishes and that's why it said to kill them to give him an excuse to do what he wanted from the start.
@@icebox1954 You know, that's a valid point. The way I see it, the system has an intricate plan and process. It knows what it's doing. It can't account for random outside threats and bloodlust directed at him by unpredictable humans...
@@icebox1954 Honestly? That was a teaching moment. You ever saw superhero/anime/literally any media where the hero beats the bad guy that clearly wanted to kill the main character, they get spared, and they come again for round two and the process repeats? This is the system saying "Don't give them another chance, be ruthless or you won't survive."
That is also how I interpreted it when I read it the two times through. Like the system is letting Jin know there is a threat in a warning kind of way, because it needs him to know they have murderous intent towards him. I also love how Jin always knows that he is under threat but the enemy never knows he knows lol. N then they f*ck around and find out.
When Dark Aria started playing, it almost felt like the lyrics were being sung towards the viewer, especially the part “Sad you had to wait for me; feels like an eternity”
Constant ups and downs where he keeps learning I think is the best way to portray this series. And I know I say this as an anime-only watcher, but by the sounds of it, seeing Jinwoo struggle and learning sounds so much more interesting than "I solo leveled (hah) for 2 months and am now stronger than anyone" because even if he has already done that, he still has things to learn in the anime - even learning to have confidence.
That is the entire point and appeal of the manwha and novel tho I and many others didn’t read it because we saw him struggling and whiny every wee we read it because it was crazy to see him come in with confidence and wipe the entire raid by himself that hunters were struggling with. We read it to see him become even more cracked and broken and it not like he doesn’t struggle but that only in the player dungeons and when the real story comes to light everything here on out should be a breeze.
As a Manhwa reader, I KNEW that if A1 adapted this series CORRECTLY...then it was going to go HARD and the community as a whole would be losing it's collective MIND!!!
Real shame the criticism some give is just to try to be different. Looking back to the beginning of the story, acquiring the system and his sudden personality/demeanor change makes a lot more sense. Hopefully they get some more perspective after they start the world building in the anime adaptation.

@@LuigiL75 it’s hard not to blame it on short form media, tik tok, shorts, reels, even Snapchat has their version of it. I read up on Solo leveling over the span of maybe 4 days, sure had more action than other stuff but the current nature of having that constant release of dopamine seems unhealthy. When I was younger there wasn’t always a constant need for entertainment. Unfortunately for me, tinnitus is crippling without some form of background noise to keep me from focusing on it.
@@jocerv43 Yeah, saw it all over the comment sections. People simply don't have the patience anymore and they just want action on top of action, but even when it's provided, somehow it's still not enough. It was the same stuff with vinland saga and other ones

To me that's important and all too if it fails to sound the way I expected i'll be dissapointed but the moment I'm waiting for is to see how they execute the Shadows...if Arise hits and the effect to u know what fails to look as good as the manwha than I'll just drop the show.@@socialbrick4947

after episode #1..i went crazy and bought all 8 volumes and read it all in a week then bought the audio version and listened to it all again...to say it simply the story hit me hard, an instant bliss rotation like finding the cool side of the pillow. I enjoyed listening to your breakdown of what wasn't said in the anime but the colab of everything, full dive! Excellent work sir!!
I found the anime so good that I just ended up reading the manhwa, first manhwa ive read, finished it in about a week
I was interested already, this episode has me hooked. That scene, paired with that absolute banger of a song..... So amazing. I watched that scene alone 4 times over.

Honestly I didn’t expect the anime to be so goood as the Manhwa.I love how good its paced,the added scenes we have gotten,music and etc.Hopefully I don’t jinx it but keep the pacing like this, so many anime adaptation just skip through small moments I love just to get to the next arc or next event.These small moments imo build character/,relationships,and memorable moments.
As someone who has read through the manhwa, having more stuff added to what I know about it from your videos is really interesting.

After that episode my opinion went from “good show” to “they arnt making a show they are creating art “and boi was that episode beautiful. The music tied it together so well.

As someone who hasn't seen the web novel only promises that it's super great I was always gonna give it a chance and it was decent but not unheard of in many isekai they have a similar feel of the first episodes but this episode made me feel like: Whoa now I'm starting to get it! definitely excited for the next episodes, the music on this scene really played a big part to make it feel so special
I WILL SAY THE THING THAT PLACES SOLO LEVELING APART FROM OVER POWERED MC TROPES IS THAT HE IS INFLUENCED BY THE SITUATIONS HE IS IN AND HE INFLUENCES THE SITUATION AS WELL...MOST OP MC ONLY INFLUENCE THE SITUATION AND AREN'T THEMSELVES INFLUENCED IN RETURN. BASICALLY HOW REAL LIFE WORKS STARS INFLUENCE MANY BUT ARE INFLUENCED BY THEIR STATUS, AND AUDIENCE.
The best part of this episode is the monologue. Bro was so cold and sending chills in every line
I watch the web novel, i think, when gigguk made his video on solo leveling, i said why not and read the first one... and couldn't stop it was great and when i got the news that they will be an anime i was hype and scare because of "the manga is better" meme but after this episode, with THE MUSIC and THE F SHADOW?! i didn't think they would make the shadows look this good omg i... i love what they have made this far. And i love you videos too, so it's a big win for me. ♥♥♥♥♥
Having not read the manwha/webnovel etc, but watching the anime adaption. I am enjoying the roller coaster ride of ups and downs for our protagonist. To use your words, it keeps him more or less human, and I think everyone loves watching our heroes struggle and overcoming the odds as opposed to flicking the wrist and winning without contest. Much better storytelling because even though becoming over powered is the point, the journey (and struggle to get) there is just as important.
SIT TIGHT BCZ THE SHOW CONTINUES EVEN AFTER HE ATTAINS HIS GOAL...AND THAT'S WHERE EVERYTHING CHANGES.
Part of the enjoyment is that Jinwoo never fully grasps the power of opponents, as he enjoys his solo adventures. Every battle is a life-or-death battle because he doesn't know if they will 1-shot him or visa versa.
Solo leveling is such a well paced show it easily hooked me with the whole world building and character so perfectly paced development. I'm loving it and it does show its one of the big powerhouse Manhuas out there. This and Kings Avatar are my most anticipated Manhuas of the industry right now. Need more ep ^_^

Even though I've previously read the manhwa, the mix between the animation and the soundtrack definitely give the anime that extra push of enjoyment and immersion! (Besides that bloody transition on the last ep, that shall never be mentioned -_-;).

The moment i heard it had an anime i was scared to see the animation not be given the love it deserved after reading manhwa and after episode 4 and 6 i believe it was i have full faith that once Sung Jin Woo does his first "Arise" will be amazing and that the show will excell in the coming seasons.
The teasers for his aura looked so amazing i dont have much of a doubt his full power and his shadows will look amazing

Probably something in between? It's entertaining and the anime is so far doing pretty well with the story. I would call it "good" so far, but it's going to have competition. You need some extra oomph to get into the "greats" category.
"Mid", at least for me, is more like something I'll watch if I'm bored or in the mood for that type of thing, but not really special. I haven't read the Manga so I don't know if this will drift that direction. "Start weak" --> "instantly back to power fantasy" has been done many times. Normally stories can only do so much with a character that just wrecks everything, but it's also a matter of pacing. Getting really strong really quickly is needed in a short story, but it can kill a long one.

I read the entire thing and while it's good, it's not nearly as 'great' as so many people claim. After a certain point it looses all tension as we 100% know what's going to happen and how things will play out, at least until a specific point when things shift.

I sincerely doubt it's going to win much of anything and will likely go down as 2024's Reign of the 7 spell blades - Good animation desperately trying to cover up for a total lack of character development.
