- It's finally Halloween season! Whether you're going to an 18th century ball, looking for a classic Marie Antoinette Style up do for a Halloween costume, or whether you just want to feel exceedingly fancy at home, this basic 18th century hair do gives that classic period drama vibe that we all know and love. And it only takes around five minutes to do!

hello, at the time of Marie-Antoinette, some of the hair do were very high, women used to put a small sailing boat on their head, or even a living bird in a cage .... it could be funny to try the last one with a false bird instead (like a crow for Halloween) !
If I recall correctly, we actually don't know for sure if those were real hair accessories, or if those illustrations were meant to make fun of big hair via exaggeration
@@PyroGothNerd of course there were some caricatures, very cruel specially for Marie-Antoinette, but there are some documents from Rose Bertin, her "modiste" about those crazy hair do (poufs) and hats. People in Versailles didn't wear that on a daily basis, but for parties, at the Opera or for carnaval. At a time the width of the "paniers" under the robes were also a concern, as women were not able to cross a door without turning on profile. Excuse me if my English is not perfect, this is not my main language !
Now I wanna do my hair up 4 feet tall with a large bird cage with a live parrot in it. It's a dream but I love to look like a queen while I walk in public with people who don't wear this hair.
