It is a government inspired crisis this time. The Treasury have to sell Bonds to cover the trade imbalance and the government spending imbalance. In order to sell them they have to raise interest rates and the old long-term, low risk, low interest, AAA investments (including Treasury Bonds), held by the banks (often due to government regulatory policy), become next to worthless. The next milestone is the 15th when the government issue a new batch of Bonds. I have approximately $350k stagnant in my port_folio that needs growth. What is the best way to take advantage of this downturn?

The outstanding catch-up measures currently in place are unquestionably due to the Fed, as they were first too sluggish to contain inflation. The epidemic, supply-chain concerns, and the situation in Ukraine are all factors in the looming perfect storm of inflation. Not to mention the sharp increase in housing expenses, another factor that makes it challenging for the Fed to control inflation. It doesn't matter how much people spend on buying dip if people have far less money going forward. Also if anyone knows anything about the market, the rally we have seen over the past few weeks is pretty irrelevant, because it can be wiped out in a day or two, and it's been happening for an entire year now. Using "waitlist times" as an indicator of how "busy" a restaurant is, can be a false valuation. Yes, waitlist times can be impacted by level of customer impact, but so can customer to employee ratios, i.e., the number of waiter/waitresses working that day. If there are fewer employees serving customers, the waitlist times will undoubtedly go up. In this environment, the restaurant could be half full, but still have the waitlist times of a restaurant that is packed. And we're absolutely seeing evidence of the former across all sections of the hospitality and service industry in the country. Post-Covid, this industry is struggling to find employees (another reason the labor market remains so strong, despite the avalanche of tech layoffs).

The CEOs plan for lots of new fabs is a big bet. I dont think it'll work if they are already falling behind + loans wont be paid if they lose cashflow.

I've narrowed down my portfolio to Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon as my key holdings. The others are regional banks that I bought in mid March and plan on holding them for one or more years while their prices recover. I consider these turnarounds that will likely include some 5 to 10 baggers, as historical prices show (including the 2008 crisis).

I just bought more stocks few minutes ago. Tying up money due to an apocalyptic stock market crash is also not a smart move. Life is a risk and it's better to take risks than to do nothing, you can't always expect to make huge profits all the time, people have so many opinions about a recession/depression. In just 5 months my portfolio grew by $300k in gross profit, the main thing is to diversify your portfolio and you will see amazing results by investing smartly.

@0:38 Exactly what younger, less experienced people said back in 2008 and 2001 (and many similar scenario's before that), right before getting absolutely wrecked. Buy the dip is not a new thing, and I can guarantee you 1000% a lot of younger folks thought they were smarter than the market in a bear market back then because they were more "educated," blah, blah, blah, than previous generations. Its just good, old fashioned hubris, and your generation is not the first or the last or the most or or the least of anything. If in fact the bottom(s) is in and you acquired shares reasonably close to bottom(s) and we head up from here for many years, it was just luck and not because you are more "educated" or any other such nonsense. I picked up plenty of shares in my target stocks reasonably close to 2022 bottom(s), however, I am fully prepared and at least partially hedged for the the market to decide to go the other way. I give it a 75% chance we at least go back to test the 2022 lows (indices), and a 50% we break them and go lower. Way too early to take victory laps.
