Hi , I'm also an sv1 owner ( first generation) .... Fantastic keyboard but there's something wrong with the piano samples (output) if you compère it with the other sounds. Most of the time... Sounds to light , no body... I used the eq for better sounding but still difficult. About the Rhodes and the rest ... No problem . Every time I play the Rhodes .... It sounds great. It would be great to have a new sample pack with better piano sounds. Thanks Chuck for this review
Haha! I was just trying to find out what keyboard was used on Riders on the Storm today with the guitar shop owner in my town since thats what im currently learning. We found out it was a Fender Rhode and now you're playing it on this video! Funny coincidence!
Hi, Chuck! Thanks for this demo video! Question: Do you buy all of these cool keyboards that you review, or borrow some of them? I really love this candy apple red color on this SV-1. I would've bought this color if it was available when I bought my SV-1. :-( I got the all black SV-1 and absolutely love it, and I still like it better than the new Korg Grandstage, even though the SV-1 has a lot less programs and doesn't have the ability to split and layer sounds/timbres. The SV-1 just looks so unique and cool, sounds terrific, and that RH3 keybed is the best IMHO! Cheers, Chuck!
I think one of the best changes Korg made was put an amber color LED, instead of the horrible blue ones they had on tubes back in the Triton Extreme line.
one issue to note is that if you sum the L/R outputs to mono, the Chorus 2 effect cancels itself out. Talking about similar keyboards, the KingKorg virtual analog synth is the companion to the SV-1, with the same effects structure/controls and tube circuit. Did not hear the Rx layer mentioned, which is a big unique feature of the SV-1.
Hey PianoManChuck do you ask manufacturers to send you equipment for review or do they approach you? I also run music channel and I needed your help with this
Hi Chuck, Excellent review you´ve done here, thanks for that....now tell me if I have the money to buy just one digital piano, what would you recommed me....Nord Piano 3...or the new Korg SV1, I know the SV1 is $1000 cheaper than the piano 3....greetings from Rosario, Arg.
Hi Gustavo, thanks for your comment. As far as deciding between the Korg SV-1 and the Nord Piano 3... here's your answer: ua-cam.com/video/CVSsmYCgMi4/v-deo.html
Not sure.... the SV-1 is still very much alive and strong in all color combinations, but not sure if certain color combinations are leftovers from the years they made it or if they're still actively producing those color combinations. Best to check directly with Korg on that one.
is there still a reason to get this where grand stage is around the corner ? However i hate grand stage look. Is ugly. Hope that they just put in grand stage engine into SV1 and change nothing on the interface.
great presentation great channel. Talented and so pleasant you are Chuck. Would you recommend it? I don't like Yamaha heavy action like the U-1 acoustics but rather prefer Kawaii type action but where can I find it on a digital with great roads and wurly emu and built in efx?
Actually the Kawai MP7 has that great Kawai action with some very impressive organs (including the means to control all of the stops)! I did several videos about the MP7, including a review. Here's a link to the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PL4lH80nobNBLK3RBRMFKL-UlRuY6BdOaS.html
thanks chuck.. i was thinking tho about getting a midi 88 keyboard piano action and buying a spectrosonics "keyscape" vst - would you recommend that plugin? and what 88/73 midi controller would you recommend buying? Currently I'm using a dx7 and I love the action but it's 61 keys and not hammer weighted. I want a 73/76/88 piano action like a roads or a piano I guess :d
This looks cool but has design flaws. There is no room for anything on top and the keybed is too spongey and also breaks way too easily. Shame as the concept was great, just poorly executed.
Thank you! I've been stuck in the mud trying do decide what key board to buy. Not anymore. Based on your thorough overview I see things I didn't even know I was looking for. Thank you again for your gift of time, attention and sharing.
That thing sounds really good.
these vids make me jealous
One thing I like about it is simplicity
love your chanel!... I have now my kronos because of your reviews
Thanks Mark... Kronos is still one of my all time favorite boards (had mine since 2011)!
Subscribed! And I really need this red beauty now!! :D Thanks for the video!!!
Nice review Chuck. I have a sv1-73. Fantastic keyboard with amazing vintage sounds. Love your channel.
Thanks Silvio!

Thanks for doing this, Chuck!
It was fun!
Good analogy Piano Man Chuck!
Thanks... and I had fun making that analogy too!

We'll be seeing some kind of successor before the year turns over, more sneak peeks at the very least. Maybe that GrandStage will surface.

Is it possible to send inputs through the drive tube? thanks for answering

I've read the the SV-1 has had many keybed issues....has Korg resolved these issues?

Does it have onboard speakers?
No. The new model (SV-2) offers two models: with speakers, and without speakers.
PianoManChuck Thankyou mate appreciate it👍🏽

I think that what we have seen from the Grandstage is a prototype. Hope the finished one looks better!
Will you be demoing the GEM Promega 2+?
If I can get a review unit here (I've already contacted them...)

So I own a Nord Piano 2. How do the two stack up? What would you say are the main differences?
Elger van der Avoird Nord Piano 2 covers very similar ground. In my opinion, the nord has better build quality for gigging and a nicer action.

Introducing the..ugliest keyboard ever!
Classic cars and women are very similar
Chuck, another informative video. Thanks! How does the Korg action feel compared to the Casio Privia series (PX-5S specifically)?

love your review. Welcome to our office if convenient
