- 2001 Mustang GT with a 6.8L Triton V10 swap from an old farm truck
The Mustang still isn't running great, P0340 code for cam shaft position sensor. I think the issue is in the wiring harness.
Let me know if you have any ideas to fix it.
Please keep posting updates, im super interested in this project as ive been considering doing the same with a 3 valve in a new edge
id start by getting a wire schematic of the old truck. then check all your ground wires and make sure to run a ground from the engine to the chassis if you haven't already. just use the K.I.S.S. method. (keep it simple stupid) first grounds, fuel pressure, a data logger to get into the sensors and see what the sensors, fuel trims and what the timing is doing would also help. Good luck!
Definitely different & interesting swap. Hope you get it sorted out soon.
Ford did this as a prototype back when new edge firsr c0ame out. They used a aluminum block with cobra r v10 heads (impossible to find). It had a crossflow dual intake. Powered by 2 ecm's. One for each bank. NA it made nearly 500 horspower. Thanks to Obama this was shelved and a good reason why new edges didn't come with loads of hp from factory.
Ford actually made one with a v10 running dual v10 Ecu’s I believe. From the v10 pickup
Man keep posting, this is awesome.
So awesome!
We need more vids of this I got mustang 2004 i wanted to do this swap to
Cuh got a teeter hang up, lol cools build I search UA-cam for 2 days until I found this video I want one with a wide body
I was looking into doing this swap but all I hear are horror stories. V10s are really cool unfortunately problems aren’t lol
How did you setup your motor mounts? Custom? Flip them over? And is this spliced to use the factory mustang gage cluster?
Any progress on this?
🤯
Dashes indicate loss of pats, did you do a delete? Could be a ground issue too.
Sensors never go bad. Crank nor cam.
That code is because of the misfire, it’s a rabbit trail. Don’t chase the 0340 code.
What trans did you use.
Sounds like fuel delivery problem. What year v10, some years uses consistent rate pump, and fpr, some years used computer controlled pump pressure and fuel pressure sensor
U cant replicate what ford did. That was lighting in a bottle
Ecu
I tried a different ECU before this wiring work and it didn't run any differently. I am thinking once i get the MAF sensor wiring double checked it would be a good idea to try the other ECU again
Guarantee you this was not worth the time
UA-cam do not recommend
dont care
