Exactly. Rick Dunn and Jerry Cox have been turning calls for decades and they are top notch. There are a host of things that could have been done with the existing Echo that he had to improve the sound. Tuning the call to match his air. Or better yet, learn how to control his air to change the pitch. I've blown Slayer calls and they are okay--not trying to knock them. As a matter of fact a gentleman I hunted with this year was frustrated with his Slayer single reed because it was high pitched just like the Echo in this video. I took the call from him, adjusted the reed, and then handed it back to him--problem solved. Waterfowl hunting has gotten so commercialized it's sad. Everyone has to go out and buy the new shiny thing because they are "going to kill more ducks." Ducks and geese can be killed with any call if you know what you're doing and you're setup in the right spot. If you're new to calling pick up a Haydels DR-85 for $20 and learn the correct cadences and how to control your air. That's all you really need to be successful. Practice and knowledge is more powerful than marketing.
If you want to go cut down, your best option is RNT. You will need to learn them. As they use a lot of air, and they’re only single reed to my knowledge.
I have RNT alpha 2 and it’s a double reed. For a double reed it’s not as an easy to blow as some of my other calls but if you can learn to control your air and hit the right notes consistently it’s probably my duckiest call. More of a finishing call it’s not crazy loud
Nice job fellas. I recently graduated from my beginner calls. Got a couple mondos and a echo timber. I will check slayer out. It seems the single reeds are go to! Just remember a lot of air on the cut down. But sounds amazing
A double reed will be easier to blow and sound like a duck. Period. I will say, you get way more rasp out of a single reed. Once you go single reed and learn how to blow it, you won’t go back. They also freeze up way less since the reeds don’t get stuck together. My favorite are echo and red neck reaper. Redneck reaper is handmade by a gentleman in Oklahoma and they are half the cost of other BIG name manufacturers.
Interesting to try and talk bad about Echo, some of the best calls there is

This whole video is fishy. They say they have a limit then shoot a banded mallard? The entire deal seems fake imo.
Sold! I'm currently looking at getting the ranger double but now I think I'll get the wood duck and goose combo too! Mahalo for sharing your video.
Congratulations to you and Chris! Awesome footage and so cool to see real results in the field.

Ol raspy, mallard call from duck comander.... 25 dollars, it's my only call and I've been killing limits for years

Facts
It looks like a promotional video of slayer calls..Slayer calls are good but as compare to echo ... really
Seem like nice guys but don’t know s**t about duck calling both have a lot of practicing and work to do.

1:17 well now I literally don't want you're opinion. I want the opinion of a veteran hunter/caller
