- Опубліковано 17 чер 2021
- New for 2021, the Harley Pan America is an attempt by Harley Davidson to cut into the ever blossoming, but increasingly competitive Adventure Bike market. Can the Harley Davidson Pan America compete with the likes of the BMW R1250GS, KTM 1290 Super Adventure, Ducati Multistrada, Honda Africa Twin, or Triumph Tiger 1200?
A huge thanks to Guildford Harley Davidson for the loan of their demo for this vid.

Loved that Bruce! That poor poor bike us two jumping up and down on it!! 😂
Unpopular opinion. I actually like the looks. It's growing on me.
Me too. It's very American in a cool muscle car sort of way.
I think you're in the minority, Stuart.
What, like warts you mean.....
you're not the first blind person to say it looks good....
I reckon it looks like a hat full of busted crabs arse holes .
Showing my age here - is it only me but from the front all I can see is K-9 from Dr Who.
Loved the review though.
That’s reassuring. When I pull off mine rises too 😁
LOL 😂
It’s not my cup of tea at all, but I’m happy it exists: more competition is good to keep the established brands on their toes. Also, more choice for us so since I’m sure there will be people this bike will appeal to 🙂
Loved my test ride so much I bought one - picked her up last Wednesday - past the break-in now. Love that engine and ARH is amazing.
Nicely done mate. This review had everything, even a Lamb Chops special guest appearance! Haha. Been anticipating this review, and did not disappoint! Impressive machine, I would definitely enjoy throwing a leg over this. Fantastic edit and camera work, A1 as usual 🔝🎥🎬👍🏻
The “ One” and the “Chops” are a hilarious duo…..👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
you two riding pillion was hilarious. keep up the great work
Excellent review sir! You are a funny guy and the two up riding is the first I've seen with any PA review.
I also like your strait way of critiquing the front brakes and the front end dive. Thanks for a very honest review!
No worries Todd, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great video TPO! Enjoyed that 👍🏻
Loving the pillion opinions. Something that always seems to get overlooked.
I applaud Harley for trying something new ,but it is a very tough market especially with the excellent offerings available from Honda, Yamaha, KTM etc .
Well done! Brilliant 1st review!
Brilliant!! Special superstar guest appearance was a great surprise. Fantastic review as well, of course. Mmmmmmm still not passing opinion on the looks until I’ve seen one but generally you got to tip your hat to Harley haven’t you. Cheers Bruce! 👍👍
The toaster oven/fairing looks alot better when painted the same color as the rest of the bike.
Crossover Episode!!!
Where your heroes from 2 different shows come together for a cuddle.
This must be the worlds ultimate bike test having TeaPot and Chopsie on the same bike.HD must taken out special Insurance for this test.Great review considering TeaPot has a GS to make an honest comparison.Awesome video.thks.
Most entertaining Pan Am review to date!
I totally enjoy my Pan America. I’d be expecting the speed shifter soon. Harley has already acknowledged the desire’s of ADV riders for that feature.
Thanks bud 👍
This was one of the best videos I’ve seen this year, loved LCR coming out for a pillion bimble. It’s never to be knocked as loads of bikes I’ve looked at immediately my pillion just says why?!? Before we’ve even left the dealer and Chops ain’t small, so it must have decent leg length. Something that stopped me buying the KTM (my pillion is 5”9 albeit I’m only 5”11) anyway I’m rambling - really enjoyed that watch!
Waiting for my special black vivid one coming to Cyprus... Quite excited! Thanks for the ride Folks :-)
Enjoyed the review Teapot thanks. Ithink I sense a new double act developing!
That was a good review! Was entertaining with LC on back, he sounded a little bit nervous! 😂👍
Brilliant again mate I think it’s a really good looking bike sounds great 👍
Good Luck Harley! You absolutely need this kind of reboost and even if a Harley cruiser is not my kind of bike, it would be a real shame if Harley would go down.
Brilliant. Been waiting for this....
I just rode the 2022 PA Special on Thursday, and took delivery of it on Friday. They added the quick shifter for the '22 model year
Love it!! The ultimate pillion test!!! Love the looks of the HD; the price is pretty good for what you get too....It´ll be interesting to see how reliable they are......
I’m taking one for a test ride in a few days. Really looking forward to it. And I like the look. 😀
Great review Bruce, like you I like the looks too - have done since it was first announced. Looking forward to testing one, though it'll have to be truly special to oust my KTM from the garage.
Very interesting bike! Great vid 👍
I rode it on Wednesday and thought it was a great bike, loads of power, smooth, and a small feeling bike when you are on it.. I agree the indicator was a pain and sitting in a queue of traffic for a few minutes showed that the seat would get very hot from the rear cylinder. Also that front brake felt a bit soft, even though I never felt like there wasn't enough stopping power the lever was less positive than my Explorer XCA. Its going to be a contender though.
Now look you’ve made me late for work! Not an adv bike lover but could be converted by this beastie, great review
Thanks for the review. A few things you may have missed. The seat is also a just able. You will get better milage in different modes. I thought the fairing did a great job blocking the wind. Stopped the helmet buffering really well. The price is less than the GS. Being here in America, BMW dealerships are few and far between. Harley Davidson dealers are a lot more plentiful over here. So service is a less worry. Don't get me wrong the GS is a amazing motorcycle. The Pan America has a good skid plate and crash bars are already on the bike. Like you I have a. Hard time with the kick stand, but I think I would get used to it. Also with the Harley tradition the motor will perform some better after it's broke in. Same with the breaks. The front forks have a different feel but again after getting used to the bike it should come to you. Just a few thing I found with the bike and just my thoughts about it. Anyway thanks for sharing your opinion. Till next time. Ride safe and have fun.
Billy...
Chops on the back 😂😂 on hold on to his stomach chops 🤣 awesome review
Good video, gotta love a bit of LCR. A Harley I like 👍.
this bike makes a gen 1 klr look like a paris fashion week model...
If you need to literally force yourself to like something, chances are you are trying to fool yourself 🙂
It is hideous.
Fun fact best PanAm to get if you are tall and you gonna do 50/50 road/off road riding is the non special version with spoke wheels. The manual suspension gives you biggest ground clearance. Ps the big engine guard is also a must (your test bike had it on) because of the rectifier position right behind the front wheel. But all it all I think HD build a grate bike amd for the price it makes alot of sense. Look vise I like it it looks utilitarian like a pickup truck and I'm happy that HD didn't copied everyone else.
For first attempt into the new market I think it sounds like Harley have done alright. Brakes spongyness can be sorted with some decent pads and discs I suppose.
Great review Bruce. 👍
Great stuff as always.
Thanks Kurtis 👍
Another good watch and honest review, I think HD did a god job developing there fist adventure bike and spot on for them being brave enough to do so in a market that is very critical of everything they do 😎👌keep up the good work mr teapot stay safe keep the faith 😎👌🏍🇬🇧🤟
Brilliant review Bruce. Genuinely surprised.... had a feeling it was actually going to be awful 🤣 still not sold on that front end, but still to see one in the flesh. Great stuff bud 👍
Great review and great riding. Such a beautiful area is right! Coming from the USA, your roads scare me. You’re a brave man. Have a great day!
Ha Ha thanks bud 👍
Agree with every word Bruce 👍🏻 definitely grown on me, sounds daft but the top box and can make it easier on the eye ... I'd like a ride on one
Nice little cameo from chops, be interesting to see how stable and capable off road it is
Not my favourite bike, but a great vid and the chopsy and teapot duo is a winner, keep up the good work !
Great to see the chops in the video. Not my cup of tea but you have to respect Harley for trying something different
Great video! I am now looking Pan America and not just the GS 1250 A
Looks good in that colour.
Agree that this and livewire are good bikes for Harley's future.
Too much dosh for me but I wish them luck.
Be good to see it rattle the cages of the market leaders and keep them on their toes.
Happy travels
I have been waiting on this for some time, thank you for getting around to it. I know people are busy. I myself have not ridden one yet! I do like this bike and if they made one for anyone this would be it. I like the orange on, but I am weird that why! Ha!
Thank you for your honest opinion on it's short falls. Still wont to ride one.
“Got no room to get excited” 😂
Great review I actually quite like the look of it now. Still not a patch on my Multistrada Enduro though but impressive.
Ran into one on the twisties here in Switzerland today. It really does look good in the flesh. Damn huge bike, though. The standard version has a really high seat.
Ohhhh yeahhhhhh! Having one of these!!!!
I must admit, I love the hydraulic tappets
Great review
liked the review TP1 and agree that brakes on most HDs do NOT inspire confidence. Gotta give them credit for trying something away from the same old and those bikes and the generation of buyers are slowly all riding off into the sunset.
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
I liked the look of it straight away and I am not a big Harley fan! Cheers Bruce.
A face only it’s mother would love. The bike that is!!!
You two should do more vids together! Great fun. Thanks.
Good to see Chopsie involved. Great video Bruce , but for me personally the GS first and the KTM second. But we’ll done Harley, not bad!
First motobike from HD sens 1970 and the Peter Fonda film.
Mr. TeapotOne- You have filmed a very enjoyable review of this new machine. I hope that this bike can do for the fortunes of HD what the GS models did for BMW Motorrad.
Nice one Bruce.
Had a go on one yesterday. Did not like it at all. Front wheel steering damper to stiff at low speed. Left leg getting hot due to radiator fan blowing freely on the leg. Only feel of some power in the higher revs. Seem to be always running at least around the 5000 rpm to get some response.
Not a big fan of the tft layout either.
I don’t see why this bike gets such raving reviews
It doesn’t
I just think all the GS riders here calling the Pan ugly is hilarious. They are both fugly. Great review TP.
Great vid
Bruce! This is my back yard man. Those roads around the South Downs are beautiful. If you get the chance, get to Goodwood Aerodrome. The cafe is amazing, next to the race track with the runway in the middle. Awesome place to stop and get a brew. Always something going on. Give me a shout if you fancy a guide. 👍🏻
Great review. Won't get me off the GSA though.
Interesting bike! But I think we've seen the birth of a series, TeaChopsOne or LambPotRides 🤔🤔
Teachops 😆
Onechop
Good review Bruce
I'll put the first like in. 😁 It would definitely be on my demo ride list for the next bike.
Good honest review as normal Bruce, cheers mate☺
I work at a HD dealership. I have to say that the plastics on the front fairing and the hand guards feel flimsy compared to the Triumph Tiger. The windshield could be more reinforced as well. I also do not like the ignition placement on the side. It should be up near the other controls for convenience.
Very nice🤙
The motor seems like the highlight of the bike
Well done mr teapot a very good test dont think ive seen a two up test before well if its more reliable than keeps takeing money should sell just for novelty value stay happy
New subscriber here. Great review. Love your energy.
Thanks Chris, welcome to the channel bud 👍
I’m with you that I’m not sold on the headlight. I suppose it makes the bike recognizable from other ADV bikes which is cool
A very enjoyable adventure! I look forward to taking one for a ride. In my opinion it's a handsome enough bike from the right hand side but looks like an untidy jumble of wires and tubes from the left side. A mesh grill would tidy it up and keep mischeivous hands out.
Love this bike, side on it’s a looker and okay the front end is a bit Marmite but again it looks as though it’ll offer good weather protection. V Twin power and it goes like stink, electronics and suspension are all there. If it can handle you and chops it must be pretty good.
The unknown of course is it’s reliability and I know nothing about HD dealers, but a test ride could be on the cards - Great Review Bruce enjoyed it👍
I rode it too. I didn't ride the special though. I am 6'5, 34" inseam, 20 stone. I found the seat to peg distance tight for me and the windscreen way insufficient. I was getting way too much wind at speed. Yes the seat and the windscreen were in the high position. My ride is a 2009 RT and the PA is a bit lighter and in rain mode the PA reminds me of a torquey version of my RT. In sport mode it has the beans though and moves very well. I am an outlier ergonomically and I admit that. I didn't do the test ride through a dealer and I asked about lowering the pegs and the staff said not, only up. In the end, I didn't fall in love with it, didn't look back at it after the ride. About the telelever vs forks, yes. I prefer the telelever. My RT isn't as nimble, but tracks like on rails and no dive unless you have to panic stop real hard. If HD makes a sport tourer with this engine and it has better wind protection, I'll take another look.
Test rode one at Maidstone HD. Very impressive for a first attempt by HD. Did feel buzzy through the pegs at motorway speeds though (around 4000 rpm).
'Good for a first attempt' wouldn't get me handing my money over.
New 2021 models now on sale in Autotrader for circa £11K. Very big discounts to be had. Rewatched this as these represent a saving of £10K-ish on a new GS.
True there are big savings to be had, but I know which bike and manufacturer I’d rather have in my garage 🤷♂️👍
Have to say Bruce yourself and Chops have a similar banter when together to Likeable Rider and Andy Man Cam, great entertainment 😁👍🏻
Lovely job... I found the brakes a little sharper then the BMW and did not really notice the dive. Though I guess we are very different riders, I tend to get the braking done early so would not notice the issues of turning in as you found. But have to agree it's a great looking bike "in the flesh" it's very very close to my 2021 GS.... But lacks the icing on the cake, and indeed Harley missing the quick shifter/auto blipper is a mistake. But one hell of a bike and what a first attempt.... C U Tomorrow.
Like the looks of this bike but im not a Harley Chap. Good vlog Fella
16:55 to 17:00 😂 the bikes not my cup of tea but great review Bruce 👍
🤣🤣21.20 ... simply simply lovely 🤣
Not sure about the looks but I enjoyed your banter with LC.
Let's face it though, all ADV bikes are pretty ugly. It fits right in.
@@TattooedHoodlum only the ones with beaks, which is most of them.
The bike that Homer designed.
Lol had me rolling 🤣
I respect all world languages, but these videos really seriously need to be translated into straight English, pure and simple
A different looking HD
Great video Bruce, nice to see chops too , such a brave man going pillion lol. I still think the bike looks Fugly
Hmm, I think Helga is going to give you the cold spokes after that review! LOL
Great review Bruce! Too bad Harley skipped the quick-shifter, clearly they've never ridden mountain passes :(
Sure sounds good ,Looks good except for the headlight assembly.
Good rider
I recently demo ride this bike. I like the size better than the other full size ADVs. curious how it compares off-road. I found it more compliant at lower rpms than the others. Similar to the GS. Great first go at it.
