She's really good, and piano is a hard instrument to play, I play guitar, but always loved the keyboard but just couldn't do it too damn hard to play, too much hand to eye co-ordination, lol I always respect a good keyboard player.
I bet she cringe every time the key was off. Not her fault though. Really want to see her play this on a well-tuned piano. The energy was perfect. Loved how she felt the music.
She puts emotion into her performance. That is what music is about. It's not the notes or technique that matter, it is how the pianist puts across the emotional message that the composer meant to express.
I'm not one who in my 65 years really gets envious of things. I've had lots of friends buy brand new really really nice cars ... BUT ... I honestly get WEEPY in the eyes wishing I could play like this. I AM FLAT OUT ENVIOUS ... JEALOUS ... over people who can play and command an audience like this. That and people who can draw/paint. My brother is the musician. After learning piano and clarinet, he picked up a guitar and within 30 minutes taught himself the theme to the Wonder Years.

A lot of people don't realize that the piano is out of tune for a reason. Chances are the piano is old and not tune often. Besides that, just like a guitar, the temperature of the environment that the piano is in will play a huge role on whether or not it is in tune (think about what the strings are made of, a kind of metal). Metals expand and contract quite a bit depending on the temperature. The piano strings' length will change, probably a lot, as the temperature of the environment fluctuates quite a bit. This might lead some strings to stay lengthened or shortened over time, or just lose their position on the soundboard entirely. Most pianos actually use a combination of strings in different octaves/harmonics to create ONE note. If one of these strings for one note is off key, you bet you'll hear something isn't right about the note. Besides all that shenanigans, I think detuned pianos have a very nostalgic sound to them!
Why did this move me to tears? Yes I heard the mistakes and it was her continuing with the same intensity without skipping a beat that I think was so moving...such a great example for how to tackle life ...with passion, enthusiasm, energy, courage, forgiveness, perseverance....laudable, applaudable imperfect human expression in pursuit of self expression and beauty... the heroine's journey across a black and white landscape, navigating the sharps and flats, indefatigable until its over..
Public pianos are a good 1st step to defeating corporate garbage can "music" they are trying to force on us all. People need to be exposed to real music more! Love this!

There are many pianos all over the city of Montreal! (Only in the summer) It is such a pleasure to sit down and hear different people play. I've been lucky to hear a few. She did a wonderful job!
I really don't understand why people have to be negative. So the piano was out of tune. So maybe she missed the odd note. But you don,t have to watch it. Ariane deserves enormous credit for a magical performance, for putting herself out there, for giving the people there something to remember and for sharing her talent with the rest of us. Ariane, may you continue to share your talent with us.
And playing on a piano where some of the notes are that out of tune can really throw you. Makes your subconscious think your hand's in the wrong place so it makes minor adjustments that it shouldn't.

She knows how to play, you can tell that. You have to be damned good to play like that, with the kind of finger work and chord progressions she's using. But my God, that piano belongs in a dumpster. She's waaaay too good for that out-of-tune hulk...

what a beautiful performance. what people don't realise when making stupid comments is that this is a public piano, which means it's going to be harder to play, keys will stick, a lighter or heavier touch may be needed on some keys than others, the pressure of playing in front of many many "piano experts" and also playing such an iconic piece. she did amazing, and I hope she continues to play for life. what a talent! :D

It's honestly not that difficult. I'm 16 and can play this. Look up All of me by the piano guys (Jon Schmidt). And Jarrod Radnich's version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I can play all of me and I'm working on his version of Bohemian Rhapsody. That being said, I love this song and I think she did an okay job. She was expressing herself and did it beautifully (no pun intended) but as of to the technical difficulty, it's not incredibly difficult.

Note to the critics of piano tuning: place yourself in the weathered elements of the donated instrument, let us see how well you will preform in a parallel environment, that piano may not meet your expectations, but at least it was an integral element purveying joy of that spontaneous few minutes.

It's decent, but way too many flaws - she plays way too fast at some points, especially the operetta part (try singing along, you'll run out of breath). She also hits a lot of wrong notes.
Crazy I went on holiday to Canada halfway around the world in 2012 and seen this exact piano there in Montreal and thought I wish I knew how to play bohemian rhapsody. Googled bohemian rhapsody piano when I got back home and seen this video.

She was actually quite an accomplished pianist in her local scene, playing everything from blues and jazz to classical music in concert. Although there doesn't seem to be anything that's current on the web.

what a beautiful performance. what people don't realise when making stupid comments is that this is a public piano, which means it's going to be harder to play, keys will stick, a lighter or heavier touch may be needed on some keys than others, the pressure of playing in front of many many "piano experts" and also playing such an iconic piece. she did amazing, and I hope she continues to play for life. what a talent! :D

It's honestly not that difficult. I'm 16 and can play this. Look up All of me by the piano guys (Jon Schmidt). And Jarrod Radnich's version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I can play all of me and I'm working on his version of Bohemian Rhapsody. That being said, I love this song and I think she did an okay job. She was expressing herself and did it beautifully (no pun intended) but as of to the technical difficulty, it's not incredibly difficult.

It's impossible to tune a piano and keep it in tune when the sun is on it. Changing temperatures effect the strings.

It's decent, but way too many flaws - she plays way too fast at some points, especially the operetta part (try singing along, you'll run out of breath). She also hits a lot of wrong notes.

She was actually quite an accomplished pianist in her local scene, playing everything from blues and jazz to classical music in concert. Although there doesn't seem to be anything that's current on the web.
