    Thanks for doing the review!!! Your results are pretty much what I've seen with other reviews. I really haven't found a more efficient method than good ole hand peeling!! Like you, I boil my quail eggs for 5 minutes. After draining them, I put them into ice water for about 15 minutes, then drain again and place in refrigerator over night. The next day I take a large container (2 quart) with a lid, fill it about 1/3 with water, put about 12-16 eggs at a time in it and shake the crap out of it. That crunches the shell pretty good, and makes it really to easy to peel. After that, I simply peel eggs until they're all done!! I may have 1 or 2 eggs out of 120 each time that I set aside due to part of the white sticking to the shell. My method sounds quite time consuming, but in reality, it goes quite fast and I love the results.........along with everyone else that gets to enjoy our hard boiled eggs, pickled eggs, and deviled eggs!! :) Thanks again!!!

    I’ve been using this machine for about four months now and have peeled maybe 1000 eggs. There is a learning curve. First you are not cracking your eggs well. I put about 25 or 30 at a time in a stainless steel bowl, add a couple of cups of cold water, invert another bowl of it that fits fairly watertight and shake vigorously. When done correctly you’ll have all sorts of small pieces of eggshell in the bottom of the bowl. I also like to have had the eggs cooled in ice water so they are as cold as possible. I have a wire drainer that fits down on on side of my double sink. I turn it upside down in the left side of the sink.I can then set the peeler with the motor side resting on the left side of the sink, letting the side with the rollers run slightly downhill as it rests on the top of the drainer. I can then position my faucet so it runs down on the rollers on the uphill side. Honestly, I can do 125-150 eggs in fifteen minutes or so with only four or five “chunked up”. Please, give this machine another try realizing that most of the problems I have seen with it are “operator error”. I can send some pics or video of my set up if you like. Again, in all fairness to the machine please give it another try.

      If you have a chance I'd love to see a video of your set up. I understand most of how you described it, but I'm a little confused by what you mean with the slopes. That's an impressive number of eggs to do in 15 minutes and I'll be working with a few hundred birds next year, so I'm very interested.

    It did exactly what I thought it would do. Heck, by the time you babysat the eggs in the turner, I could have had them peeled, and would have lost a heck of a lot less that 50 %. Worst I usually lose when hand peeling is about 10%. Great honest review, Terry.

    I love your videos. I have been using a hand crank model for years and it works almost perfect. The key is preparing the eggs before peeling. Gentle constant stirring while boiling for 5 minutes with a little white vinegar added to the water. ( the stirring helps keep the yoke centered and the vinegar makes the shell and the membrane under it rubbery). Cool in cold water. Place eggs in quart jar, fill about half way with eggs then barely cover with water. ( I add a little white vinegar here also ) Place lid on jar and shake well for a few seconds to completely crack shells. Keep eggs in water and wet during whole process. then place on peeler with constant running water Just saying this method works well for me

    I've never boiled my eggs, BUT when I cook chicken eggs I follow these steps....
    1. Hard boil them.
    2. Drain hot water, cover pot with lid, shake the pot very vigorously. Remove lid add 10 or so ice cubes and run very cold water over over eggs. Shells come right off. NO PEELING.
    Good luck.

    I purchased the manual one and had the same results. I was told to ice the eggs along with breaking the shells but still had a very high incident of the egg getting pinched or chunked. I am hand peeling still. Too many damaged eggs with the peeler. Sad was hoping it would work better. Thanks so much for the review. Glad to hear it wasn't just me.

  • @amyhouston5817

    My crank operated one does the same thing. I've decided to just use it when I'm making egg salad. I rinse off the smallest sticking egg shell fragments & just smash them with a fork anyways. At least it's faster than hand peeling if you're dealing with high quantities & you're not worried about presentation.

    I don’t know if it’s been said, but I sat mine across the top of the sink on a board,with the motor end slightly elevated. Water runs onto rollers and you can put a catch bowl in the other side of sink. Put a small colander under rollers to catch shells.

    After boiling the eggs I take them out with a large slotted spoon and place them directly in a large bowl of ice water. I then shake them in a jar and place them in the peeler with a small flow of water. It worked great for the 20 dozen eggs I peeled yesterday. The only issue was with yolks which were thinly covered by the egg white.

    • @jluckado
      @jluckado 3 роки тому +2
