The fact that they stopped arguing to introduce the episode and jumped straight back into it after the introduction was hilarious
That honestly made me so frustrated. Didn't get to the episode for 20 minutes lol no biggy
@@tcfilms8062 This might not be a great podcast for you tbh this is the format really
what do ya know a philly guy (Rob) dosnt know when to shut up and stop running his mouth!
The "IM NOT ALLOWED!" and the "Cat in the wall, eh? Now you're talkin my language" are two of the best delivered lines in the series.
*aacckk-ow!* “Ooooohh! Botched toe! I botched that one, ooh that’s a botched job”
Totally agree. It’s also great representations of both characters and their tones.
I love that Charlie says he’s having a Charlie Tummy Day and that’s something that’s been established in their friendship and everyone knows what he’s talking about haha
Why? Because Glenn repeats it? Seems like he just found it funny and repeated it in mock-serious way
i want to applaud charlie for being so brave about his tummy hurting and also stomaching this disagreement with the rest of us
Anyone who had to “stomach” this, should probably not go out in public lmao. How do any of you guys deal with anything? It’s so weird how likely people are to let others just walk all over them without standing up for themselves🤣
@@chaka1045 Rob was just pointing out something about Glenn's personality he found funny and Glenn got defensive. Pretty simple. Actually weird to get defensive about it.
Glenn’s verbal backspace when he used the word "implication" is crazy funny.
And then he got real close to the game show episode when he dropped a "I feel like I'm being misrepresented" lol
hold on... the whole convo was funny. its how they get to a settlement. charlie is like the mediator between glen and rob LOL that was great i could totally see this happening in the writers room when they had a go at it back a few months ago. good to see.
Rob's idea to have a debate about the best Sunny episode would be a FANTASTIC pod
I kept expecting one of the others to say "Uhhhh you realize we have to do that now, right???"
And then another on the worst.
And then one on the best of the worst (worst in this case being the gang/ content being the worst / darkest)
@@space_orphanthey're moving so fast in that section, the camera set-up and production heavy style allows the crew to edit just hyper fast, Charlie slowing things down a tad does allow the pace to slow a little, but they're just still so in tune with each other's brains. It's so impressive still lol
That whole conversation about conflict not being inherently bad was so helpful for me lmao didn’t think I’d get therapy from this
Watching Glenn become Dennis is amazing, everything changes, his head movements, his mannerisms, his voice, so damn cool.
Glenn’s read of “I’m not allowed Dee, I’m not allowed” may be my favorite read of a line in any show
"Cats do not abide by the laws of nature." One of my favorite lines ever.
The still from that scene with that subtitle is the picture for my family groupchat
“Probably just flattened itself out and slipped right through a seam in your wall”
I love how Glenn gives Mara some support when she jokingly expressed that she was nervous, only to then wrap it back straight into their disagreement from the previous podcast, after Mara had just tried to get them on track lol

If anyone hasn't already seen the "extended scene" with the Predator handshake, it's up on youtube and absolutely hilarious, so you should watch it. It's from the S5 DVD.
There's also a great deleted scene from earlier in the episode where Mac and Dennis tell Charlie that they're breaking up, that it's Charlie's fault and that Mac will be moving in with Charlie (so move past it). The S5 bloopers have outtakes from this scene.
I love the deleted scene from this episode. It’s so funny and also part of the bloopers I think. (Which you said in your comment. Pardon my lousy reading).
Them calling this ep ROMANTIC comedy is all I needed to hear from this podcast. God bless.
It's like watching a couple breaking up in a McDonald's
@@squidwardtortellini7332 - Uncle Donald McDonald from Hamburg haha (new season) 🤙
Charlie being a Macdennis shipper is great lol. A slowburn romcom for the ages!
this episode has my favorite conversation in it where Charlie is like "Cat in the wall eh? I bet it flattened itself out and slipped through a seam in the wall" Dee: "there's nothing in the laws of nature to support that." Charlie: "Cats do not abide by the laws of nature." the most truthful thing ever spoken
Yes they do abide by the laws of physics and nature...Cats are still composed of atoms and cannot literally transport across the universe whenever they feel like it...I've starved a cat and it didn't spring back to life after dying. They require things. They abide by things. Cats aren't following their own laws of physics despite that you think its so hilarious that they do...🤡
@@jsmithers. not sure where u get your info, buddy, but everything you just said is wrong & dumb. cats are 6th dimensional beings that flout the fundamental physical laws of existence as we know it whenever they please
Mac asking Frank about the video store clerk and him saying 'total jerk-off' and Mac sighing with relief is the funniest part in the ep for me
glenn is the only one who can brag about eating pizza and chicken wings and everyone would be like "good for you"
“Don’t yuck my yum but yours was no yum because you weren’t eating food” 😂
@@EshenBaumthat was a really profound moment for me.
Wish more of my co-workers had a little of this mindset
I love the little dance that Dennis and Charlie do in this episode. "Charlie's in the house! Hey! Heyyyy! You want a skinless apple, bud?"
Rob romantically rolling his eyes at Glenn is all I needed.
I definitely miss bossy Mac, generating closeted power from the bottom
I still think mac should have been made Bi, straight mac had a lot of funny jokes
Dennis was always the power bottom, he says so multiple times! But yeah bossy Mac ftw. He's back in s15 and 16!
What an episode… Mara is excellent. Glen is fired up. Charlie is Charlie. And Rob is autistic? 10/10
Dunno about rob. If this is how he handles all the people he talks to, maybe. He definitely lacks understanding social cues. But maybe he's only like this with these guys because it works for them.
@@crankfastle8138 there was definately tension but i think glenn , as he has admitted in the past, misses social cues and definitely misinterpreted robs jokes. But it was still funny and just not that deep

I would love to see an extended episode where the guys and Meg all passionately plead their case for their favorite episode. I’d watch hours of that actually. So go ahead and do that now please.
The way you guys spoke about one another's feelings and the level of respect, even while joking around, is incredibly admirable. Solid friends who can hold a mirror up to one another and articulate why it isn't accusatory are absolute treasures. I loved watching that part of the episode.
Of course Charlie is just the impartial mediator when Dennis and Mac have their marital spats
The fact you guys can talk things out like this is why you have had your show on the air this many years, master class in friendship
"we took both these characters in this direction for the rest of the show" macdennis canon
This episode is one of the best. When Charlie tells Frank that Dennis swallowed some apple seeds,
Frank responds with just a look of sheer terror. A perfect punchline
also Mac telling Dennis to smoke some cigarettes after swallowing the apple seeds because "the smoke suffocates the bacteria in your stomach" is gold
People probably comment this on every video… but I just want Kaitlin to be part of this more often
Please please please do a podcast where you argue and battle which episode is the best!!!! great idea
14:30 rob saying "how do you grow? how do you learn?" in response to people avoiding conflict is unironically eye-opening. as a conflict-avoidant person myself, that perspective is super refreshing to hear
Definitely worth confronting the problems and disagreements in your life head-on. Better to spend half an hour arguing and then have a weight off your shoulders for the rest of your life, than to just carry that weight around with you everywhere you go for the sake of comfort. People who never give anyone a chance to disagree with them never learn when they're wrong. And nobody is always right.
@@IllusionistBeatsOfficialidk it’s like Glenn says, some of us were raised in an environment where arguing and self-advocating just made things worse and it’s hard to reframe arguing as a form of problem solving after that
I hear them talking about this and I think “Jesus these guys really think their listeners are stupid if they think we don’t understand that resolving conflict is an integral part of having a happy and fulfilling life”, but then I see comments like these and I guess it’s worth it. I just feel bad you’re getting your life lessons from these clowns (whom I love) lol
@@redgreen2453 I was raised in a highly dangerous, abusive household, where if I so much as spoke out of turn I would be physically assaulted by a grown man. I've still never been one to back down from my principles and avoid a discussion. I'd argue I'm actually too far the opposite for my own good sometimes. I have a lot of sympathy for people who grew up in similar situations, but I don't see it as a valid excuse for grown adults to stay in a state of arrested development. Conflicts can be difficult, as my PTSD ensures, but I still only feel like I've "levelled up" in maturity when I've face the thing I was avoiding and dealt with it maturely. I'm 22 and constantly find myself blown away by middle aged and elderly people who are at a stage of development I recognise from my childhood years, simply because their fragile ego won't allow for them to risk the humiliation or sense of threat or discomfort a disagreement can cause. Circumstances can 100% make conflict difficult to approach, but any excuse is still just that: an excuse. Avoidance and stagnation are essentially two sides of the same coin.
I love that they immediately picked up from last week's convo.
Because so far collectively it’s been a 30 min convo about diet and I already hate talking about peoples diets for more than 5 min.
@@johnwerner69 It's already an overload of self-righteousness from them every-time they speak, but that usually gets watered down by them actually discussing sunny and doing bits. When it's just them discussing their day, it's 100% unbridled divas who are full of themselves.
I am floored by how much vicarious discomfort I felt for the first 20 minutes or so
"An inability for self reflection" is a perfect description of the entire show as a whole tbh.
I immediately knew that this episode of the pod was a classic. The fact that they're covering Mac and Dennis Break Up is poetic.
I enjoyed the scene reading a lot. Rob really became a stronger actor with each passing season and it was cool to see him now as opposed to then doing the scene from when he was less honed. Not that he wasn’t good then, he’s just even better now. His delivery has gotten SOOOOO GOOD.
I jumped ahead like 7 times and still heard the words "master cleanse" each time
I like how the previous conflict was perfectly lined up with this episode, allowing Mac and Dennis to "get back together" in the audience's eyes, just like in the show!
These episodes where we get to hear and watch them talking about life and their relationships with each other and what they've learned and how they apply themselves to the people in their lives is fascinating to me.
110% here for more episodes of the guys talking freely about life and conflict and who they are etc!!!
The way Charlie always starts stuff by saying “Now why….”. Lol makes me laugh every time.
I like that Glenn & Rob trust each other enough to be straight to their face. I would much rather have conflict & sort out an issue with a close friend than have someone hold it in or say it behind my back. Love that Charlie is the peace maker ❤
“In body mass alone” 😂😂😂😂😂 the fact mac is fixated on the movie with mens bodies and thy need to keep watching it still gets me
I like how Mara tries to segue back into discussing the episode but they totally ignore it and go back to arguing lol
@@TheRealMarcgi bad how? She asks solid questions and helps push the conversation forward
I absolutely love when they actually go through their opinions and discussions. it is really refreshing to see adults who are comfortable with who they are and feel confident in their friendship and can talk ab these things and resolve them. Rob's 19:20 idea for a episode was so good!! I hope they do discuss their favorite episodes, it would be amazing!
Love that Charlie is the peacemaker of the trio lol
Rob, Glen and Charlie are putting on a communication and relationship seminar. These guys are giving it away for free!
They are literally saving face like half this episode because of the stupid ass shit they talked about last episode. Well glen and Rob’s anyways, Charlie stayed clear of their bills hit antics.
the puke sounds dennis did after eating the seeds in this episode is the best thing I ever heard
These guys are great friends cause a lot of ppl couldn’t have a conversation like this productively
These three men communicate and empathize better than anyone I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder they seem so happy in their family life and personal life outside of work. It’s amazing
I agree. You can see the admiration they have for each other too. They obviously have such a great relationship between the 3 considering they have been working on the same show for almost 20 years and it’s rare in that business something like that last this long.
It’s so great to see three friends understand each other so well. Love seeing them push each others buttons.
Their chat about the last talk and conflict, holy shit that was fascinating and healing. Five star men. Mara... "this is riveting."
People keep saying Charlie is the glue but man lemme tell ya.. That cool chick from the other podcasts leaves for like 1 episode and all hell breaks lose.
Macs cadence in this scene is comedic genius. Still makes me laugh out loud.
I love how they subtly say lines from the show in the pod, such as
“And then it just kind of ‘ends’”
And Glenn saying “then the internet ruined everything” the same tone as Frank says “then AIDS ruined everything”
Nice touches for the fans
I don't think it's on purpose. They often wrote those lines or improvised them. Sometimes the might be aware of it, but I'm sure they often say things that they forget are quotes from the show.
Why am I sobbing over these long time friends smiling and talking about movies and jokes that didn't make it in and idk. Its magic. They still have it. They still respect each other. They are still IN it. They still got the jokes. Their hearts are all in it. Still. This literally brought a tear to my eye watching this podcast for the 397th time. Thats why we love it. Doesn't matter if you talk about Anne Wilson or the episode. We just like the inside baseball of it all and watching friends hang. We feel like we've always been a part of the gang.
This has been the one I've been waiting for. Mac and Dennis Break Up is one of my favourite episodes, it's such a perfect distillation of what the show is with the classic dynamics. This is the episode I recommend to people if they've never seen the show before.
megan not being here for this specific episode, we lost 😭😭
Shoutout to Mara for boldly stepping up to fill Megs shoes. Tough role to take, but she did well despite the gangs best efforts 😂
Love everything about this podcast.
Can't speak on behalf of the rest of the fans, but I tune in for the gang. Same with watching Always Sunny. Getting to hang out with you guys doing your thing is all that matters, you don't need too much structure.
This episode is another reason why season 5 is the best in the series. There are so many iconic moments; Frank’s toe knife, Charlie’s explanation of cat physics, Dennis’ outburst about the apple-as Glenn said, it’s all laughs from start to finish.
"Mac and Dennis Break Up" Is definitely in my top 5 episodes of all time, i'm glad the guys agree that its an absolute banger. "Peel this apple for me" might be my favorite comedic moment in the whole series.
I loved last weeks episode, felt natural. like hangin out with the gang
It was more so they subject matter than how they handled themselves I’m calling it now - they’re going to find themselves in a controversy regarding pseudoscientific nonsense.
The mad smoothie thing, Glenn was sucking off is genuinely bad for your health. Even with their sponsors, Better Help is predatory.
I know they’re expected to sponsor shit but they do it in such a “snake oily” type of way
Then I think they should probably make a separate episode about that, not piggyback on the podcast about the actual show's episode. But whatever I'm just a savage and an idiot
Im totally on Mac's side here...
You can see the rage boiling up inside dennis... I mean Glenn.
Honestly, I just like hearing the guys banter and talk for hours. They can talk about the episode or anything for that matter.
I love their real conversations. It’s both funny and thought provoking.
The way these three communicate with each other is just brilliant, i think a lot of men and people in general could learn a lot from them.
I love this podcast so much, it’s genuinely the only one where they can change something every week and I’m on board with it. Usually I’m so adverse to change but with these guys, I trust it. I trust they can make an amazing podcast regardless of anything that happens to it. Love you guys, stay hot.
Last weeks podcast may not have been a successful conversation but it was hella entertaining
With all due respect, you only need the three of them shooting breeze to make a good podcast
@@kylemartin7871 "we" are not doing anything. One person used the word. You are not obligated to. Fight me. (I like conflict too)
This is awesome. I hope I can find the kind of friendships they have because the communication between them is really beautiful
I don't think Meg/Mara are necessarily to keep the guys talking about the episode, but it helps a lot to balance out three big personalities
The beginning of this was lovely where the guys respectfully clarified each others’ perspectives and intentions with some of their discussion from the last episode. This should be watched by all friend groups and couples. 😀🙌🏼
The line up with “Mac and Dennis Break Up” and the beginning of this is incredible 😂
It’s hilarious that Rob is more pragmatic about health, diet, and science, and Glenn is more holistic crunchy pseudoscience-prone considering that their characters are the EXACT opposite.
Wow, Robs way of looking at conflict is great!
I think people avoid conflict not just because it's uncomfortable but because it can be exhausting. Even if you are as good at conflict resolution as these guys just hearing the constant debates sounds exhausting; I imagine that's why they enjoy filming so much more than writing.
i feel like it’s really rare to get to see people organically work through conflict like this in such a healthy way… sharing convos like this with people is so generous & offers such a lovely model of what productive and friendly conflict can look like!! great pod
I think it’s not uncomfortable for you guys bc you’re friends. While a listener might *feel* like they know you parasocially, they don’t actually know where your limits are. Basically the viewer doesn’t know if they’re witnessing a real fight or not lol.
Exactly. This episode and the previous didn't feel as fun as any other episodes.
What? i know it wasnt a real fight it was pretty easy to see that it was just banter 😂
I dont feel like i know these people, theyre just actors i admire on a show i love.
@@dumb525 the man shouted "he's fucking gaslighting me!!"

I like that this continued almost exactly from a week ago like no time had passed.
One of my favorite lines is in this episode. "This little lady is a calico cat. All calico cats are female." I thought it was one of Charlie's crazy Charlieisms that couldn't possibly be true. Then I come to find out thats for the most part, true.
THE NEW SEASON IS SO FUNNY!!!! I think the podcast has inspired them for this season
I appreciate this. I finally get Robs perspective, and it’s beautiful. Back on the aftershow I thought he was genuinely pissed, but now I get he has a different relationship with conflict than most people and it really is a positive thing if people are able to hash things out and be honest.
Definitely a top tier episode of the Pod because of the raw emotions. KEEP IT UP GUYS, you guys are the best
This was the very first episode of sunny I ever watched and I still maintain it’s the best one. I’ve been waiting for this podcast forever
I was in a dark head space this morning, thank you guys so much for pulling me out of it. You guys are the brothers I miss. I grew up wth 2 brothers, man today's pod hit me, in a good way. Rob and Glenn getting into it really felt like home. Charlie trying to be the voice of reason, again comforting. Thanks for these, even when you get off track, WE LOVE IT! ❤️
As a huge pushover I really respect Rob for being so casual and even positive about conflict. I'm more like Frank plugging up my issues with greasy chicken wing paper
I’m like Frank,,, just use a gun for ALL conflicts,,,,, even opening tuna cans haha
one of my fav episodes, that first apartment scene with Mac and Dennis is legendary
Glenn’s smirk that Charlie was talking about was soooooo funny
I find the nuances of their social dynamic extremely interesting. I love when these guys get off topic.
14:18 onwards, Rob and Glenn getting to the heart of autistic interactions. Very relatable
As someone attempting to address possible ND, do you mean Rob's ability to naviagte conflict and passing that to Glenn, or Glenn learning how to navigate from Rob?
Or maybe something else intiretly?
@@CH1K3N99As someone who is also trying to address possible ND, I took it as Rob was the one who wanted to have the upfront conversation and sort out the problems, because problems need solutions. Y’all really do have such a healthy view on conflict. I’d say Rob is one of the most emotionally intelligent people on the planet. Constantly learning from him!
I'm so glad they did the Video store clerk guy reread from the episode, I laughed at the exact sametime Glenn and Charlie did at Rob's line delivery 😂 Gold
Man at the end when these guys are acting out the scene. They got something there, I think these guys have a future in acting honestly.
