    I loved hearing them discuss the writing process and address the liveshows "confrontation" for all the idiots who have never had a serious discussion with a close friend, but I can't lie, I was a little disappointed that there was so little discussion about the episode this time :(
    Season 5 is one of the best of the whole series, if not the best, and the Mortgage Crisis episode is so funny that I'd been looking forward to this episode for over the past 4 weeks. Then Rob kept steering the conversation away just because he doesn't like it. He's dead wrong and I think it hurt the podcast today.

      @@Littledidtheyknow I'd say it's worth a listen because there's some good stuff about the writing process for S16, the people they've worked with, some surprising fans and the December live show, so it's not completely disconnected from Sunny. Personally, I wanna cut them some slack because they've clearly just come from working very hard on S16 and there's not much time left for them to finish up all the writing (and if it's a tradeoff between S16 of the show and 4-6 episodes of the podcast, I pick the show). They must be very stressed out when they recorded this. But yes, it's still rather disappointing when this episode is such a classic to all of us fans :(
      I would have appreciated if Rob could at least explain more fully why he doesn't think this episode holds up instead of just being a downer. I don't think it's an LA thing, just his very "direct" personality, to put it politely. I guess at least Glenn loved the episode.

    • @wittkrieg
      @wittkrieg Рік тому +9

      Bird law actually has an interesting significance. Protecting various threatened species was outside of the power of congress and most state's legislatures. However, the president was empowered to enter into treaties, so long as ratified by the senate, and that would become attached to the constitution as the law of the land regardless.
      The Endangered Species Act was the first main time treaty law was used to apply laws within the US that would otherwise be unconstitutional or simply not politically possible.
      Another example, as has been testified before congress, the US fed gov cannot legalize cannabis because of a treaty. It can only be decriminalized and ignored. But congress and the US gov has no legal ability to legalize cannabis anymore because of a treaty.
      Birdlaw precedent actually has incredible significance.

    • @wittkrieg
      @wittkrieg Рік тому +5

      I will also say, I support the Bricker amendment which would make it unconstitutional to make unconstitutional acts legal even if done via treaty. However, at this moment, the president and a majority of the senate can, under the constitution, absolutely violate the constitution in every other way. And they have and continue to use this method with zero public awareness.
      And this all happened because of birdlaw. If only more people understood birdlaw the world might be better.
