If I just need to tighten the three screws that connect the head of the mixer to the stand, obviously needing to remove the motor and control board to access them, would you recommend disconnecting the motor from the transmission, or removing the planetary and taking off the whole drive train?

    Dear friend, thank you for the videos and the instructions. I'm writing from Greece. I have recently purchased the same silver lift bowl mixer. The noise when working was not even and i have opened only the front small door for the planetary movements. The grease on the gears was like glue. It was dryed and from white it was yellow. From the front cover through the holes i could see the multiple gears. I did'n touch that assembly, but i used a grease lithium sprey to grease them. The same thing with the big front gears and planetary system. On the motor writes made in Vietnam and to the external band made in the USA. Not fair. Maybe the Law gives the company the right to do so, but for me it is unfair. Thank you once more for the detailed videos. I couldn't fix it without your help.

    Ive got a "clicking" when running if i grab the implement shaft- with the planetary removed the sound is gone. Theres white grease on the planetary gear, but it looks dry. How much grease should go in this area? It didn't look like you applied any, but the focus of this video was the motor replacement. I've been told the planetary is not greased the same as the transmission

    I have to replace the AC motor in my 5 quart bowl lift KitchenAid mixer. Do you know if I can replace it with the DC pro line motor? They definitely aren't interchangeable, it is possible potentially if you get a new lower housing which I proably have. It would be pretty pricey though, you would need a new motor/cord/hardware/speed board/internal ring gear/planetary it would be nearly as expensive as just buying a DC unit! On that note, we have 7qt proline available on our website Mrmixer.store

      @@MrMixer316 Thank you for the reply! Here’s the whole story (I’ll try to keep it short). My KA mixer is the copper pearl, and I bought it from Sams or Costco about 6 years ago, and at the time, I thought it was the same as the custom copper metallic, but at a much better price (I think I paid $400, while the custom copper metallic on the KA website was around $800+ I think). I didn’t realize at the time that they were truly two different mixers. Mine the cheaper with AC motor, and the other with the HD DC motor. Had I realized this at the time, I would have bought the other one.. Since realizing the one I have, I’ve been trying to find the custom metallic copper with DC motor, (William Sonoma had one for a while, but not in the last few years), and I cannot find one anywhere, and no info on the KA website as to when they will be back in stock.. And I guess I should back up and say, I don’t ‘need’ to change the motor in mine, it still works fine, it just struggles (gets hot and has a burning plastic smell) when doing large bread/cookie/dumpling batches, and I would like to upgrade to the DC motor if possible. I’m assuming that if I have to swap out the lower housing with the custom metallic copper one, it wouldn’t be a perfect match and may be incredibly hard to find.. so, sounds like this really wouldn’t work well for me. Any suggestions? Do you by chance have the custom copper metallic one in your stock for sale??

    Fantastic video! Now time for super tech question. We have had one of these for many years. When using the pasta roller attachment, we would get slipping somewhere in the gears/transmission. The machine was well used, so I just decided to replace the whole motor unit (bought from a local appliance parts store, sorry). It worked great right away, and was much quieter. However, maybe the fourth time making pasta, my wife is reporting the same kind of motor slipping.
    I called Kitchen-Aid hoping they could tell me what part is most likely to fail. Maybe there's some kind of clutch designed to slip when the torque goes over a certain load. However, their response is to send the unit in to them for diagnosis.
    So now I turn to you. Do you have any suggestions for what might be causing this specific pasta roller slipping? I'm a technical and mechanical guy, so I have no problem getting in there and replacing specific gears. I also have the old motor as well, but I never bothered to take it apart to expose the gears and transmission. Thanks in advance!

    • @MrMixer316
      @MrMixer316 Рік тому

      Honestly there should never be slippage in the gears, if there is, it's either a complete loss of torque which could be related to the phase board or the field assembly or it could also be related to the pasta roller itself.

    • @bunnyadrian
      @bunnyadrian Рік тому +1

      @@MrMixer316 After taking a look inside the "non-serviceable" pasta roller, I think it might be that piece. The gear in there are very narrow, and inserting pasta dough forces the rollers apart, minimizing gear purchase.

      Thanks!

    Can you help? I bought a used KitchenAid pro 600 design with 575 watt with 6 quart glass bowl, lift style. The mixer and bowl are in mint condition. The bowl two side handles don't line up with pins. Off by about 1/4". Is there an adjustment somewhere? Is this the wrong bowl?

      Quite sure it is the wrong bowl.

    Almost exactly my model, yay! So needed b3cause I wasn't sure about that first clip in the back. Wife used a meat grinder attachment to grind tilapia.... so now it smells like fish 😢

    May be the toughest build home mixer ever! Not that it can't be made better, but eons above all the rest! Thanks for the detailed videos mate! You remind me a little bit of AvE😊
    But surely, no warries for the manufacturer to disassemble and show to us the internals, when build so tough, nothing to be conserned for! I went in love with the 8th series!

    • @MrMixer316
      @MrMixer316 6 місяців тому

      Based off of your model number your machine will be the 500 watt AC motor! The motor and transmission is built very similar however just in AC power. Are you having issues?

      @@MrMixer316 I havnt used it yet i only received it 2 Days ago. It was a gift to my mum, she wanted one all her life. I done research and found out the 7qt is the better one because it has the better motor. Im disappointed to learn it has an AC motor and only one year warranty. I wish now i bought an older pro line series but time will tell if the new motor is any good

      Used it today its noisy. I truly believe Kitchenaid deliberately confuse with their different model numbers etc so they sell more units. I thought i was getting a 5 year warranty no i know its only one year. Im angry that i bought this unit. I bought the biggest most expensive one i could find and i still ended up with a cheap model.

      On many Proline 7 quart mixers, including mine, you can hear a click coming from the front when the mixer is running, usually 1 or 2 clicks every time the beater goes around the bowl. (It's not the beater hitting the bowl.) KitchenAid says the click is "normal," but it's annoying. Do you know what could be causing it and how to fix it or at least quieten it somewhat? Thanks in advance.

  • @lanzer22

    Since you know the sun gear, why not just call the gearbox using its name "planetary gearbox"? The trident is the planet gear shaft, and the sleeve also has gear and is called the ring gear, all pretty intuitive names.
