I mean, they got a product ready to go and I'm sure someone is willing to pay for this level of customizability. Even if it doesn't work out it would still pioneer an entire new line of keyboards.
1:32 says explicitly "maglev key switches." I can only speculate that the "tactile keys for typing" and "linear keys for gaming" are different strengths of magnets. While it's an interesting development, 1:35 shows some keys already unaligned with nearby keys. Did you watch the video?
This keyboard is incredible! Been in the keyboard hobby for years and left it because I felt like all keyboards were starting to look the same but im glad to see something actually different and that looks so futuristic, completely different from everything ive ever seen. I cant wait for it to release and try it out
This actually looks incredible. If you're learning another language, having your keyboard just magic itself into an entirely different alphabet is amazing.
A clear silicone overlay for a cheap tablet should cost a few dollars to make. If made well enough it would be usable but not very good compared to this. A lot simpler and cheaper though.. I experimented with a few matches stuck together to make a 3x3 staggered grid, cut out squares of clear plastic and thin strips cut out of balloons, I got it quite usable as a concept but the feel was not even as good as the roll-up silicone keyed keyboards. It needed some kind of click other than the key hitting the screen and the quite taught rubber was not going to stay tight for long. Fun though, The travel and spring back was good. I shelved it and it got broken. -- What's needed to make it strong and cheap is opaque key frames that hide (probably shared) springs/silicon pads. I'd be happy with 3mm key gaps and 2mm opaque border around each key as long as up to 4 symbols can be clearly seen.

I think a numpad-only version of this with the dial and other modules would have been a nice middle-ground without the crazy price tag, hopefully they eventually get there
in reality its not that crazy of a price. my pc mouse was $150 my keyboard now was $125-130 - people spend hundreds on building keyboards. This, this right here is a game changer, this is the future of all computers. This is fucking star trek shit man. lolol
@@iDennis95 since when did a streamdeck have interchangable modules like a dial? also streamdeck only works on windows, where this would work on anything since the internal firmware handles the translation to keyboard.
It says you can plug a numpad directly into it, and the fact you can change to a number of different layers etc....If imagine you could easily switch to a layer that shows a full numpad If it's really that big of a deal. Otherwise for $25 you can get a nice mechanical wired or wireless numpad to plug in to the side the Flux.
Assuming it reaches the goal, I hope. Looks dope af. Edit: I am an idiot I was reading $1,542,688 as $1542 like a dumbass lol. Cheers I hope to own one someday.
The only reason I searched for a keyboard like this, is because I'm learning biblical Greek. Looking at the price tag, I'm happy to just use the MacOS on-screen keyboard while I learn to touch type in a second language.
Okay, the possibility of having a keyboard that could also function as a MIDI device has caught my attention. I wonder if how far you could push it, and if you could have a keyboard with not just dials & pads etc., but to actually include piano keys! Being able to have a normal keyboard and a MIDI keyboard complete with volume control and the like is extremely appealing to me! That would be awesome!
@@Klink_live not really, from googling that's just a normal midi keyboard as far as I'm aware? I'm talking about a modular device that could function as a typing keyboard and as a 'musical' keyboard. I wish they had different words haha. But I'm just spitballing EDIT: Thank you for the suggestion though!
It would only be like 2 octaves, but it might be enough for what you do. A way cheaper solution is to get some small controller keyboard, like the Native Instruments M32 (Which I use) or Arturia Keystep? Then you get lots of on hands controllers, and good support in all major music software.
Why not just get an AKAI Mini or whatever (they're only $100) and any old keyboard. That setup will cost you probably a quarter of the price of this thing. And you'll have actual gear.
As a keyboard enthusiast I would love to back your campaign on the spot, but as I have been let down time after time on those kickstarter campagins, I remain at the sideline and eagerly await the release of your keyboard - hoping it will live up to this shiny promo video! Best of luck!
As a keyboard enthusiast you should really notice that the keys are completely smoothed and squished together... you'd be looking down constantly to figure out what keys you're pushing.
For me the most challenging feeling I think we can lose over mechanical keyboards is the key feedback, which could be solved via any kind of subtile haptic feedback. But we absolutely delete the delay on the travel that the key needs in order to make the "push" function, it's amazing.
I'm gonna be honest I'll believe it when I see it... this seems incredible if it can be made to work as well as shown here but I definitely have my doubts... good luck to you guys with this, definitely seems insane if it works entirely as expected...
I had a similar idea with a multi language keyboard that could switch between letter types as a design project a while back, but this completely blows it out of the water. Honestly think this might be the ideal iteration of this idea. Super excited to see where this goes!
The thing is, if you know what AHK and/or MSKCL is then you can type in whatever language you wish to (I can switch to russian or japanese, but because I don't use these languages that often, I don't need that feature that much) Where there's a will, there's a way. For Beakl!
@@piiigeonart Actually, visual changes are quite nice to have, not gonna lie - I wonder if there will be the same problem as I have with RGB keyboards - it is cool for 10 minutes and after that I pretty much never use lightning on my keyboard (maybe eventually a static color), because it is distracting me while I'm typing on it In theory, fantastic thing to have, in practical manner might be an overkill. We'll see...
@@ziomek422 yeah no I was saying the visual changes are good lol. My version only had different parts of keys light up for different letter sets, not as crazy as this. Idk how often the custom background or videos would be used by the average user, overkill might be the right word
This is innovation, I don't expect this to exceed at speed typing or gaming, but this definitely opens endless possibilities for customizations and versatility (hoping it to be optimized for professional software such as capture one and DaVinci Resolve). And it looks absolutely sick.
i think it has implications for gaming, these unique maglev switches & onboard processer might have a small effect but more importantly i think is the macros
Yeah, personally I dont see this replacing my keyboard, but I doo see this as an interesting competitor to my streamdeck XL for macro use. I think it will ultimately come down the software stability/smoothness and how easy it is to create semi complex macros on it. Would love to see Taran Van Hemert “the macro king” make a review of this product
Dude you’ve literally just made my day. I been wanting a keyboard for years that has the tactile feel and ability to switch languages and not have use an onscreen keyboard. It’s perfect! 100% Buying one
Reminds me of the Optimus keyboard. They had a very similar value proposition. Never really took off because it was a solution looking for a problem. The biggest challenge with this paradigm is software. The hardware is easy enough to develop even for a hobbyist, but convincing software developers to implement all the shortcuts and icons is a massive undertaking that's not going to happen unless Apple, Microsoft or Google adopt this tech. That said, pouring sugar on an video of a coffee cup was a pretty genius demo, and picking Melodysheep for the soundtrack was a great move.
People can attach malware payloads onto anything you plug into your computer. It could be hidden in a regular mouse or keyboard just as easily. TF you on about?@@successmaker9258
Would be very nice if there was a community workshop (sort of like Steam) with custom keyboard profiles, specific functions, etc. and the ability to edit/customize from pre-existing profiles.. there's an infinite amount of potential for this keyboards functionality. I'm definitely excited to see what they can do with music software. There is space for this keyboard to transform into the already multi-functional "keyboard" to an entirely different production instrument with the multiple modules and remapable keys. I'm curious to see if this keyboard will be compatible with softwares like FL Studio and Logic.
Why wouldn't it? Im gonna assume you didn't check out the Kickstarter page. The keyboard comes with like 30-40 different program layouts. Every program you can think of basically already comes with it on day 1. Both programs you listed included
Maybe this time it will finally work. Once there was a similar product on the market - optimus popularis keyboard, unfortunately it didn't work out and no one tried anything similar for many years.
I am glad to see a group continue where Art Lebedev left off with the Optimus Maximus and Optimus Popularis. I always thought the concept of a physical computer keyboard with displays on or behind the keys had great potential but Art Lebedev's execution always fell short (to say nothing for their astronomical pricing and poor durability and lifespan.) I wish Flux better success. Also I wish for a module for this keyboard with clicky keys.
Because there is no mechanical keys. Lebedev wanted to make mechanical keyboard with tiny display on each key. Of course it’s very expensive. Every stuff from Art. Lebedev is expensive but because small amount. If you produce millions the price is lower.
~This concept to me is wild, coming from a Kinesis ADvantage keyboard. I also was recommended this video on the right-side tab after seeing the "Finalmouse" Keyboard, which is similar to this, but the keys don't seem to have values, it's just a backlit screen with effects, which is cool, but the keys on the display is very nice.
@@cyrilanisimov I doubt that Flux will be way cheaper than Optimus, looks like another expensive yet useless device. The price point definitely won’t let this become a mass product, probably several major creators or professionals will buy, and that’s all.
@@cyrilanisimov That may have been true of the Maxiums, but the Popularis was a single display with transparent keys over the top. (I've got a couple and have torn one apart.)
I love the screen/keyboard combo. I actually considered something similar with little LCD screens in each key, but your solution does seem better. The extra modules are a nice touch too. Now all you need to do is work on the ergonomics.
I work in a custom computer building and repair shop, and we stay on the cutting edge of tech. This is the first thing I have seen in ages that truly blew my mind. I will be ordering one.
I'm curious how this would feel in terms of heat during long sessions. I love the concept and the modular nature of the keyboard, just don't want the keys getting warm cause the screen underneath became the sun
The back light and processor are all in the top bezel so it rest of it runs cool, in testing the keyboard section only about 10C above ambient, similar to a laptop at idle.
@@fluxkeyboard hmm but the heat also depends on how hot the country is in hot temp a keyboard of an laptop can feel pretty hot to touch.this product does look very promising do
Not to mention you just added another display to your computer & now you've got your keyboard graphics animations slowing down your machine while you're trying to render a project or play a game. Imagine losing in a game because you wanted to have a video playing underneath your fingers that you're not even going to be looking at. This board is for little kids who wake up to take pictures of their desk to post online.
The beauty of this to me is that you can have any key do any function and display what exactly that function is on the key. It's possible to do similar stuff with a traditional keyboard, but the display for the keys makes it much less clunky and confusing.
Video presentation and concept are well done and interesting to watch, good first imppession. I really hope that you'll manage to make it look and feel like actually a good mechanical/membrane keyboard worth such high price and not just a fancy looking cheap quality thing.
This is a stunning product. The customization alone is remarkable but the ability to add knobs and other functionality directly on the keyboard is a game changer.
Better would be if the Internet get shutdown, together with degenerated TikTok, Onlyfans and all Porn sites. The biggest mistake of mankind was to spread the Internet.
You'll spend months customizing it. Then it will crash, and you'll have to do it all over again... I don't want a keyboard that comes with an instruction manual....
@@fluxkeyboard what is full price considering the kickstarter is 349 dollars which is a price that's expensive as hell but not terrible for what it is but your telling us its going to cost MORE?
These are features I would want in mainstream keyboards. I got worried with the space on the top being unused but seeing that you guys use the top for modularity, that's pretty cool. Good luck, I hope this works out.
THIS is what I call innovation. Something that helps people become better at their work and fulfill their needs. Not something that's gonna take over people's jobs and make them completely useless. Incredible job people at FLUX. This innovation will change a lot of people's lives for better.
The great thing about keyboards is you don't need to look at them to control your computer. Also I'm concerned by how the keys would feel. The modules are interesting, but that market is already pretty well served. I'll be interested to see what reviewers have to say, hands-on.
>The great thing about keyboards is you don't need to look at them to control your computer. This is false. People don't use their keyboards at all to control their computers (besides basic text input). Probably less than 5% of users have more than a dozen key combos memorized. If I could look down and see what function is going to be performed by executing a key combo, then I would actually use them.
@@Gooberpatrol66 People who do things like video editing, painting, programming, Photoshop(and many others) use keyboard shortcuts extensively. Keyboard is not just for basic text input. And they do memorize shortcuts eventually after repeated use. For example, when I'm drawing something, I use right hand for drawing, and I put left hand at Ctrl and Z position, and then I can reach common shortcuts like Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Shift+Z without ever looking down at keyboard. And I also don't usually look down at keyboard for many others, because my hands just remembers which one I should press. And besides that, there are people who use key combos to open certain applications(Win+E for explorer for example), or manage opened windows.
@@Gooberpatrol66 The audience for this keyboard is that 5% or less of users. You don't need this keyboard if you aren't a power user, and you don't want to pay for this keyboard if you aren't a power user.

I want this so much, From being able to change the image, video or interactive style behind the keys to hot swappable modules. Everything about this keyboard is innovative and yet so exciting to experience once it's available. And on top of that the fact that it can even show the Keybinds/Shortcuts on the keys itself is also super nice, the advantages for gaming listed would also mean that players based around movement are able to do more precise movement without the hassle of having the time it takes for mechanical switches to reset to their position to allow being pressed down again, and the easy maintenance would be super helpful to people that like to keep their keyboards clean but not have to take every switch off of their keyboard in order to remove debris from between the keys.
The ad team really managed to rizz up a keyboard as the next big tech 😂 Unfortunately, I'll still stick to my DK6 ergo.. Because once you go ergo, you can't go back... Looking at a standard layout just makes my RSI acts up now.
A keyboard like this would be a game changer for video editing and 3D modeling. More people might even take it up, as it would be far easier to learn for many people
This wouldn't change much. It's just a keyboard that looks cool. Having unique dedicated keys are cool, but what's not cool is having to manually change layout if you're swapping between programs, browser tabs, etc.
@@KaffiRawr That's the thing though.. The keyboard is supposed to switch automagically whenever you open new software and have a profile set up for it. And for video editing/3d modeling, this *would* change a lot. One of the most well known tips for those types of software is to "learn the shortcuts to get faster", and having a keyboard that automatically displays shortcut/action names + images would certainly make learning the different shortcuts much easier. Even if it was a legit product, it has so many issues, ergonomics of keycaps will be really bad since they'd be forced to use flat caps, else there will be light distortion. Then unusability in portable settings due to abysmal power consumption. Seems like a vanity product, but productivity interested people will quickly see it won't be useful. I can see myself paying $200-$250 for this, but I doubt that is even close what this would cost. Really cool concept. I'm mostly interested in those dial modules, and how customizable the software, and how many production software it supports.
@@lonelywolf4532 Yeah, that price would need to really come down if they want to even approach the market, it's not an Apple product, people aren't going to pay a premium for a brand they don't know, even if it is really cool and potentially useful. I see this going more the professionals path and less the gamers and regular users.
As a software developer, being forced to look at the keyboard is a HUGE productivity killer, and bad ergonomics. This concept looks nifty in appearances, not so persuasive with over 40 years of typing out code on computer keyboards. Once I got to the point of touch-typing, something like this has had very little practical value, outside of perhaps typing in a password and being slightly more assured your hands aren’t off their proper locations, such that you’ll type it wrong and risk getting locked out.
There are some really innovative ideas in this that I love. It's hard to justify spending $535+ on a keyboard though. Also, I love the dials and that you're planning to make a numpad, but I think you're really missing a simple module with 6 or 8 normal-sized keys. Excited to see how this does on the market! It definitely has a lot of potential.
@@3of12 Biggest problem imo aswell its that we don't really know what to expect from them, this is no Samsung / Apple / Google product, the price is high and the hardware might no be the best out there, but if the software is good enough? @@magicmulder idk about the flux keyboard but for the finalmouse it’s supposed to be a gaming keyboard instead of a casual one but they haven’t released much info on it
Prolly a godsend for different kinds of people working on PC's and keyboard enthusiasts. Really hope that the software would be open source since this would make this keyboard incredibly versatile
I've always thought about a concept like this, specifically to support multiple languages on a single keyboard. This would fit the glove for sure. I doubt it feels as nice as a good mechanical keyboard, but it's a first gen product and I hope you keep improving it.
Looks pretty darn dope. As a developer I have to ask, and I know its still a prototype, but will there be plans for an "API" for this keyboard? So I could write my own things for it? And as a keyboard enthusiast I have to ask about the Switches. Will there be more variants than only one linear & tactile?
@fluxkeyboard I LOVE the design!! I love the approach you took that makes it such a valueable product. Friendly advice though the software is gonna make or break this product, so please give us extensive application support, otherwise it checks all the boxes WOW!!
This is completely possible and actually not hard to do, but it depends on every game company more than the keyboard company, for example if you want to do that on.. "League of legends", you have to hook into the game memory and lookup for the info, this may be against TOS of the game, so the legal way would be to expect Riot Games to develop some sort of "API" that communicates that info with the program without the need of memory reading, which lets be honest, not gonna happen. This applies to every company and game, you have the same two options to retrieve the information, the easy but illegal or shady option by reading its memory (which is against the tos of most games, cause it's like sniffing a network) or expect the developers of every game to make something special just for this keyboard which is not gonna happen. So for them its easier to just make some templates and let the user configure and customize it manually, the automation is not legally feasible. On the other hand there is apps that already provides some kind of api communication for external hardware, like photoshop or some DJ studios, cause they are already being used with third party hardware, that's why they can automatically hook into volume, equalizer, and custom sliders from adobe apps, it's because the company of the app itself already did that, not because of the keyboard company :( It's sad, but its how it works.
This billion dollar idea isnt new, there was keyboard called Optimus Popularis, and did exactly what you describe, but the problem was probably the price.
@@Foor1o86 it's probably because they targeted gamers, this seems like more of a design junky product, and they're usually more willing to waste money (see: adobe suite) and carry something until it gets more viable plus those are all seperate displays on the keys which is ironically more expensive to produce than a single flat sheet display
THAT’S AMAZING! Some people think this is gonna be another flop, but if the prototype worked as well as it did when they showed it off in person, then I’m 100% sure that it will work well when it is released later this year!
How well it works is not as relevant as the price. This thing is cool but most of the functions are gimmicks for the average user and won't make them spend a lot more their keyboard
I'm actually stoked about this, I surely hope this is better than Finalmouse's Centerpiece because it really does, if I have the chance I'll get this. Perfected at its finest!!

Would love to see a full numpad, and more space at the top and sides for additional controls, for those app-specific settings (volume, fader, etc) Watching this one with keen interest
The point isn't to have a bulky keyboard, the point is to have a keyboard where you can swap out the pieces to fit your need. You clearly missed the point of this. "Keen interest"? More like "misunderstood interest"
yes, a complete edition would be a banger. well, but for gamer it could be a bit problematic, because some of us need some keys to feel different. im Searching 4 the perfect keyboard, fullsize wired with mxblue switches, volume knob, heavy and sturdy, qwertz layout (DE-ISO) and a mechanically facated wristrest. so im guess whis is the wrong keyboard.
I want to say two things. Firstly, major kudos on the pristine approach to marketing this product. This video is simply glorious and certainly worked it's magic on me. But the product itself is just such a thing of beauty. I have been waiting for something like this for so long. I have ordered one, and I hope that Flux keeps support for this keyboard functionality well into the future as this has historically been an issue for keyboards which have screens, such as the Logitech G19 and Razer Deathstalker Ultimate. I guess time will tell. Can't wait to get mine!!
I can see this being very useful if it interacts with software like solidworks or Photoshop so keyboard shortcuts can be displayed on the keyboard itself. So if you hold control for example, it'll show you the different combinations of keys you can press along with Ctrl for different shortcuts

It would be so awesome if the software on this (or at least some part of it) was open source! Then, you could run your own programs on it to create more complicated images, shortcurt guides, comminicate with programs on the computer to get some sort of stat display and others. For example, in the editor Emacs, the key combos annot be easily predicted by just the keyboard, so it would have to be an emacs plugin sending the key descriptions to the keyboard. Also, if the keyboard comes with software for the computer, will it be available for linux or at least open source? If that's not possible, then at least publish documentation of the entire protocol, so we can write our own control software for linux!
Hi, this is the current plan: OS driving the display with be open source The key polling firmware will be closed but customizable via ulitity Desktop utility closed with API for extensions We will be looking into Linux support in the future, but you will ideally want to have access to a Windows or Mac computer for customisation of the Flux Keyboard and uploading and customising of layouts. This looks genuinely innovative, it's rare that you see a project that has this level of quality. If this product ever comes to mass market they will sell every single unit for years to come. I assume this is an independent developer creating this. If he/she ever decided to make a company to produce products like this I would be super interested in investing.
As someone who backed this project, I'd just like to let you know that they have been brilliantly transparent with the development process. They have given monthly updates on the dot at the beginning of each month; describing changes, improvements, and reliability testing of both software and hardware. I'm not sure if we're allowed to share what's in the updates, so suffice to say, this keyboard will happen. They're in the endgame (or close to it) of development/production. Hope this helps! 🙂

What's needed to make it strong and cheap is opaque key frames that hide (probably shared) springs/silicon pads. I'd be happy with 3mm key gaps and 2mm opaque border around each key as long as up to 4 symbols can be clearly seen.

It would only be like 2 octaves, but it might be enough for what you do. A way cheaper solution is to get some small controller keyboard, like the Native Instruments M32 (Which I use) or Arturia Keystep? Then you get lots of on hands controllers, and good support in all major music software.

This is false. People don't use their keyboards at all to control their computers (besides basic text input). Probably less than 5% of users have more than a dozen key combos memorized. People spend more than that on basic keyboards just to get the right "thock" sound.
@@nicholash8021 If you have that much money to waste then sure go for it, but this keyboard is mostly just a gimmick and not that many people would actually really benefit from it. Don't get why people would be spending so much money on keyboards to get the right click sound when u can just buy switches for cheap and have such a satisfying click sound though lol
If this gets released I hope the software is open source. I bet me and the community would love to customize beyond the software. Cheers, hope this prospers! 🎉
open-source and compatible with Linux would be amazing
Hope the guys at flux see this. Open source software would make this a must buy for me.
Here they are, everyone! We found the person who will cry when a game doesn't release with mod support.
How about this - instead of saying "please go open source", when not apply to work with them? Holy fuck what a novel concept, right?
@@Dyanosis I'm not sure you understand how open source works. A lot of us already have jobs, and would like to contribute to projects that we use on our spare time.
Software is really what's gonna make or break this thing. Yes it will be for the niche market, but when you release something so feature rich, you obviously need a good middle ground between customizability and simplicity.
This is such an interesting concept, love how its modular too. really hope it becomes a reality
this is amazing, you deserve an applause
That is actually incredible. I've been saying for a long time that we need something with a dynamic background instead of just static rgb lights. This is EXACTLY what I had in mind and more.
Finalmouse is releasing one soon for only $349. They announced it months back.
But what for? Yes it looks cool but is it practical? I dig the freely configurable keys, but the background…
@@magicmulder idk about the flux keyboard but for the finalmouse it’s supposed to be a gaming keyboard instead of a casual one but they haven’t released much info on it

Definitely a cool idea, hope you put proper R&D into this project because I'm sure it'll make a pretty big splash in the market if you pull it off.
don't worry. it won't.
Remember to buy the 85 key ASCII and the 85 key ISO bracket if you want to get most of the multilingual concept.
Looks pretty darn dope. As a developer I have to ask, and I know its still a prototype, but will there be plans for an "API" for this keyboard? So I could write my own things for it? And as a keyboard enthusiast I have to ask about the Switches. Will there be more variants than only one linear & tactile?
@fluxkeyboard
I LOVE the design!! I love the approach you took that makes it such a valueable product.
Friendly advice though the software is gonna make or break this product, so please give us extensive application support, otherwise it checks all the boxes WOW!!

Make a gaming version that dynamically displays all of your in-game character abilities and this is a billion dollar idea
Flux HIRE THIS MAN
This is completely possible and actually not hard to do, but it depends on every game company more than the keyboard company, for example if you want to do that on..
On the other hand there is apps that already provides some kind of api communication for external hardware, like photoshop or some DJ studios, cause they are already being used with third party hardware, that's why they can automatically hook into volume, equalizer, and custom sliders from adobe apps, it's because the company of the app itself already did that, not because of the keyboard company :(
It's sad, but its how it works.
This billion dollar idea isnt new, there was keyboard called Optimus Popularis, and did exactly what you describe, but the problem was probably the price.
@@Foor1o86 it's probably because they targeted gamers, this seems like more of a design junky product, and they're usually more willing to waste money (see: adobe suite) and carry something until it gets more viable
plus those are all seperate displays on the keys which is ironically more expensive to produce than a single flat sheet display
Typically this is displayed in the HUD anyway, and to make use of this feature, you would have to look down at your keyboard, which isn't ideal.
THAT’S AMAZING! Some people think this is gonna be another flop, but if the prototype worked as well as it did when they showed it off in person, then I’m 100% sure that it will work well when it is released later this year!
Optimus Maximus had been made and selling since 2007
dont forget the Razer SwitchBlade concept years back, was the exact same thing as this and that flopped
it's a scam. common folk are so damn gullible.
"any software any language" requires a functioning developer ecosystem.I like your product and hope you guys can successfully pull this out.
Never mind that keyboard, this video is art! (Keyboard looks very amazing though!)
Put it in a gallery then.
Looks like an improved version of the Microsoft Adaptive Keyboard I worked on 14 years ago. Nice!
Side note: the Adaptive Keyboard was publicly demo'ed but never shipped. ⌨️

It's rare these days that I see something that impresses me THIS much. Imagine this thing with a video or music production DAW!
Would love to see a full numpad, and more space at the top and sides for additional controls, for those app-specific settings (volume, fader, etc)
Watching this one with keen interest
Hi, thanks for the feedback! There are USB ports on both sides so you can add a numpad + any additional controls for video and music production
I've been waiting for this keyboard since the experimental microsoft keyboad similar to this.
Beautiful. Brings a tear to my eye. 😪
Let me guess, you have already pre-ordered your perspex keyboard and touchscreen combo?

I can see this being very useful if it interacts with software like solidworks or Photoshop so keyboard shortcuts can be displayed on the keyboard itself. So if you hold control for example, it'll show you the different combinations of keys you can press along with Ctrl for different shortcuts
Wow omg because macros don't exist right? a keyboard is just board with buttons. you realize this is a scam right. you just need a stream deck and AHK/python, you can do it all.

Yeah same train of thought here lmao.
$500+ for a keyboard is just mental, hell $100 is really expensive for a keyboard. For one like this I'd pay $200 max
If that's not possible, then at least publish documentation of the entire protocol, so we can write our own control software for linux!
this
Hi, this is the current plan:
OS driving the display with be open source
The key polling firmware will be closed but customizable via ulitity
Desktop utility closed with API for extensions
We will be looking into Linux support in the future, but you will ideally want to have access to a Windows or Mac computer for customisation of the Flux Keyboard and uploading and customising of layouts.
Hope this helps
@@fluxkeyboard Will custom firmware be allowed?
@@fluxkeyboard So is it gonna be available for linux and why not just go full open source?
@@fluxkeyboard So you managed to take a universal input device that has had standardized compatibility with everything as a HID for decades and make it pretty but incompatible with a MASSIVE amount of devices.
I really hope you upload a new video.. it's so good..
this is the most innovative keyboard ever period . They will make more modules this is sick awesome
I’ve been burned by Kickstarter too many times. But if this ever gets fully developed and has good reviews, I would love to have it.
Seems like it would be great at both editing and gaming. As long as you get the mechanical clicks we all want to feel/hear.
this reeks of a project that will not live up to expectations. keep being skeptical, what they're promising is only the best the _concept_ has to offer and not everything there is even possible or would even feel good to use
I would really love to see this with a numpad! It would make such an improvement especially with the effect yall are going for with custom buttons. Plus the longer keyboards just feel better to use in my opinion but that's me and I'm silly lol. Another benefit of adding one would be to help justify the price point which seems like it may be up there.
Hi, there are USB ports on both sides so you can add a numpad. We are also planning to roll out a Flux numpad next. Hope this helps
Another person who's lost in the world without their precious numpad. It's still a full keyboard. Still has all the keys needed to perform the function of typing. Literally 0 reason for a numpad.
@@Dyanosis Im paying premium price for the keyboard, I want my numpad, that's the sole reason for it, I don't need more. If you don't use your keyboard congrats, there's a lot of people that do! and it's way faster to type numbers.
Wow... Really smart guys love it. Can't wait for it. Will there be a future version with a numpad extension or some sort?
We plan to release a numpad add on in the future, in the mean time you can connect any external numpad to the hub ports on each side
@@fluxkeyboard A version with a numpad could have so many possibilities with modularity of it. Good luck guys!
Big props to the art director of this AD. This could be the best product in the world, but if it isnt properly advertised its useless. Im a designer and i would really love to talk to the person about the creative process of the making of this.
What an awesome idea; I only use ortholinear layouts now, but hopefully that wouldn't be too hard to accommodate someday for this. I could see this being absolutely huge for adobe creative suite users and other media software users.
Sounds awesome and reminds me of the best aspects of the touchbar. But I’m also surprised that this hasn’t been around longer, and I have a hunch it’s going to be way out of most people’s budget

Love the key switching
Check out the cleaning demos in the earlier video or on the website, the transparent frame and keys can be washed with water
As a video editor I'm drooling over this man.
This looks genuinely innovative, it's rare that you see a project that has this level of quality. If this product ever comes to mass market they will sell every single unit for years to come. I assume this is an independent developer creating this. If he/she ever decided to make a company to produce products like this I would be super interested in investing.
You just watched an after effects video not a hardware demo.
This video is 1 year old, and you can only pre-order it.
