Nice. The only negative feedback i have gotten is from people that have an ego trimmer that’s not the multi shaft unit. The straight shaft without the multiple head are a drive by wire that doesn’t allow for installation with the rotary scissors. In either event I’m glad you found the information helpful and appreciate the comment and support !!! 👍🏻
There also another service bolt for grease on the right side of the scissors where the shaft would insert. That one is for the connector rod of the Ego itself. You mentioned it already had grease but it will also need more when you service the rotary scissors itself. Great video! Helped a lot!
I think i know what you are referring too. I appreciate the comment and can mention it in future video. When service i am sure i will record it and put it in future videos. I appreciate the comment and support 👍🏻
I included links in the description after this comment and have updated the description. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Just keep in mind that there are quite a few variation such as tool only and or what battery and size. These factors will Change price and packages offered by ego. Hope this helps you out. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video. Here is Australia, there is a potential issue with warranty coverage for the Multi Tool Power Head unit if anything other than an EGO product purchased from an authorised EGO dealer is used. The EGO Multi Tool Rotocut attachment is similarly priced to most of the third party ones available to us here in Oz. However there will never be an issue with warranty coverage with the EGO branded kit. And that EGO product is designed specifically for EGO Multi Tool Power Head units. Plug and Play. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
Thank you for the comment. The ego rotary scissors look like a great option especially for the reasons you bring up. I will say they are not available in the states believe it or not. I do appreciate the support. Cheers
They were not available at the time i purchased the idech. At that time, the ego rotary scissors were only available in other countries. I did get a deal at the time but yes agree it would have been a better value to go with the ego. Thanks for the comment!!!! 👍🏻
It will not. You need to use an ego with a multi head. The reason for this is due to the straight shaft trimmers they have a drive by wire vs the steal internal shaft that is needed for the rotary scissors. Hope this help. I did address the video linked below. ua-cam.com/video/wt43M2gV0pk/v-deo.htmlsi=30lb5Qlo1G1ToRm9
Big question. So we have to buy the entire ego String trimmer first? So that this thing can attach to it? Because thats quite pricey if you have to FIRST purchase a whole separate tool to get this expensive tool? ?
Yeah. It’s a big investment. If you are starting from scratch you will need a ego trimmer multi head unit style. A lot of the other ego trimmers don’t have an actuall shaft and is driven by wire. Once you have the ego multi head you will need to either buy the one with the trimmer attachment included or like in my case i purchased the ego multi head with a edger attachment. I then purchased a ego trimmer attachment when i purchased the rotary scissors. The other option would be to adapt them to other string trimmer such as a gas powered one. The only thing is they recommend a 30cc one which is a big trimmer. I like electric as there is instant torque which helps move they rotary scissors fairly easily. Hope this help. 👍🏻
@@letmebreakitdown2u152 I was thinking of doing this with just the mult-head and the extension arm that I have for my pole saw instead of the string trimmer. It should work although you may loose and inch or two on the length, but the extension is only about $55 vs $115 for the trimmer
@@atsvc43 I'm not sure that's possible. I think we MUST have a string trimmer head to do the change. I don't think it would work if you used an extension pole ONLY. (But correct me if I'm wrong,)
I do not believe so. Most of the ego string trimmers have a drive by wire system and will not work with rotary scissors. The rotary scissors require a shafted trimmer
The EGO ST1500 is not the right tool as I have gotten ST1500SF & ST1502SA and there's a wire that goes down all the way down and not a pin within the shaft. Can you please clarify which actual EGO string trimmer model you used please?
I address this is another video on my channel. I have linked the video below and is at the 6:00 mark. The ego trimmer that you want is a multi head unit. You will then want to purchase if not include the trimmer head attachment. When using this attachment it’s not a drive by wire but rather a traditional shaft. Sorry for the confusion and appreciate the comment and question ua-cam.com/video/QlEUUuUPjiU/v-deo.html
@@dwaynesworldlawn No problem, I understand, and I was able to get the conversion done and works great. Thank you for posting the video as it's the real deal
I didn’t use the set screw location that was on the original trimmer head. If i did it would cause the unit to be turned 90 degrees. I just went ahead and inserted the shaft into the new rotary scissors and just tighten the side set screw on the rotary scissor. Have had no issues and it works fine with set up i went with.
@@joefigueroa6059 you want to make sure it’s shafted and not a drive by wire system. I believe the auto head is a drive wire system and would not work with rotary scissor. I could be wrong so you want to do some more research.
As long as the trimmer has a shaft that spins the head i can’t imagine it wouldn’t work. In some cases such as ego trimmer that is not a multi head it’s a drive by wires system and will not work.
I have never tried it but my feeling is yes. You would need to verify it’s a shafted design vs drive my wire which is used in the trimmer unless you have the multi head unit. Sorry i can’t give a definitive answer.
If you mean swap out the shaft on a edger i believe it will work. Some people have also mentioned that if you get the pole extension which has no head it will also work but i believe it’s a little shorter in length. If you have a full shaft trimmer that is not the mutiple head unit i do not believe it will work as it has a drive by system and not a inner spine shaft. Hope this helps. I also mention this in one of my other videos on the 8 month review of the Terre rotary scissors. 👍🏻
I would assume it would work but can’t be a 100 percent. My reasons was it just made more sense to use a attachment as i already had the power unit. I also didn’t want to get rid of a string trimmer as in my opinion the rotary scissors are awesome but there are a few times it’s better to use a string trimmer. Hope this helps 👍🏻
@@smoothblak78 So i see what you mean. I have a carbon fiber Shafter trimmer that appears to have that same design. I will bring this up in a future video as it is an important fact!!! Thank you for the feedback 👍🏻

This will only work with units WITHOUT line IQ or power load/split shaft. SOME ego trimmers use a head mounted motor so no drive shaft just wires. Im assumong this only works with the multi tool models.
