This is amazing and I'm so happy that Jenny is talking about an unspoken rule among successful female business leaders. Having to walk that fine line of being confident, but not too confident, of being a leader, but not too bossy, of spearheading a strategy, but not being too pushy, etc. Amazing presentation Jenny, thank you for your wisdom and fearlessness.
@jennyward this talk is so needed. That part about the majority of women being concerned that their confidence would be seen as something abrasive, aggressive etc accentuates the point that we all need to be more aware of our biases. It was awesome seeing you practice and rehearse this talk and that it’s getting the attention it deserves.
This is a really important conversation - there are so many imposter messages in the workplace, where women are implicitly (or explicitly) told they don’t belong… And then they’re told they need to “fix” their confidence issues. Thank you for sharing Jenny.
Oh my gosh, yes yes yes. Thank you for identifying the real issue and being so passionate about creating solutions. You are making such a difference and positive impact. 💥💥
Very interesting! I have always felt confident in my career but have struggled with how to best portray it. I think you’ve articulated a problem that has plagued many of us in the workplace.
This brought me back to a time I took charge of closing duties at my work. The current acting manager was crying because her drawer wouldn’t balance and everyone else was standing around wondering what to do. I figured it was best if we all carried on with closing duties per usual. So I was reading off the list to assign tasks to whomever. The next day I got in trouble for “barking orders” … I was just reading the list off to get it done. Next time I’ll wait until your manager stops crying.
What a powerful talk! It's a moment of self reflection. My resume does read like a job description when I wtite it. I know the amount of money and growth I have created for the companies I have been a part of and yet here I am sitting with impostor syndrome every night. Ted always gathers the best "thinking" brains to empower us.
In a culture that has us value each other based on material and superficial contributions, it is difficult for any of us to attain this disillusioned version of confidence.
Thank you for your eye-opening thoughts about women's confidence in the workplace. You did a great job pointing out some issues and offering solutions! As a leader, I want to ensure my feedback is appropriately given to both men and women. Your talk was quite helpful!
Thank you for a thoughtful and enlightening presentation. I’ve experienced some of what you mentioned too many times to count, not realizing I was in a no-win situation. Thank you for sharing and inspiring more women to better understand how we can advocate for ourselves in the workplace - beyond social norms or gender bias. 🙌🏻
What an excellent, eye opening talk! Jenny is a pro at articulating this important topic and opening up the conversation. Makes me think of lots of situations in my own career, can't wait for the next one!
Such an important topic that should be top of mind for every leader. As a woman and leader myself I have even delivered feedback differently adhering to gender norms. This is NOT a mainstream management training but certainly should be. Thx for such a thought provoking talk that hopefully gets into the hands of leaders that can create the change we so desperately need.
Good things come to those who wait. This is such an important topic and very eye opening to both women and men. Thank you for giving us an insight into navigating the waters of confidence in the workplace.
Did you even listen to the speech? Men are socialized since childhood to be assertive while women are socialized to be modest, not to talk about their beauty, inteligence or achievements. It’s not victimsation, there are tons of studies proving this. And yes, men benefit a lot from the way our societies socialize them and from the fact that women are indirectly told to be modest and to not try to highlight their achievments and and qualities as a person.

Oh gosh - sadly, that sounds like a familiar tale, one I appreciate you sharing. You sound like a leader though, so keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you so much! It was a tremendous boost to my psyche to know that I was right in how my confidence was being received.
Oh Susan, you are so welcome. Thank you for watching.
You are a perfect example on why men get paid more because they deliver a message with more passion more dedication more execution!

Should be titled, “how to cure the confidence crisis… for Women.”
Agreed. It seems like a lot of people from this new generation either lack confidence or they are over confident.
Yes for women
exactly
Lolololol... Hahahaha that is funny bruv
In a culture that has us value each other based on material and superficial contributions, it is difficult for any of us to attain this disillusioned version of confidence.

I clicked on this to help my confidence issues, some good points but as if men don't have problems with confidence too is ridiculous
I couldn't agree more Braedon - confidence issues show up for men and women. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch.

Simple, believe in yourself first and foremost and ignore most detractors.
I couldn't agree more.
@TED Can't you give these uploads a rest now. It's Xmas Eve, FFS!!
Jenny sounds like a physician
I'll. take that as a compliment! Thanks so much for watching.
Again victimising women and telling them it's men's fault for them not having self confidence 🙄 we live in desperate times

@@silviamoloce729 yes I did, and I shared my opinion. You don't have to agree but you can respect it, as much as I do yours 😉
@@silviamoloce729 I appreciate you. Thank you.
I'm sorry it didn't resonate with you, but I truly appreciate you giving it a chance.
@@silviamoloce729 so, conversely, do you not think theres any natural disposition that lead to the way women portray confidence?
Did she get to the point because I turned it off after realizing it's all about women good men are bad?
I'm so sorry you got that impression as it wasn't my intention at all.
"We're paid less..." That's when I stopped watching.
Thanks so much for giving it a chance. I appreciate it.
This is just a work place issue for women? Not when it comes to driving 45 in a 30 during a blizzard? Where are these women from?
I hope you had a safe drive. Thank you for watching. And I'm from Canada. :)
Confidence is a universal thing, but she want to be sexist about it.

This is absurd rhetoric
I appreciate that you watched it - thank you.
