Avro Vulcan, the finest Middle Finger Salute Britain ever gave the world...
This ...
I remember witnessing the Vulcan fly at a local air festival, its one of the sights and sounds i will never forget, has to be one of the most beautiful planes to ever grace the skies, lets fight to keep the XH558 in the skies . . . .VULCAN TO THE SKY ! ! !
well, u tried.....
The B-52 was excellent.
But the Vulcan was Excellenter.
The Vulcan never fails to make my spine tingle, that howl is just incredible 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁
Yes, the B-52 screams, but the Vulcan HOWLS.
*surprised pikachu face*
One of the most gorgeous looking planes ever!
Yes, but Concorde is even more beautiful.
She is howling... She is angry. Gotta just love the Vulcan - show of out and out power.
The world’s best at its time. One amazing aircraft which flew over the USA, took photo’s, and returned to the UK undetected.
also simulated successful nuclear attacks on the US twice :P
I think you are confused with the two exercises when RAF Vulcan's 'attacked' the US from Canada. All but one of 15 aircraft penetrated US air defences without being intercepted. The results of the exercises were classified until the end of the Cold War. The RAF effectively blitzed the US off the map with relative ease- straight through US radar, fighter and SAM defences- with ease.
0:41 The Vulcan talks!
Allow me to translate.
"The Falklands are and will always be BRITISH"
I remember being there watching this that day. I'd never seen a Vulcan fly before so when it went up that quickly and tipped over so heavily, I initially thought it was going to crash, but it just kept on flying in full control. To see something that size achieve that, my 18 year old mind was blown.
Now to help keep her flying with Operation 2015...
Rather impressive, isn't it - just think of it as a bloody large fighter
The Vulcan is Beautiful! It should appear in more games and movies
The B52, The pride of the American strategic bombers. Listen to the power of its mighty engines as it soars into..
Vulcan: Hold my beer...
The Vulcan nuclear bombed the US twice in practice where as the B52 struggled when replicating a soviet attack.
@@gavinpaice8008 Out of the 8 Bombers used in the test only 2 were intercepted, and US interceptors had a hard time locking on or finding them as well
Magnificent plane. I love the huge wing design!
Weird, my 2 favourite planes are probably the most lethal, from a design point of view, they were built to destroy an entire city each.
The most beautiful magnificent plane ever to have graced our skies, and it's ours. Brought tears to my eyes every time I saw it. ❤
Aww no comparison ...Vulcan is numero Uno !! Fantastic!! ✈️😉
The crowd gives the passing B52 a cursory glance, then it’s all eyes back to the Vulcan.
There has never been a better take off than that!
Let the B-52 try that.
@@tenkloosterherman , judge for yourself, I know which one I think looks and sounds the most impressive!.The Vulcans a bomber, but looks and climbs like a fighter!........... ua-cam.com/video/YYOgsgnZ8dw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ginnerthetosser
It's ugliness makes it beautiful. It may seem a contradiction to anybody outside of the realm of aviation, yet it is the truth.
Beautiful sound track.
If I'd have won that 160 million on the lottery I'd personally make sure that XH558 could fly at every air show for as long as I still had breath in my body
And isn't the B52 an ugly old beast.....in a cool sort of way
Amazing airplane... like pre-historic bird... Perfect !
The Vulcan just made that BUFF look like a mug!
It really has to be the most beautiful looking, angriest sounding plane ever!
Awesome. I don't know what it is about Cold War-era bombers, but they are disgustingly creepy and beautiful. They always make creepy sounds. Listen to that B-52 whistling and smoking as it flies over. Must have been the creepiness of the original mission. Nobody would have survived.
We did used to make the best looking aircraft ever. The Spitfire, Mossie and Vulcan...
All the V-bombers were impressive. I reckon Canada needs a full force, plus a reasonable replacement for its Argus maritime patrols. Preferably built in-country, and for a purpose!
I had the privilege of seeing one of these aircraft at RAAF Base Amberley (Australia) during the 80s. From memory, there was an altercation. As is the way with RAAF flightline persons, we always feels the need to leave our mark on visiting aircraft. Apparently, someone stuck an adhesive backed decal of the Australian Flying Kangaroo to the outer skin of the airframe. The issue was that the Vulcan employed a radar absorption paint and the decal now destroyed/compromised its effectiveness. Not too sure how it was resolved, but I recall no directive stating we were NEVER to do it again.
No "radar absorption paint" was used on the Vulcan. They were always getting 'zapped'. One famous image shows XH562 with a Kiwi zap. This example in particular stands out because it was done so 'professionally'. Usually, the zaps were placed on as, when, & where they could be.
That thing can make the earth shake under your feet
I was there to witness this and Kev rumens was the pilot, thanks for sharing
B52 from Barksdale AFB Barksdale, Louisiana USA - The 'Howl' of the Vulcan is addictiing!!
Awesome aircraft thanks for the post
An amazing sight!
I swear the weather has been terrible every time RIAT's on.but thankfully they all still seem to fly
Amazing sound..........plus the wing over!!! Did u know u could actually ROLL a Vulcan!!
They were more agile than an F-15! Impressive or what?
Beaumont the test pilot on the Avro Vulcan did a 360 during testing.
It's on UA-cam also.
It could loop and roll, still waiting to see the B-52 try it.
@@thehighlander959 Roland Beamont (not Beaumont) was the test pilot for the Canberra & Lightning, at English Electric. It was Roly Falk that was the test pilot for Avro. He rolled , the second production Vulcan B.1, XA890, at the September 1955 Farnborough Airshow. There is video footage of it on UA-cam.
People don't get to hear the screech of a big turbojet much anymore.
I love the Vulcan
Good clip. love it :D
WOW .......that's a lot of wing !!
Can you see a B52 do that???
M A J E S T I C.
That would have been almost comical had ATC allowed the take off roll to start as the B52 flew over
Fantastic
It's like the highway patrol sticking the blues and twos on and racing off to chase down the passing low level speeder.
1:10 Let's see the B-52 do THAT! Well, I suppose it can. Once...
Agreed on that one
Who was flying her?
British supersonic Delta-Wing aircraft of the Nuclear age, created and adopted by the British as part of the NATO and ANGLO-AMERICAN nuclear alliance. These would fly in a sortie along with American B52s and Phantoms. They could take off in 15-30sec intervals (MTOT) minimum take off and landing. Sometimes they would take off on opposite sides of the runway with each plane turning on take off the opposite way (so as to avoid collision). US AND NATO could have these planes up and ready to bomb in 5-15mins. Superior to the Soviets. Greatest alliance in history.
The Vulcan was not a supersonic aircraft. However, it's sister, the Handley Page Victor could go supersonic in a dive.
@LordFlasheart575 Thanks (:
@KateLiker Hear hear!
I think the RAF should have done what the Americans did with the B52 update the electrics and you have still got a great bomber.
They don't call it the B.U.F.F. for nothing.
What an air craft
Is that at Fairfield ?
You will never need to use anything fancier than a frame with 2 wheels to fight an enemy that is fighting on a motor car with rolling frame
Wow!!!
God, we British have made some awesome planes, but that Vulcan must surely be the most evil and scary aircraft ever made. It makes the B52 look very ordinary...
I'll just add I once had the good luck and privilege to talk to the pilot of Black Buck One. What he told me is and will be seared on my brain forever...
Operation 2015, don't lose hope!
The Vulcan said to the B52.... 'hold my beer'
I was there 1982 Black buck vulcans
It takes off on a sixpence.
Heaps of grunt
B52: *low fly over to try and steal the thunder*
Vulcan: Yeah mate, none o' that shite *HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLLL*
I've seen F-16's take off and climb like that.
I was going to say “how quick did she accelerate”
B52: listen to how loud i am..............
Vulcan: shut up lad an listen to my roar.......
B52:.........Ok you win 🏆
The Vulcan howl is just phenomenal!
Fairford
it was the prettiest but wasnt it beset with problems?
No.
V the best
B-52 sounds a bit pathetic compared haha
B-52 was designed for long range (thousands of Km), Vulcan was designed for QRA (quick reaction alert scramble) and for outmaneuvering Soviet Mig interceptors at high altitude.
No contest
i used to walk two miles to watch the Vulcans take off from Lutterworth Aerodrome in the Sixties.. Lots of noise and black smoke, i loved every minute. I see they are not using kerosene any more ?
I’m a kiwi and I can spend hours on google earth 🌍 looking at all the old airfields throughout the UK🇬🇧 then I find them on google to see how they looked back in the 1940,s is Lutterworth aerodrome the new Magna park Site??
Oh and I bet you “Loved every minute of it” 👍🏾👍🏾 would loved to have sat there with you but I’m a 76 model and 20,000km away😉 my 2 favourite bombers the Lanc and the Vulcan, favourite fighter the Spit
@@MMCPN RAF Bitteswell as it was called, was turned into Magna Park in 1988.
Hope they had their seat belts on
I can remember watch them taking off in threes at Finningley during the sixties loaded with Blue steel atomic warheads and sky bolts going over the rRussian Coast, the Olimpus engines would scare an enermy just by the sound ,fantastic aircraft, pity its not flying ar present , PUTINS YACHE COULD BE TOWED OUT TO SEA FROM Italy for the vulan to have bombing target lol
excuse my spelling, I'm recovering from aa stroke
You , know if that was a Canon sticking out of the nose instead of refueling probe Vulcan would be blasting B 52 out of the skies ,like clay pidgeons.
Why USA still maintains stratofortres but Uk cannot maintains theirs vulcans or victoris?
Stealth? Why bother. Just scare the shit out of the enemy before they even see you.
In alternate timeline that howl may well have preceded the end of the human race or at least civilization as we know it. The giant metal moth of nuclear apocalypse. Terrifying. Cool though.
Quite nimble for a medium-sized jet bomber that has designs going all the way back to the late 1940's, especially with post war economic austerity lasting a decade or two.
Du that in a B52😢😮😅
One b52 stratofortress downvoted this.
Just to say. Lol
Vulcan 100 tonnes
Rubbish...Vulcans did that all the time! The delta makes them almost stall-proof. They have fighter-like maneuverability!
Notreally jet..
You can't do this with B52
Let's see a B52 take off like that. Not!!
Sorry, but you can not beat that
eat that b 52 the vulcan sounds better and can do so much more in manouverability haha
haha no, i just dont like the way it looks.
TU - 160 the best ever
The Vulcan was designed 30 years before the TU160 and was almost retired by the time the TU160 flew.
the vulcan is ugly looking
