He was almost startlingly handsome as an adult. He looked like he was in a career ebb but still had a lot of mileage. He was a good actor, too, with a charismatic onscreen presence. He's the one you want to look at in a scene.
He has that same voice but grew out of his boyish looks... his face was very cute but he grew up and probably had a hard time trying to transition into adulthood with all the acting roles he had.. He will always be my #1 Crush...❤💔💔❣
I hate that people hated him for growing up. Everyone grows up that doesn't mean he was any less Jonathan. Yes, he looked different but that doesn't mean he deserved to be ignored and his career needed to be destroyed. His career didn't kill him I agree with that but Hollywood did with putting the image that he wasn't good enough into his head and that is heartbreaking he was and still is an amazing person who we lost too soon I miss you Jonathan I hope you're happier now 🙂
Yes exactly, I don’t think the career killed him but what they put him through and then to be just be discarded. His confidence was definitely destroyed and he was left with the damage all by himself. It was too much to handle. Horrible what they do to these kids and they end up so fucked up.
@@Hiimjordanhis father says he thinks he had undiagnosed Bipolar Disorder and they don't blame Hollywood at all. He was going through a little lull his career wasn't destroyed and if he had received treatment he probably would have gone onto bigger and better things or at least made peace with his career and looked into something else.
I feel like bc of Seaquest he didn’t have time to take on more challenging roles like Leonardo’s DiCaprio was. Then you have these new teen idols coming on the scene like Devin sawa, Josh Hartnett etc.
When he says "They say she committed suicide" ☹ I wonder if it was already on his mind. I hate hate hate hate that he took his life. Depression is so painful and blinding.
he was thinking about suicide for at least 2 years before he actually did it, he told his friends he was going to do it but nobody listened until it was too late :(
Talk about talent omg imagine him being a hunter in supernatural. Or a cop on law and order. Or even a hero In a marvel movie. This guy had so much talent and potential
What is everyone talking about? He transferred over from a teen idol with boyish good looks to ruggedly handsome leading man. Such a shame, this guy could have made a huge comeback.
oh wow that nerdy guy from 1:57 to 2:06 is Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. I wish Jonathan had reached out for help, I reckon he would have started getting good roles again. RIP Jonathan!
Always liked him as an actor this is like his dark knight before he passed witch is sad because he was alot better than this he looks different for the first time infront of the camera tell tale sign he was on the road out
He had so much potential I’m telling you a huge career ahead of him so many movies like Spider-Man or cobra Kai I hate that Jonathan brandis left so soon
I noticed his smile faded shortly before seaquest ended and I think that's because he stated in an interview his main goal was to direct and episode but the show got cut short due to bad reviews and less viewers which makes no sense
Whats tragic about it is that if he had just waited some more years, hell propably could have landed some more big roles. Take Josh Brolin or Robert Downey Jr as good examples, the didnt become big really until their ca 45-50s. And still they where trying and trying in Hollywood for decades until they got their big shot. Jonathan Brandis should have just kept grinding, he got a good start, he propably had all money he could want, and he should have just kept going, its not like he was out of work either. He still landed roles. But I guess depression can get the best out of us. Either way, its tragic that he felt he NEEDED that kind of attention of big roles, when he already got so much more than so many others could ever dream of.
Jonathan's voice always sounded like he was from New York. 😄 He had like a northern accent, even though he grew up in California since he was 4 years old.
I completely understand him. I also underwent change of teen look to adult and its horrible. Girls grow to be more beautiful but we guys loose something which is beyond words. When angelic face turn into face of round shape with beard and with falling hairline thats the worst feeling in my life. To see itself and dont recognize your face or hating it... He was also so much beautiful when he was adult, but I understand that he did not recognized himself in the mirror. Its just pain...
Its amazing how much your face can change from a boy/ teen to a man. If he just had some patience he would have been able to easily pull a comeback. So many older actors have done it lately who were famous years ago
@@Bubba__Sawyer he looked weird,he looked like a old teenager or young older man. He aged weird and im sure Hollywood noticed, thats why the roles went away. Im assuming he was in his early or mid 20s here but easily could pass for someone in their late 30s off looks but his voice made it seem he could maybe be a teenager. Rip to him but i have to be honest
Looks like bipolar has really gotten to him, and look where it led him. (According to his dad in 2021, Brandis was suffering from bipolar disorder; which was one of the real reasons why he decide to end things unfortunately.) He would've been great in 'The Dark Knight' series. or any other movie or TV series.
It's a shame this guy gave up, his mature delivery would have served him incredibly later on in life as an actor and it's such a shame he couldn't see that. Being a 20 yr guy in Hollywood is all about looks really when it comes to marketability, he wasn't bad looking but he definitely wasn't in that category as he grew out of his childhood. Such a crying shame he ended it all before he could have achieved exactly what he couldn't have even imagined.
Jonathan Brandis looks his age here, around 25 or so. Too old to be playing a teenager/high school kid. I know it's still a thing Hollywood does today, but it's noticeable, especially from a guy that we saw what he looked like as a real teen around 1993, compared to him here in 2001 or so.
I love Jonathan but I can see why he didn't make a successful transition into adult acting. He quickly lost his biggest asset- his boyish charm and he looked a lot older than 27.

I wouldn't call him "absolutely unrecognizable" at all! Maybe better hair would have helped him, sure. But what you said really was, "piling it on." We MISS YOU, Jonathan Brandis! ❤ So much love to you and your family! ❤

Poor Jonathan Brandis. :( So sad this was his final movie. He was a talented actor.

"I'm having my 18th birthday party but I'm 34"
Lol I was thinking that. Beautiful girl, even today but could pass for 28 or even 38 here.
Brandis was only 23 years old when this was filmed in 2000. He looks like he is in his mid 30s.
Really? 😢
I don't think he looks mid 30s, he looks his age, around 25. Which is why he doesn't come across as a believable high school kid.

I agree.. but I feel that he took his life for other reasons as well..
Something in his personal life that no one knew about maybe..😔
I don't think it's fair to blame his suicide entirely on his dwindling career. There was obviously much more going on with him.
