I also read that Jonathon Brandis auditioned for the role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II(2002) and lost out to Hayden Christensen and that also contributed to the spiral. It’s so sad because he was a good looking guy that was a legitimately good actor. I remember him being really good in “IT”(1990) and thinking he has a very bright future.
Interesting. Brandis would have likely given a better performance than Hayden, but he was also saddled with mainly playing nice guys and they were probably looking for an unknown that could be "brooding", but again Hayden was just a terrible actor even if had the look they were going for. I also remember back then George Lucas was looking for someone in the 18-20 age range, which Hayden was and Jonathan being 25 or so would have been too old to play Anakin by the standards of Lucas.
I loved him in Ladybugs. RIP to both him and Rodney Dangerfield. Unfortunately he died so much younger and before Rodney. I’m surprised he lived in an apartment, he must have made pretty good money on Seaquest but I guess as he got older and didn’t work as much the life he was used to living was disappearing. RIP again to one of my childhood crushes, beautiful Jonathan. I hope he is in a better place.
I was obsessed with Jonathan when I was a teen. I had his posters plastered on my walls. I still feel so sad when I think of him. It makes me happy that he is not forgotten. ❤🎉
I can't believe that I never new that he passed 💔, and if I did hear about it i totally forgot but i really don't think i ever new. Remember him very well and this just blew me away hearing this. Thank you for covering him in this video 📹....😢
That's so sad that he passed on at such a young age. Also seems strange that he would hang himself in the hallway there. I don't know why but in my mind I would think they would want to be in a private place? Anyhow it's incredibly heart breaking.
It’s a very sad case and the timing especially. I’m guessing the hallway was less crowded than his apartment at the moment but the whole situation was very tragic.
I think it was a passive cry for help. That if someone saw him attempting they would stop him. But because no one did, he may have assumed that it was meant to be. Just an opinion
He experienced what Corey haim and Feldman experienced by higher ups. Don’t forget the movie Stepfather 2! That’s my favorite with him. Thx for this. ❤️❤️❤️🌷
No proof…just know heard similar stories and it’s common in Hollywood that they mess with young boys…then the boys becomes addicted to drugs…to numb the pain…look up the young man who was molested by victor salva director of keepers creepers…the Corey’s…Orlando brown…so many of these child stars…but you believe what you want. Johnathan was a great actor anyhow. Only he knew what he went thru.

RIP beautiful boy. I remember his face well as a 90’s kid. He used to date actress Tatyana Ali, they were a cute couple. I hate how often this happens to young Hollywood stars. They’re chewed up and spit out. I never realized he was a 27 club member. You did a nice job telling his story ❤
I was thinking of him for some reason and got on here and found this very well made video by you thx so much . Imo he was underrated as an actor and loved him in anything he did especially as Martha LoL 🤣 hope he found his peace 🕊️💜✌️🌻
That way of death sounds suspicious. Like he found out something. His friends were there. Or they say friends. Couldve all been in on everything. I wouldn't put it past Hollywood. Such a shame too. He was such a good actor. And even if he wasn't, it still would be sad an a shame. I didn't know he died. Just figured he grew up and didn't want to act anymore. But tbh i kinda stopped watching tv a lot. Poor Jonathan.
Humble is oddly specific because this would be palatial to some people with little means and opportunity. Just further speculation; with the roles he had already been cast and shot for, his net worth couldn't have been anything too impressive. Like the videographer said, his star was rising but he also suffered setbacks. An apartment like this would have been quite expensive in that part of town, I would imagine, even in those times. I used the word palatial to create the separation between the have and have-nots as a way to illustrate just how tough life can be even for those that lead a pampered life. Most just blissfully assume because you're an actor or celebrity that you have a lot of money in your bank account which isn't the case at all. In giving this sort of thought exercise you come to appreciate the diversity of life, on either side of the wealth divide. Being an actor also comes with very costly ancillary expenses like having an agent, doing endless casting calls without success and endless days/weeks/months of no income. Truly humanizing the term, starving artist.
His roles were drying up…his graduation towards being an “adult” aged actor was not working out…he still looked too young for his age and people only remembered him for his teenage movies. I am only speculating here…but I think he had a feeling his acting career was over and became depressed to the point to where he could not control the dark feelings. RIP
@@ariassingh462 Agree. He looked so bad at that time. And when I see him there I always remember that young blond with flushed cheeks on Seaquest. Every time I can’t believe it the same person… Also I think he got old quickly because of bad genetics besides depression. I saw how looks his father…

So sad talented actor and very handsome young guy..he needed to get the help he needed be4 it really got bad..hey u know actors has their ups and dwns but I see young actors take whatever job they can’t get and figure it out..
I've walked through there- Wilsher and those neighborhoods while I lived in koreatown and work near the Beverly center... That's amazing when you walk by these buildings you don't know the history. I'm wondering, is there a possibility somebody murdered him? Since there was no drugs in his system. As nice as that area maybe it still is sketchy. Since its near Wilshire boulevard
I don't think he killed himself... It doesn't make sense... He was a few steps away from his apartment, could have easily taken pills instead with no pain... If he was doing it for his last 15 minutes fame then why not take his life on Wilshire Boulevard (could have easily shot himself, still less painful the strangulation).. I am definitely not a conspiracy theorist by any means but it has always bothered me, I believe he was murdered to keep him quiet... Corey and Cory were famous and started to speak up at that time and their words were being dismissed.. it would have gained serious traction if he would have spoke up as well... He was a incredible person with amazing abilities and this world lost him to soon....R.I.P. Jonathan 🥺
I went to a psychic about Jonathan death, since it is still open with LAPD, weird message that Jonathan want fans to stop using his name. Now I do know if this true, but since his fans still post, could it be possible that he is aware of it.
Jonathan could have carved out a nice TV career as he grew older, possibly a supporting actor in big screen movies. But I absolutely think he could have continued as a TV star as the main guy of a TV show. Big screen movies are different, not sure he had the looks or acting chops to be a leading man like say Leonardo DiCaprio, but he absolutely had the talent to have a good career.
I can't believe career setbacks had anything to do with his suicide. Rejection is part of show business. Movies bomb, shows get cancelled. There are people as talented as Usher singing in the street. There is nothing unusual about the setbacks he experienced. And he was a show business veteran at this time, he had to know about rejection and perseverance. On the other hand, Kurt Cobain killed himself at the height of success. This was just a tragic case of mental illness, like his father said.

And he was never in the tabloids for anything bad, which is very refreshing cuz that was happening a lot with most child actors back then.
Such a tragic story. Thanks for your caring and gentle way of sharing it with us.
My daughter just loved Johnathan. She was just devastated when he passed away. So very sad.

You’re wrong about the pipe. He did it from a ‘beam’ so it’s more than likely the structure that you see behind the pipe.

That apartment building looks very humble for an actor who was meant to be such a big deal.

At 2:39 you said "and then in 2023 he was cast...." he died in 2003. Did you mean cast in 2003?
That is correct. 2003 is what I meant
