You know the worst part of this kind of "zombie" is that in nature the cordyceps doesn't kill the host, it keeps them alive as much as possible, what it actually does is "hijack" the host's neural system to take control, like cutting the connection of the host's brain to control every other thing, and then replacing parts of the host with its (the fungus) own, that's why you see those spores growing from the skin. So if you get infected you're pretty much in for a hell of a ride until you finally are able to die, since you're going to be a passenger in your own body not being able to control it yet still feeling everything that's happening to it like the pain of broken bones and deep cuts or the exhaustion of tired muscles. I would to. My life hasn't really amounted to anything. If I could do something like this, I would. I will say, I was able to save my dad with the Heimlich Maneuver when he was choking in 2015 and I kept a girl alive with CPR last year who had OD'd in a Sheetz bathroom until the paramedics got there with Narcan. @@IZabellaArtZ He isn't wrong though, she killed 3-4 FEDRA soldiers or whatever in the game, and was immediately gunned down, there was no epic fight scene, we didn't even see a whole lot of the "fight" Here we get the suspense of a struggle, her losing hope as the lighter is failing, then we see the fact that the infected understand that she's already infected, so it "kisses" her to speed up the process, then her death not only allows Ellie and Joel to escape, but wipes out a whole group of infected in the process.
When i read the comment saying the human body is struggling under the control of the fungus and still technically, using what little original control of its own body it has, reaches out for help, i felt sad
She didn't really die like a badass in the game, in the game she killed maybe 3 soldiers and was gunned down almost immediately, here she takes out an entire school of infected, and we got a bit more lore on how the infected work, as to not attacking someone already infected. IF you hate it so much, go play the game again.
Yeahhhhh I like the game version better. She gets bitten by an infected, make it to the Capital building, and then goes out swinging by killing a couple of militants. I don't know WTF this was lol

They could’ve had her go out guns blazing, but they choose to make this scene with the infected intimate…? Ik the kiss accelerates the process but I would’ve rather seen her go out with a fight…
She stood there and didn't move because she knew she would've been ripped apart if she did anything else. I imagine it would be difficult to light a shitty lighter if you're fighting off dozens of infected/being eaten alive
Am I the only one wondering why she used a lighter to ignight the fuel... why didn't she just hang on to a couple of grenades and detonate them against her ears?
😂why choose slowly and painfully burning there were multiple grenades on the floor she could have even thrown a few at the infected and saved the last for herself
@@CampingforCool41 thats not how that works 😅the drum couldn't have exploded because it was already tiped over so the only thing that could have exploded was the grenades which would have taken atleast minutes to explode also if she did that she wouldnt have had to french an infected
@@danieltaylor6836 I don’t know what you are talking about, we saw the explosion on screen. Unless you’re saying there was a time skip and she burned alive for a minute?
@@CampingforCool41 what caused the explosion is the grenades thats why they have a scene to focus on them to let the audience know The part that makes the scene funny and thus kills the verisimilitude is that instead of using the grenades for the many useful purposes she instend tips over a drum of petrol and then proceeds to fail for an amount of time to then light the petrol enough time to let the infected get past her and even (potentially) stop her from lighting the petrol the reason this is made ridiculous is that by focusing on the grenades they let the audience know There was a better option to slow them down then the one she chose Yes there is a time jump because by the time the church explodes joel and Ellie have travelled a distance away from the church which even if they were running would have taken at least minutes so it can be infrared that her death was slow and she would have been on fire for the time it took her to die which can be simplified to saying she died a slow tortures death by burning
For everyone wondering why the runner kissed Tess instead of biting her, its because she was already bit and the runner realized that after inspecting her, so instead of biting her he kissed her allowing the fungi to enter her body attempting to speed up the time it would take for her to fully turn. That's also the reason none of the others tried eating her. :>
Remember when Sam was afraid that the person might be left in an Infected? This scene makes you think on that. Especially since Fungi is a mind-control parasite.
Why not pull the pins and remove the clips from two grenades, and just hold one in each hand? Three 55 gallon drums of fuel are gonna take a minute to empty, especially since it doesn’t look like she took the vent bung out…but some of that fuel will begin to vaporize as the puddle expands. Wouldn’t the shock waves from the grenades compress the fuel vapor into a weak thermobaric reaction? I’m guessing the shock wave from THAT might compress the majority of the liquid fuel in the drums, which would rupture the drums instantly which if you were super lucky, that pressure might generate enough heat to ignite the fuel that managed to vaporize when the drums ruptured? What’s the science on this?
They're fungi, they don't need to eat, fungi gets it's nutrients from other plant matter and stuff by releasing spores and absorbing them later when it breaks down the nutrients, then shares it with the host body so it can keep running. Other zombie media: they're dead, nothing's running in their body, they don't even need to eat they just want to.
I wish they stuck with the game shootout instead of the infected claiming her as their own. Would’ve been cool to see her blow up fireflies instead of them shooting her dead and walking over her body.
What would really happen is you would see the big flash over of the gasoline like we did and then the grenades would start detonating once they got hot enough in the sustained fire to detonate.

@Badookum I don't think you know what "disingenuous" means. Saying "my argument is disingenuous" simply because I thought her game death was lame and uninteresting is silly.
@ Sorry i was drunk when i typed this out, i still stand by the kiss being weird.
@Badookum The kiss is a bit odd, I will agree with that.
2:26 BRO WTF💀💀☠️☠️
I prefer the way she died in the video game to be honest
It was certainly less gruesome for sure.
Then go play the video game. Why bother watching a show that's exactly the same?
Yes I much preferred this way over the video game ... This was more of a climactic and fitting for her character
@@Blake101247 The infected kissing her was weird took me out of the scene so i prefer the game series has been surprising good so far though
Game soldiers killed her, she went out fighting/ bout joel more time to get away. The show was perfect, both hurt and hope of a better world someday. Awards to both.
The zombies running looked so creepy (from the start)
On the game version it was an army. But on this series version it was a zombies
I would’ve done the same thing Tess did. Cause I care a lot about people even if they’re not family and even if there’s someone I’ve known for a short while. So I sacrifice myself for people in a heartbeat if I had to.
Yeah, let’s see that in practice. Bet you that you wouldn’t
@@BiggestAnimanFan9 I would do that for my family, wouldn’t you sacrifice yourself for your family if you had to buddy? 😏 I bet you care about your family that much to 😏
Even though me getting kissed by that fungus, do you like she did would be gross to the max 🤢 🤮 It’d still be worth it if the people I cared about were in danger and got to get out of there safely from the sacrifice. For a lot of people, family is the most important thing in life.
I haven't been totally useless, but that's all I can really give myself any credit for. I'd love to go out like this.
@@BiggestAnimanFan9 Humans are capable of self sacrifice. It has happened many times throughout history.
@@HuskyMN2002no you wouldn't lol
This scene disturbed me so much that I questioned life.
They did Tess dirty.. she was supposed to go out taking down the military (I don’t recall their official name) instead she went out like a injured birdy accepting the fact it couldn’t fly anymore..
Least ps4 tess flapped them damn wings. .
wow taking out 2 soldiers is way cooler than exploding hundreds of zombies. zombie one is way more epic
@@Mukbangcomplation lol your name is miencraf, thats cool
@@IZabellaArtZ He isn't wrong though, she killed 3-4 FEDRA soldiers or whatever in the game, and was immediately gunned down, there was no epic fight scene, we didn't even see a whole lot of the "fight" Here we get the suspense of a struggle, her losing hope as the lighter is failing, then we see the fact that the infected understand that she's already infected, so it "kisses" her to speed up the process, then her death not only allows Ellie and Joel to escape, but wipes out a whole group of infected in the process.
I’M SORRY BUT THE OUTRO MUSIC MADE ME DIE OF LAUGHTER
this scene really broke me tess was one of very few that personally supported joel after the loss of his baby girl sarah
Nickelodeon kiss of the year award goes too......
When i read the comment saying the human body is struggling under the control of the fungus and still technically, using what little original control of its own body it has, reaches out for help, i felt sad
This is so stupid they did Tess so dirty she died like a badass in the game and they kill her off like this? I'm mad
When I saw that kiss I was like bro you got rizz even as a zombie
Okay but that outro music after that horrific scene is an absolute banger
I love this show so far!
I wish Ann Torv had been on this show longer. She is sooo good
It wasn’t really a kiss, the stalker just held its mouth up real close enough so the cordyceps can reach in her to make her turn faster. It wasn’t really a smooch but it sure looked like one, gross. Really good scene though.
This is why you rather use matches or a bic
Because zippo don’t work unless you just now put fluid in them
Ooookay, i have to point it out : after her lighter failed, why did she not use one of the grenades?
Poor research - Red diesel (liquid) isn't flammable, it's the vapour that is. Red diesel only releases vapour once warmed up to 52 degrees C.
The shows ruined 😢😢
Could’ve just pulled the pin in a nade
They could’ve had her go out guns blazing, but they choose to make this scene with the infected intimate…? Ik the kiss accelerates the process but I would’ve rather seen her go out with a fight…
Tess was so fkn awesome I started watching Fringe with Anna Torv. Not disappointed!
OH Fringe is one of my favorites shows of all time!!! Watch it, you won't be disappointed
@@Joseph_2109 I just started season two. Great show! Had me hooked immediately
@@j4r3d29things will get better and better from now on. Season 3 is a masterpiece
She stood there and didn't move because she knew she would've been ripped apart if she did anything else. I imagine it would be difficult to light a shitty lighter if you're fighting off dozens of infected/being eaten alive
What is the name of the music from the end of the Video?
Tess was infected and even though she hadn’t turned they still didn’t attack her. If that’s the case, why would they attack Ellie?
Ellie isnt actually infected
She has the fungus stuck in her arm and didnt spread further
That's my opinion
Ellie isn't infected in any way, as soon as the infection gets in her body is destroyed by her immune system.
@@toothlessthenightfury2088 I mean technically she is infected because the infection scanner was positive in episode 1.
@@biggmonke8057 that picked up traces if the infection. That's not enough for her to actually be infected
@@biggmonke8057 I think it was positive for Tess, not Ellie. But Tess blamed it on Ellie to cover it up for the time being. That’s my guess.
the lighting of the lighter that doesn't work is so similar to my Dreams when I sleep!!!!
They all blew up with the fire
@@CampingforCool41 thats not how that works 😅the drum couldn't have exploded because it was already tiped over so the only thing that could have exploded was the grenades which would have taken atleast minutes to explode also if she did that she wouldnt have had to french an infected
@@danieltaylor6836 I don’t know what you are talking about, we saw the explosion on screen. Unless you’re saying there was a time skip and she burned alive for a minute?
@@CampingforCool41 what caused the explosion is the grenades thats why they have a scene to focus on them to let the audience know
The part that makes the scene funny and thus kills the verisimilitude is that instead of using the grenades for the many useful purposes she instend tips over a drum of petrol and then proceeds to fail for an amount of time to then light the petrol enough time to let the infected get past her and even (potentially) stop her from lighting the petrol the reason this is made ridiculous is that by focusing on the grenades they let the audience know There was a better option to slow them down then the one she chose
Yes there is a time jump because by the time the church explodes joel and Ellie have travelled a distance away from the church which even if they were running would have taken at least minutes so it can be infrared that her death was slow and she would have been on fire for the time it took her to die which can be simplified to saying she died a slow tortures death by burning
Same energy for the shot from part 2 when Abby grabs Lev. Amazing acting and camera work
Its not the kiss that got me, its the idea of the fungus tendrils beginning to travel through her body from the inside.
OMFG...dude episode three had me tearing up almost🥹🥹🥹🥹 I can only imagine how the other episodes are
Sooo…. How were they?
Would there be people here to tell me why it is fungus coming to "infect" rather than real survivor like in the game, what does it change ?
For everyone wondering why the runner kissed Tess instead of biting her, its because she was already bit and the runner realized that after inspecting her, so instead of biting her he kissed her allowing the fungi to enter her body attempting to speed up the time it would take for her to fully turn. That's also the reason none of the others tried eating her. :>
Remember when Sam was afraid that the person might be left in an Infected? This scene makes you think on that. Especially since Fungi is a mind-control parasite.
Who doesn’t like a bit of cordyceps in the morning?
2:31 why'd they kill off Tess like this?
I don’t get it either, they made the scene unnerving, weird and oddly intimate. They could’ve had her go out guns blazing but they choose that..
@@chaitea5197 you're in quite the minority for not liking this change, I love it. Opinions differ I guess
@JONTRAZ quality over quantity🤷♂️
@@jontraz5993 your right about a few things I just think that it was kinda weird how they couldn't have made Tess go out guns blazing
@@msstephanieflemming2834 well she went grenades blasting instead lol
That kiss is the worst kiss in the history of kisses. Goddamnit!!!!
bro thats a french kiss to the next level
He's definitely muttering: "Help me, help me". -C
Exactly 1 minute. Great attention to detail.
So... why exactly did she just let the zombie kiss her?
She was horny
Hadnt seen the series yet, but didn't Tess die in a gunfight?
She did but they did their own twist on it. And its a really good one too
Yeah. Instead they disrespect her like this lol
@@underdogphooeynah, this was cool
The biggest plot hole in all zombie scenarios is how they haven't all starved to death without food over at least a few years, much less 20 years.
This scenario is different...the fungus literally has a food supply....your human flesh.
It eats it then replaces it with the fungus
@@johnbroadnax23True but there is only so much flesh on our bodies
@@LeumazDnazorit doesn't eat up the flesh fast...plus the fungus helps the flesh last a lot longer till it's like a walking corpse
that is why zombies with magic are pointless for me all those zombies should be all dead in 20 years
That was a vegan kiss
I like to pretend that infected was someone who used to know her with feelings but still a monster to turn her
The beat at the end samples Khurangbin?
RIP Legend Atsuko Tanaka
Tess' JP VA.
Is it me or the infected that kisses Tess says “ help me, please.” right before he goes in?
Run with them don't sacrifice yourself please 😢😢😢😢😢😢
If you saw the entire thing she was already bitten that's why she didn't go with them if she did she would have to get infected and kill them
