今日茶席，第274席【福祿萬代】
我們現在通稱的“葫蘆”之名始於唐代，古則稱壺、瓠、匏等。《詩經》裡“七月食瓜，八月斷壺”裡的“壺”就是指葫蘆。葫蘆是道家八寶之一，為八仙之一鐵柺李所持寶物，能煉丹製藥，普度眾生。
葫蘆主體造型恰似兩個對稱的數字“3”，《道德經》曰：“道生一，一生二，二生三，三生萬物”，可見“三”在中國有著“創世”的意義，中國古代的許多“創世神話”都與葫蘆有關。
葫蘆諧音“福祿”，是富貴的象徵。葫蘆藤蔓中的“蔓”與“萬”諧音，“蔓帶”即“萬代”，寓意“福祿萬代”。因葫蘆多籽，故代表著多子多福。葫蘆由兩個圓球相連，圓潤飽滿，也預示著婚姻幸福美滿。

私たち中国人は瓢箪を「葫蘆」と呼んでいますが、この名前は唐代から使われ始めたもので、古くは壺、瓢、匏などと呼ばれていました。詩経の中には「七月食瓜，八月斷壺」という記述がありますが、この「壺」は瓢箪のことを指しています。
瓢箪は道教の八宝の一つであり、八仙の一人である李鉄拐の所持する宝物です。仙薬を作ることができて、衆生を救うことができます。
瓢箪は数字の「3」を二つ組み合わせたような形をしています。道徳経曰く、「道生一，一生二，二生三，三生萬物」とのことです。
中国では「三」は創世の意味があるようで、また古代中国の創世神話にはどれも瓢箪が関係しています。
「葫蘆」は「福禄」と発音が同じで、富の象徴です。
瓢箪が持つ「蔓」は「万」と同音なので、「蔓帯（蔓を帯びる）」ことは「万代」と同音で、つまり「福禄万代」という意味になります。
瓢箪はタネがたくさんあることから、子孫繁栄の意味もありますね。
瓢箪は二つの玉が連なっていて、丸くて豊満なことから、幸福な結婚生活をも意味します。

We Chinese call gourd "葫蘆", but this name started being used in the Tang Dynasty, and in ancient times it was called 壺, 瓢, and 匏. In 詩經, there is a passage that says, "七月食瓜，八月斷壺" and this 壺 refers to a gourd.
Gourd is one of the eight treasures of Taoism, and is the treasure owned by 李鉄拐, one of the Eight Hermits. It can make elixir and save all living beings.
Gourds are shaped like two "3" combined. According to 道徳経, "道生一，一生二，二生三，三生萬物"
In China, "three” seems to mean the creation of the world, and all ancient Chinese creation myths are related to gourds.
葫蘆 is pronounced the same as 福禄(luck, fortune, and wealth) and is a symbol of wealth.
The 蔓 (vine) that a gourd holds is pronounced the same as萬 (ten thousand), so 蔓帯(having vines) is pronounced the same as 福禄萬代(wealth for generations).
As gourds contain many seeds, they also symbolize prosperity of descendants.
As a gourd has two balls linked together and is round and voluptuous, it also represents a happy married life.
