I love a lot of UA-cam channels but this one has gotta be the best ones ever. I feel like when I watch his videos I've finally found someone I can relate too because literally nobody around me reads books and It makes me sad so thank you so much for this amazing content and i think you deserve 10000x more subscribers than you already have
No one around me reads books either (except my mom, but she hasn't had time to read lately) and I just feel bad for them because reading is such a wonderful, magical thing :)
Ive read the astonishing colour of after and I loved it. What I loved is the descriptions of Taiwan; the food, temples, rituals! How Leigh and her friend used colour to describe their feelings and emotions. The bird was absolutely beautiful! And how the story touched on depression and grief made me enjoy reading so much.
Omg I love the lunar chronicles! I read it like, 3 years ago and I really loved it and I wanted to buy winter (the last book) but I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. I just recently found it in a small bookshop and I’m so exited to finally read it! Although I should probably re read the series bc it’s been a while.
I loved The Astonishing Color of After. It was a 5-star read for me. 💖 I went into it with low expectations, because I didn't think i was going to love it as much as I did. I agree that it could have been 100 pages shorter. I'm still in the process of reading The Lunar Chronicles series. I'm about to start Cress and i am loving this series.
Erica's Bookish World I'm glad you loved it! But my experience with the astonishing color of after was different. I gave it 4 half stars but that's because I found the pacing to be slow and kind of boring. It was very easy to put down and I agree with Jesse it was a bit too long. Of course I still like the book and it had a good writing style. I'm mostly interested to see what else the author writes.
@@genevieveking5078 I definitely agree that the pacing of the story was a bit slow, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I definitely want to read more of her stuff.
Does _the darkest legacy_ have any goblins in it? Us goblins always got on rather well with vikings. We basically taught them everything they knew, so I assume there are a lot of goblins in the book, for historical accuracy, I mean.
The Darkest Legacy is not quite that kind of story. It was more of a modern-set dystopian with unusual struggles for the main characters not related to fey. That would've been interesting, though.
i don't know if you've read it or not. but the book that saved me from my personal reading slump was Daughter of Smoke and Bone and i highly recommend it
@@miraculus4204 thanks! After watching this video, I really felt the need to pick up the book Eragon I've been working in all summer. I'll look up the book you mentioned too, just the title sounds like something I would read! ☺
Layla Maire what helped me was reading a book and listening to the same audiobook, that way you can take a break from reading and still listen to the book
If you haven't read Percy Jackson, read Percy Jackson. You know what, if you have read Percy Jackson, reread some Percy Jackson. It always helps me. #unclerick bois
I read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine over the summer and I loved it! It did take me a long time to get into it, but it was intriguing enough for me to continue and I’m so glad I did! A definite new favourite for me!
Excellent! I always add a ton of books to my TBR after watching your “Books I’ve Read Recently” videos; thank you! I love The Lunar Chronicles! It’s a ton of fun, but I agree with you about Stars Above.
i still need to read the astonishing color of after! and yes, i also felt like stars above was pretty flat and didn't add anything. the series had a satisfying conclusion and didn't need these extra stories.
I've had my eye on The Astonishing Color of After ever since Adam Silvera did a shout out for it on insta! I'm so happy to hear that it's just as great as I hoped it would be! I'm gonna have to read it ASAP!
I’m I the only one who watches these videos with a notepad and a pen just because I know I will want to read most -if not all- the books that Jesse have read ?
Tbh i've just read Cress from Lunar chronicles and i loooooved it sooo much! And i'm definitely going to read next part and the fairest and stars above, i'm just obsessed w/ this series and i belive characters are one of the biggest advantages to it so I CAN'T WAIT😉💚
Just finished Renegades by Marissa Meyer and LOVED IT!!! Cannot wait for the new installment in November! Also, Stars Above has been on my TBR forever, and I'm hoping to finally sit down and read that one this year. Loving me some Marissa Meyer right now :)
My best strategy for reading during the school year is audiobooks! You can listen to one when walking to or from school. Also listen to one if you ride the bus. Maybe if you have a art class you can listen to an audiobook while drawing or whatever. I just thought I would share!
I’m currently rereading The Lunar Chronicles, and I completely forgot how much I loved the series! I read them right when they came out the first time around, so I’ve forgotten a lot of the more humorous parts.
you could say that! it takes place after Winter and the events of the series are summarised in the graphic novels. :)

I feel the same way about Stars Above! The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series, but I just feel like Stars Above was so unnecessary. I also really need to check out the graphic novels series about Iko! She's one of my favorite characters too 💕
A book I have recently read is the 6th book in one my favourite series called The Land of Stories. It's a fantastic series that I totally encourage people to read.
Jesse what type of re telling story you would write and what is your favourite book other than miss peregrine home for peculiar children and your favourite charecter from that book
Yass 😍 I’ve recently read half blood prince, twilight and I’m currently reading throne of glass 💕 I want to read most books that you have talked about in this video 💕 (which was great by the way 😂💕) Because I can here’s a sunflower 🌻
i am in the middle of reading the amateurs and i like it so far i only picked it up bc sara shepard wrote the pretty little liars series and i watched the show and i just wanted to check her out
I read the Name of the Wind lately and WOW. it is long and since you're not that kind of person you night want to start it/ generally read it via audio but its really good and the writing style has just become my fav. Also I read ADSOM for the ADSOReadalongs and it was great. I'm in the middle of a Gathering of Shadows and loving Alucard, really hoping he's gonna remain... You know, alive... *SPOILERS FOR A GATHERING OF SHADOWS* I shipped Alucard and Lila for like 20 pgs and then there was the Alucard and Rhy scene and I was like you know what never mind about THAT. I still love Alucard for making Lila open up a bit and trying to accept her and noticing things about her. The scene where she was spying on him and he caught her and was so raw and real for a moment... I LIVE. In ADSOM I sorta didn't care for Lila but now I'm way more intrigued by her. Haven't finished the book yet, so no spoilers.
I haven't read The Darkest Legacy yet but I have a copy and am working my way through the series. Just finished and LOVED Never Fade!! Which was your favorite?
I love your shirt!! (even though it isn’t blue🙄😂) I haven‘t really read a lot recently but I‘m currently on my fourth reread of Harry Potter and am currently on Chamber Of Secrets😁
I love the Lunar Chronicles, I've read them through about 4 times now, also from Marissa Mayer "Renegades" I recommend anyone who loved the Lunar chronicles to read this book.
5:30 YESS Jesse I’m in love with that series as well I love Marissa Meyer! She writes really great books! Did you get the chance to read Heartless? Super good book with a surprising plot twist.
Jesse I would like to recommend the merciless series by Danielle Vega. It's a horror series about a group of friends who decide to perform an exorcism on their ex friend. It's amazing.
1# The Astonishing Color of After 2# The Darkest Legacy 3# Stars above 4# The Amateurs 5# Follow Me the killer you know Here is the list of the books the were mentioned in the video 😊
Your question is something I've thought about lately. I recently checked my Goodreads and realised I haven't enjoyed a lot of the books I've read this year. Which is why I went back to Harry Potter. The latest new book I've enjoyed was Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and that was back in June. I definitely need some better books :)
I would love for you to do a full-on book talk including spoilers like you did for others so that I can hear more of your thoughts since I have read it as well. My amazing brother bought it for me when I hadn't even asked for it and I would love to know another in-depth opinion.
I’ve read The Darkest Legacy and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I did enjoy it and usually I don’t have much backlash on Alexandra’s pacing even though I can see it but in The Darkest Legacy, it showed. Although I really like the progression of the story and of course I love seeing all of our favorite characters again! (Like it’s squad goals) However, the ending was rushed and she could have edited some things and I wish The Darkest Legacy was a new trilogy rather than a stand-alone because there is so much that could be explored and while we got expansion on it, I feel like we haven’t gotten a real conclusion. And the romance was ok. When I was reading it, I didn’t mind but the one from the Darkest Minds is superior. If the book isn’t a standalone, my opinions will change but overall I enjoyed it but not my favorite. I did not read the Amateurs but I have read Pretty Little Liars and I consider Sara Shepard as one of my gateway authors to YA. She is very entertaining but there is a lot of drama involved. Also the teacher-student relationship is a trope she uses a lot so I am not surprised. I heard mixed things but I do want to try it just for a fun read. If I don’t enjoy it, oh well. Times change
I went into The Astonishing Colour of After not realising it was Magical Realism and I thought the protagonist was dealing with psychosis triggered by grief. It was an interesting experience.
"I've been taking my time with this book aka I'm lazy and didn't want to finish it" ohh man I feel that mood on so many levels lol

Jesse trying not to spoil anything is the cutest and funniest thing ever 😂
I still need to finish the Lunar Chronicles so badly haha! I’ve only read Cinder 😳
The Arctic Sparrow I don’t know if you know, but there is four books in total (other than Cinder and Scarlet)
samee i finished cinder a few weeks ago and i really want to read scarlet but havent had the time or money to do it :((
The Arctic Sparrow I actually thought Cinder was the worst too lol. Cress is the best though
Haha! I just ordered them from amazon, 1 hour ago!😀 Now I just have to wait for a week or two and I'll give thise books a hime in ma bookcase!
I read Cinder and thought it was fine then bought Scarlet and couldn't finish it...

I recently read Legendary recently and loved it :D It was fun. Just started reading Vicious by V. E Schwab- I'm intrigued
Love this! I love your vids :)

I’m so sad. I had to put almost all my books into a box to put into storage for a few months. I really have no idea why, my books are beautiful.
You know what they say....it's a bookish delight
I read follow me, not knowing it was the 2nd book, not sure if I should read 1st one but I know a 3rd one is coming soon
