My Dad was a principal in the 70's. We had the board of education a wood shop teacher made for him on top of our fridge. The worst part was when he said " Go to your room and think about what you did. " Those 10 min of waiting were as painful as the whacks.

A classmate, an athlete, a black man, a Negro, a gentleman of color, coached me up. "Find a rock the size of your first--show up with that." That's all I remember, but my mind has filled in the rest--no fight.
