I grew up going to Bear Island. I can remember many, many weekends waiting on the doc for the first ferry boat with my father talking to Mr. Crews. Great people, great memories. Great video--thank you.

i live in nc and im always going to emerald isle. how come i never knew about this wonderful place?! i'm heading out there, what a lovely history, im also a black teacher so love the spirit of my people

Because it's beautiful and was black owned. So rather than make you knowledgeable about it, the " people " of NC decided to keep it's history secret, control the narrative and take the land under the NC parks department so they could monetize the land...

We had Shady View Beach North Carolina. I don't think it's there anymore.
