Meet Patch Adams (Academy Award® winner, Robin Williams), a doctor who doesn't look, act or think like any doctor you've met before. For Patch, humor is the best medicine, and he's willing to do just about anything to make his patients laugh - even if it means risking his own career. Based on a true story, Patch Adams combines sidesplitting humor with an inspiring story that transcends the traditional comedy.

They definitely don't make movies like this anymore. '90s movies like this had a lot of heart as well as Robin Williams himself and the characters he played! R.I.P.
Very true which someone is going to have to open there eyes to doing again🙏🏾💯
SPREAD THE GOOD ideas and message forward.
Sorry for caps, but nostalgia can be good for binging
as well as bringing excellent ideas and strategums forward into the modern world. 1:01
Depends on how you look at something. In other words, there're many further stories since this I've seen with that, like Cast Away, John Q., and so on.
You are absolutely right 😢!!
indeed! Movies with such great messages regarding human values, although if I was the producerof the film or the person assinged to make the script, I would have made some changes. But still, there are great values such as love, kindness, devotion, generosity, compassion and empathy.
You know the movie is good when u come back to this scene decades later and you still cry.
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!
"You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you--you win, no matter what the outcome!"
EVERY nurse and doctor learning should be made to watch this 3 times during their schooling .......!!!!!!!!!
Robin Williams was special! From drama to comedy, he was the best!
"ALWAYS REMEMBER - Do not let your indifference be the difference that prevents you from making that difference"
great saying!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤@@Janillo2782
I think Doctors/nurses or caretakers and givers NEED to see this first! Before they get brainwashed into losing the ability to listen and remember every person is a person. Who suffer the same fears, inability, inactions, or problems that don’t know how to voice or say is that wrong or I don’t have money I’m just scared and tired of people saying I have a problem. I don’t take issue with doctors but sometimes I feel that yes they hear, but they feel that listening requires a price tag at the end. I know you have to make a living but being rewarded isn’t always money related. I feel that if you go to work, look at people in the eyes and hear them say with a smile or laughter thank you for helping me get through this, it is enough for me to go to work again and going home knowing I made someone better or happy.
A movie that was screened 3 days of my beginning as a medical student.... A movie that lasted for eternity indeed.
The beautiful thing is, the real Patch Adams is still doing great things.
He is doing a great apostleship!!!! He is a saint in real life!!!! May he ascend gloriously to Heaven!
@Janillo2782 no need to preach...
@@Janillo2782 As a Christian it kills me to say this, but the real Dr. Patch Adams is no believer in God. He, himself, has said more than once that he has never given a thought to God in his entire life. Please pray for him. He is one of the righteous among the nations and such a man who treasures his fellow man so deeply and completely should not go to hell for lack of faith in God. Pray for this righteous man's conversion and acceptance of our Lord Hesus Christ!
@@darienmunden3776 WOW, this is truly very hard to believe! What a contradictory statement! Thank you for the information.
thks for the thumbs up
It's not hard to see a part of Robin so prominantly shown in this role. We are all gifted with a spark of madness - don't lose it.
There will never be another Robin Williams. I am grateful for being a witness to his life. ❤
He has made some of thee most touching movies ever. There will never be another like him.
This man was so so special and truly loved 🥲
Robin Williams was hell of a Doctor. R.I.P my friend.
Robin is one of the very few actors that made movies what they are today he is a legend
Always remember you are loved and appreciated amen- may all your wishes be granted prayer for you all and red noses
God i miss that loveble madman... Rest in Peace, Robin. Can't wait to see you on the Other Side
Still remains one of the best movies i can think very deeply about life itself. What a great actor and excellent film.R.I.P Robin Williams.
Is it just me who cried because the scene from 5:43 to 6:33?! I have seen this movie a couple of times but that scene *always* makes me cry.
Movie name?
@@muhammadawais5515 Patch Adams.
Its soo sad that robin passed he truly was the greatest comedian of all time amd one of the truly best actors of all time....
R.I.P Robin Williams
1951-2014
Watching the end of this clip why do I get the feeling it is Robin Williams crying with pride and happiness and not Patch Adams?
It's his reaction at the end that hits me in the feels. When he sees all of them coming to be there for him and the cheerful "thank you."
His happiness, his laughter and pure joy in his expression.
He will be missed.
lmfao

The Robin Williams's "Thank you" will be, forever the most truthful thank you of the history of cinema
Patch was my neighbor in Arlington
He is a kind man with a beautiful vision
Patch Adams is one of the greatest universal movies ever . Robin Williams was the perfect man to play a good doctor . Thank you Robin Williams
Why did you leave us, oh great human being named Robin????????? We miss you terribly! I am crying right now! May God have you in His Glory and may your future life be filled with honors!
thks for the thumbs up!!!!
One of the most greatest, extraordinary, tear-jerking movies I have ever seen. Everything is resumed in one great quality and value: HUMAN WARMTH!!!! And such great heartwarming music!!!!!
U know its the 90s when u see hazy warm lighting all around and beautiful background scores created by actual orchestras..i miss that time..
My fav movie! Just can’t believe the real patch adams wasn’t compensated for this movie nor was his permission asked to produce a movie about his story! When I was in nursing school we had the pleasure to meet the real patch adams. Amazing guy!
This movie brings allot personal information of life. Robin teaches us that, of how to learn & adapt to life.
He was compensated... Fees from the 1998 movie "made it possible to build three beautiful buildings. The real Patch Adams appears in the scene where the medical school staff returns with the verdict.
Quit talking out your ass. He was in the fucking movie lol
WHAT A GREAT UPLIFTING, INSPIRING, HEARTWARMING MOVIE!!!!! MY RESPECTS TO DEAR ROBIN WILLIAMS!!!!
Years ago I drove school buses for a short time. When I applied for the job the guy interviewing me asked me if I knew what the opposite of love was. I took a stab at it and said it was hate. He told me that it is indifference. He was right.
"Sir, I wanna be a doctor with all my heart"... crushing
So good, even when he acted, you could feel his true self
This is the best speech in modern film and cinema, I have ever heard. Thank you Robin Williams. Al Pacino's final speech in Scent of a Woman, and Mel Gibson in Braveheart would be second and third. I often watch this speech 1-15 times/ year, every year. Thank you Robin Williams. Thank you for your talent, empathy, compassion and understanding for others. You truly did fit this role. From Alberta, Canada-Thank you.
Robin was brilliant !
priceless actor gifted unique robin williams.
Bob Gunton was a great actor here. Met him last year and he said Robin Williams made everyone on the set laugh so hard, their stomach muscles were sore.
A comedian and a great actor....one hero of a man
Man, do I NOT need a sad movie right now...but it has been far too long since I saw this amazing film.
In loving memory of Robin Williams, Phillip Hoffman, and good Hollywood movies. Both Robin Williams and Phillip Hoffman were excellent actors and sadly Hollywood at one time made good movies. I hope Hollywood might be able to make good movies again.
They don’t know how any longer, people just don’t have the right minds .
Always live in awe to the miracle of life
Robin , you will never leave us.
I get this but then I remember House. You get attached to every patient, and when they die it takes a mental toll.
This as such a profound movie!! Definitely one of my favorites
Bawling my eyes out rn
It’s sad that Robin Williams had to die for the real Patch Adams to appreciate him.
Really? He never spoke about the film in the time after its release? Patch Adams has a youtube channel just saying.
My God what a talented actor and human being Robin was and is .............
never seen the movie. Seeing this scene alone makes me cry and shed tears.
Mr. Williams, I wish you had come to my door and asking for help.
I CONFESS I SAW THIS MOVIE IN 2022. I AND CRIED AND LAUGHED AND I LIKED IT MORE THAT I KNOW THAT PATCH ADAMS IS A REAL PERSON.
Even though it took some notable liberties with Patch's real story, I love most of "Patch Adams". This scene alone is one of the best in Robin's career, and I think Siskel and Ebert were both greatly wrong to condemn the movie.
R I P the greatest ❤️❤️
Some doctors were really like this. I’ve known a few 🤩 but today it’s a very sad 😞 world.
One of the greatests speeches in film history!
NO Mr.Williams, You became the best damn actor the world has ever seen!! R.I.P Robin, You are missed!
Patch adams is a real man. Not many exist like him anymore... But they could if we just show more compassion
doctor: “you have 6 minutes and 47 seconds left to live”
me:
God bless your heart. Much love. :)
As a student who is entering a premed course. This strikes me very much. 😔😍😍
What he is saying rings true
Soooo miss him.
The director of this movie is not only from my hometown, but he went to the same school as my sisters. In fact, I know THREE of his childhood friends! Nobody will believe how!
...for there to be another person like him, Robin Williams must be born again. I don't think he acted, he was just him in the movies, always from the heart. No difference between real life interviews to films. Pay close attention. They paid him to be him.
robin willaims was an awesome actor.
Who thinks Robin should've gotten Oscar attention for this, as well as Rod Stewert for "Faith of a Heart."
One of my Favorite Robin Williams films
You've found a very appropriate time to launch this video, for we need Patch's advice right now :'(
Robin is a legend
Like if u agree
Beautiful, divine Robin! I miss you so!
He is a thorn id never want to loose:)
He (Robin Williams) is a thorn doesn't hurt you but makes you laugh.
RIP Robin and Philip. Thanks for this very beautiful movie.
This should be a must see for all those student wanting to be a doctor
Robin, this one’s for you:
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the world I'm coming home
Let the rain
Wash away
All the pain
Of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits
And they've forgiven my mistakes
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
Tell the world that I'm coming
Home
You Okay
priceless film.
i know that some people have pulled this film to pieces for various reasons, but his speech in this movie touched me greatly
If only this was how doctors were taught to treat patients and that the old boys club excepted doctors from all walks off life our health systems wouldn't be flawed and empty compared to the amount of paitents they have to deal with (we all know goverments etc like to spend money on war and other things rather than the important things)
Thanks Robin for being such an awesome person
Eldo59 everything you expressed I agree with you in so many ways. Robin Williams was awesome with every character he played he was a real genius. R I P Robin Williams we will never forget you
well done ! thank you
This is exactly why I am a Life Coach!!
Amen.
This movie literally taught me how to be therapist.
You are a good person, thank you for caring.
Rip Robin Williams
4:16 Nurse Roberts wondering if she should invite Patch to her above-ground pool party.
❤
The reason they don't make movies like this anymore is because Hollywood has no toll. This was all about showing the soul and the love of humanity
Hollywood needs to get his soul back.
That's cool Patrick Adam's was a movie about people with soul.
Loving caring good people. That is something that does not exist anymore. Not in this horrible place that we call modern times
I miss you know Robin Williams dam
I tell you….it is a strange thing to really miss someone you’ve never personally met.😢
Saw him live twice.
If only all doctors care as much about their patients this passionately. Big city docs all they care about anymore is the fat paycheck Same for lotta nurses too. Seen plenty of that first hand.
Yes lol yes truth sir ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
If u saw Robin Williams' interview with Conan then u are as much of a fan of him as I am.
Could this not be more relevant rn
Yes, mourn Robin Williams but let’s not forget that Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s no longer with us, too.
Another victim of the opioid scourge.
Who?
These late actors entertained me all my youth. I learned about their deaths and realized that my innocence is dying out.
Both men were great actors, esp in this film. Thank you Robin and Philip.
The better version and meaning of "Doctor"
Doctor's patients all live physically forever ? " What if one of your patients had died ? do we ? all ? Just have a heartfelt " bedside manner " 🙂
cant believe such a an died, wet with tears
If this was made in this decade it would be mixed with political or racial slurs. That's why i loved this so much.
Indifference and not caring. Doctors and nurses just going through the motions because they are too busy or don’t have enough funding or help. Unfortunately this is all too much of a reality today. All too often I turn on the news and there’s a story of a patient who comes to a hospital and they’re turned away without being listened to or treated properly only for them to get worse and die a few days later. It’s a very sad thing indeed.
i love forever
Rip Dame
Dr. Robin Williams Ph. D. in Humanity
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I mean its a good outlook and comes from the right place, but unfortunately it only looks at it from the patient's perspective.
What isn't being taken into account is the strain and toll on the doctor who has to continue going on. If a patient dies, that's the end for them. The doctor has to continue going and go to the next one.
Professional distance is a way to keep the doctor's healthy. That doesn't mean being cold towards patients, it just means you don't get too attached. You can be kind and caring but still distant.
Which movie?
