Pauline, my God bless you; I'm crying tears of sadness and anger at my country for what you had to endure. I'm so so, so sorry that the warped, f**ked up religious zealots forced you to go through that. You are such a strong woman, enough said.
So sorry you went through this hell on earth, as far from Christ as possible 😥 Just read Claire Keegan's book Small Things Like These, written to pay tribute to you and all the wronged. May we all have the courage to right any wrongs we see. May your justice and victory be your reclaimed peace and happiness 💕💕💕
For my mother, Battered and bruised Dazed and confused Souls taken whole. By the men on the pulpit and tales they would tell Of eternal damnation in a place called hell, They said that's where they fell That's where they fell Their transparent prophecy's, their lithographs on the wall They thought they knew it all As they dragged us to the future. Abandoned by the state and left in their faith Handcuffed to devils for sure Their dreams would be heard no more. And babies taken from their mothers arms and it could never be the same, Now Christy sings across their hearts "I'm still haunted by your name". Battered and bruised Dazed and confused Souls taken whole. But they were, weren't they, someone tangible, someone real But I keep waking to this injustice and it all seems surreal. For I can hear them scream, a child without a voice I can see them fall, a child without a choice.
Well done Christy, singing another song about something that needs to be said, that was hidden for too long. And Declans guitar was worth waiting for after all.
Heartbreaking to hear but without Truth there is no song...Joni Mitchell pours her pain for others and herself in this song...Christie Moore is a total genuine Minstrel in Time...
A good read upon this subject is "The Magdalene Martyrs"written by Ken Bruen and Televised as one episode of the Jack Taylor series..Great one from Christy and Donal..
Don't know what to say but Thank you Christie and Declan (Thanks to Ger for mention the other great guitarist). Enjoyed, sat quietly listen to all I've heard from you guys tonight. So many powerful songs.
Prefer Christy singing this although I like Joni Mitchell singing this as well It's about Irelands moral hellholes so the Irish version does it better for me ! Always protest against clergy abuses !
Joni is certainly in the running for all time best songwriter. But in this case, Joni lit the match, and Christy started the fire. And maybe that is how it should be
It's okay. Would've been much better if he hadn't changed the lyrics. I really hate it when singers change the lyrics just because the pov of the song doesn't match their gender. It's silly and diminishes the impact.
Thanks how it's was back then some woman went to to England for to get rid of it and it still goes on today no women should be a shamed it's her choice it's hard for to do it she has the rest life thinking of it about it u could be rapid or in a bad relationship no man women or politicians fuck sake it's he life ok
Beautiful Christy. Thank you. It needed saying. Been there and got the t-shirt. Found my daughter after 51 years. ❤️

When words are too dangerous to say... Sing. Fair play Christy.
As a former Roman Catholic Priest, this song wrecks me.
My friend, my advice: go give the nuns on a bus a hug. They need it, as do you.
Btw , i would give you a thousand thumbs up if I weren't so lazy.
We should all be ashamed that this happened
Sending you a hug
Christy never fails to bring tears to my eyes with this definitive version of Joni Mitchell 's song . Jesus Christ , Why the silence ?
For my mother,
Battered and bruised
Dazed and confused
Souls taken whole.
By the men on the pulpit and tales they would tell
Of eternal damnation in a place called hell,
They said that's where they fell
That's where they fell
Their transparent prophecy's, their lithographs on the wall
They thought they knew it all
As they dragged us to the future.
Abandoned by the state and left in their faith
Handcuffed to devils for sure
Their dreams would be heard no more.
And babies taken from their mothers arms and it could never be the same,
Now Christy sings across their hearts "I'm still haunted by your name".
Battered and bruised
Dazed and confused
Souls taken whole.
But they were, weren't they, someone tangible, someone real
But I keep waking to this injustice and it all seems surreal.
For I can hear them scream, a child without a voice
I can see them fall, a child without a choice.
Amazing performance. This brings tears of sorrow, and even more so, tears of anger.
It took a Canadian to write about a terrible wrong in Irelands past. Brilliant song, that cuts right down to the marrow.
It is impossible not to be moved by this.
Indeed.
Omg such a moving song ……Christy never fails to hit the heart

Nice rendition. However the best version is by the writer, Joni Mitchell. If you like this version you owe it to yourself to hear Joni's version.
