King Charles's coronation could not be as glamorous as Queen Elizabeth's because people grumbled about the cost of the ceremony. For this reason the king chose to be simpler and lost the sense of magic that - as most of you say - his mother's coronation had. Unfortunately, the ceremony had to be adapted to today's conditions. It was necessary so that the king would not be criticized negatively by the people

Nothing to compare really. Different time Different monarch. After Queen Victoria his oldest son Edward VII took the throne just like Charles today. Not every monarch is popular in history. Popularity has nothing to do with hereditary monarchy.
So strange watching back Her Majesty’s coronation knowing it was over 7 decades ago, she’s served her duty and now her son has been coronated.
Both were very exciting! The 1953 version appeared to be more synchronized. There were many fidgety people in 2023 version. However, we also have to keep in mind Charles is 74 years of age. Camilla could work on her royal wave a bit. Maybe slow it down a bit. Queen Elizabeth II was such a pro. I like King Charles regardless.

Elizabeth II was regal, grace personified, at such a young age.
Sadly, despite world wide royalty in attendance (first time in history) KC3 didn’t want tiaras nor Dukes robes worn.. only a few smattering robes. Coronation of QE2 looked like a royal, aristocratic, religious, once in a lifetime event.
KC3 looked like a church wedding w/ the bride n groom CosPlaying GOT since there was too much contrast between the dressed down guests n the K&Q regalia. I understand cutting it time wise and numbers but not inviting loyal lifelong donors n volunteers n friends of the royals because they were aristocrats was a ghastly faux pas by the King. Aristocrats literally saved the monarchy over n over.
Gods how I miss her. And too bad the coronets did not happen this time.

When Elizabeth was crowned you could feel the magic. Charles' coronation felt like nothing
On Tuesday 02nd June 1953 and Saturday 06th May 2023!
Elizabeth II was young, strong and beautiful and as much as I loved watching his coronation, poor King Charles looked so tired and worn. When he stood there in his shirt he looked so vulnerable it made my eyes water.
Queen Elizabeth coronation will always be the best the song is her's.

QE was the most beautiful regal young queen ever in this most gorgeous gown with her fabulous figure, whereas Charles looked like a bit like a clown in purple pyjamas.
The carriages were the same .. the darker carriage is the carriage they arrived in. They travelled in the gold carriage after coronation.

in this ceremony, I have to admit it and not much ceremonial symbolism, from the point of ceremonial visit a lot was set aside, many more symbols were missing, starting with the facade of westinster abbley, which was supposed to have an ephemeral and temporary structure (perhaps shaped castle like the coronations of George V & Edward VII, there would have been good, lack of temporary balconies for guests, and a ritual that was too obscenely bourgeois compared to that of 1953. there is an abyss between these rituals, but there is news that I liked them a lot, like the idea of having the ladies of the royal family dress in the mantles of the knightly orders, the men must have their legendary "chaplet" with an ermine cloak,,, I would spend hours and hours listing what he missed in this coronation hahaha but these are the current times
Very disappointed in this coronation. Only to look at the llate HMTQ’s’s coronation - did you see the Dukes and peers behind her, raising their cornets to honor her. Trying to find the video of her coronation to see what it was really like. Sad.
It was a great Coronation Day and yeah it’s been 70 years since the last Coronation Day and now it finally happened

The people of the UK are so foolish, I don't know why they are so happy to watch that family and scream when they see them, while they are suffering with the way they live and how hard their lives and their children's lives are, but for such a celebration, 1000 times more money was spent than they need for one year.
