IT WORKED!!! I did steps 1, 2 and 3 (clean and soak the cartridges for a few minutes) and even the colour one that I thought was empty, is now working because it actually still had some ink in it. Thank you so much. I rarely use my printer so there are long periods between each usage, so I was really frustrated. You're a lifesaver.
I haven’t used mine in ages like probably over a year so far I’ve managed to get paper flowing through now this ink problem so fingers crossed.

Hi, mine prints the test pages perfectly fine and in great quality so the ink works and internals work. However whenever I send a document to print it comes out completely blank? Anyone had a similar problem and know how to rectify?
This is happening to me, did you ever figure out the problem? So frustrating.

I did every step multiple times and unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I am currently letting them sit in the water for at least an hour.
***My question to you is what happens if it doesn't work?
My color ink is faint but my black ink is nonexistent. I rarely ever need to print anything so spending money on a new printer just doesn't seem worth it if I can avoid it.

Awesome! I've tried all the head cleaning utilities, 2nd level as well, repeated twice but it just got worse. Took the cartridges out and cleaned as per your instructions, ink was then very clearly coming out on the the kitchen roll. Put the cartridges back in, printed a test page PERFECTLY!! I had some unopened black ink cartridges for my HP printer that showed it was full on HP smart app but the return label I was trying to print was coming out blank, after 2 hours of my own troubleshooting, I came acros this video. I finally got the black ink to work by first using q-tip method, it didn’t really budge, so I took some warm water and dipped the bottom part of cartridge (as demonstrated in video) applied a bit of pressure on piece of paper, KIND of left the strip damp and I seen the ink coming out more & more so I quickly put it back in my printer, printed a test page….BLANK….ran a level 1 cartridge clean via Hp smart app, results were wayyy better than after the first cartridge clean I did 2 hours prior to UA-cam and something just told me, girl do a level 2 clean….WHEW I almost shouted because it worked! Kind sir, thank you!

Thanks for the video! Well put together. I didn't need it though. After assessing my options, I did a reexamination of my problem and realized I had to remove the tape from the cartridge. Solved my blank page issue right away.

That has happened to me couple times. First thing I do now make sure the tape is off when I insert back on. 🤣
I only use my printer once a year or less. It only has to work a few times and yet every time I use it it fails to work. Fuck HP

Oh My Goodness! I hadn't printed anything for awhile and when I tried I was having this issue and was panicking because I thought something was wrong with my printer. It didn't say the ink was low and I downloaded the app, which showed I still had ink. I followed your steps unplugging than washing the cartridge, and low and behold it worked. Thank you so much, you saved me money on a cartridge because I knew my ink wasn't low! 😀👏
Hi! I have tried this with my tri-colour ink cartridge, but only green ink comes out when I soak/cleanse it. It's also purely green ink that prints (heavily striped on paper). Anyone know what this means?

Thank you so much your steps worked I cleaned the cartridges with water and put them in water for about 5 mins and now I have printing pages instead of blank ones. I was just about to purchase a new cartridge as a last resort but came across your video ...thanks again much appreciated

Very informative video, thank you for doing this. My 2742e will print a test page fine but if I print a letter size page but with just a return label from Amazon on it I get nothing printed. I am thinking that there may be a driver issue for I'm running Windows 7 Pro and although it wasn't a problem finding one but perhaps when I print a test page it uses a defaullt driver but when I print from lets say Word I get nothing but motion from printer yet a blank page?
I cleaned the cartridge screen and cleaned the print carriage with warm paper towel. Still printing blanks ???

I have the same printer as you and I tried soaking the ink cartridges and.. IT WORKED. My black ink was all dried up and I let it sit in the water for about 5 min. Wiped it down good and viola! It finally prints. Thank you again for this video. Cheers!

Thanks a mill bro! I also slammed the printer to order a new one (it barely a year old and hardly use it). I replaced my ink months back and never used it. I cleaned with the earbuds and also soaked in water in about 2mins +. I dabbed it and observed the ink coming thru. I just printed some important documents...Thanks again. God bless.

Same as previous comment - I was worried I'd have to buy a new cartridge, while mine was just clogged. Cleaned it according to your instruction and it's working perfectly now :)

Definitely worked.. Didn’t know what was wrong with my printer.. It would print color and no black, so I tried to take the color ink out and reprint and blank pages came out. Then I found this video and Holy Moly It worked.!!!!!
my printer cartridge when i cleaned it with a earbud, the ink came on the earbud, but when i dried it with a paper towel, and then dabbed it on a paper, it didn't leak any ink on the paper. So, what should I do? The HP Smart app is shoowing enough ink on my cartridge. but the ink leaks from the printer head only when it's wet and once it's dry, it stops leaking ink.

Thank you so much! I was about to buy new ink. It turns out it was just dry (havent used it in a few months). I let it sit in the water 2 hours and it worked like new! EDIT: It lost about 15-20% of the ink but hey, cheaper than a new one.
Oh my God how many nervous breakdowns has this man helped t avoid? Leave color cartridge sit in the shallow hand hot water as long as possible but probably not overnight. Worked perfectly following instructions above all the ways to soaking but obviously you dry it as best you can (and you do waste ink) before putting it back in. Thank you so much

Cleaning of cartridges can be done by Iso Propyl Alcohol, hand sanitizer, or even Acetone or colourless nail paint remover.
I`m not seeing the HP smart app to download , I downloaded one app but it is different than the one you are using . I'll have to just try and clean the ink cartridge and go from there
It took me 2 hours to print a few black text lines, thats what printers are now.

Thank you so much it worked for me ! I hadn’t used my printer in months so I guess ink had dried up a bit. I left the ink in water for 5 minutes and it didn’t work. So I boiled some water and left them for 20 minutes and then did the option to clean ink via the app and It worked. I had no clue it was even an option to clean it via the app. Thank you !!
