This makes me so happy. It sounds fantastic. Nick has aged beautifully.
Ain't it just! Utter class
Yes it does 🎉
Brilliant makes me smile
So lucky to have “come of age” in the 80s. It couldn’t have been more fun - the clothes, the clubs, the drugs, the bands. Some of my faves still producing music and sounding as good if not better than before. Swing out sisters of the 80s.
Heyward is very talented and criminally under rated.
Wow. The memories of when I first heard this song. I'm not where I thought I'd be through 40 years of twists and turns but this song reminds me of my simple life long ago when everything seemed so new and anything was possible. Music is a powerful drug.
You can tell he's loving this 😍
To have your song brought back to life with a full orchestra behind you. Just amazing 💖
In 1982-83 this was the 80's, a new and modern sound, the dregs of Punk rock were fading and the new wave with Haircut 100, Spandau Ballet, Visage, Duran Duran et al were creating a new path, as a young person it was like the 60's for our new generation, such a great time especially when I was working i London when these hits were in the Top 10, it was part of a renewal, the PVC 70's were over and the slick, digital 80's were here.
You forgot Scritti Politti, Flock Of Seagulls, Modern English, Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, Thompson Twins, Squeeze, etc!
Both comments here - just sound like heaven 💜💜 You guys were lucky 👌 I'm from a younger generation, but 80s music has been everything to me, for almost 20 years 👍👍🎉
63 n in SF since 64- I could write a novel on the bands I’ve seen
Brings me back to the greatest time ever. The big hair the big shoulder pads the mini skirts and 6 inch heels. Love Haircut 💯 Nick is so damn handsome
I was only 9 year's old in 1982. Remember bopping to this Monday evening TOTP's with the older siblings. Good times and good memories ❤ ➕️☝️
This is such a treat, Nick still sounds great fantastic to have them back!
That clarinet dragging behind the beat is killing me
Huh? The clarinet is right on the beat!
@@jimbusby663 The intro. Way behind the beat. It was clearly a choice but it was a bad one ua-cam.com/video/N6J5njY3F2g/v-deo.html
@@jimbusby663 The intro. I think it was a choice but it was a bad one
@@reidfleming2k6agreed. The tempo is slower than the original
Yes he swung the rhythm instead of playing it straight feel. terrible choice.
Nick Heyward making everyone happy with his wonderful music! God bless yer' mate!
What a brilliant arrangement of a great song.
OMG I fancied Nick so much back in the day. I just watched this to see how he looks now and he still looks just as cute!!
You cannot believe how happy this makes me feel to see the boys back together especially Nick and Les. Takes me back to my youth and lifts the spirit so much. Thanks boys for making me so happy.❤
Ah Nick. You were / are the soundtrack of my life. What an extraordinary talent. And still dressing impeccably! This song sounds like a mixture of Hope, Generosity and Sunshine. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
I remember when this first came out, back in the early 80’s
I used to listen to this track every Saturday when I was a teenager
Oh my goodness - what a joy to hear Nick sing this, and with the orchestra - beautiful ❤
It’s fantastic when your childhood bands get back together and are all still healthy to play our childhood memories. Thank you very much for giving me wonderful memories that I’ve made with you and continuing.
Yes very positive music from an enthusiastic & well meaning lead singer. Great music, guys!
Cheers
Jon Siddons
Brilliant. Great vocal and string/wind arrangement. Loved it. Brought a tear to my eye.
One of the best songs of the 80's .
Good song but i preferred Nobody's Fool and Whistle Down The Wind.
Fabulous performance, I always rated Haircut 100 and love their clever infectious pop , this is a classic example of how good they were and still are .
Heck, why is Nick better looking now. What a talented, gorgeous man. Love his voice.
Fantastic in every way. I wish today's teens would give it a spin & find out what music with actual melodies are. BRAVO "H.C. 100"
Haircut 100 should throw this updated version out on the airwaves worldwide to see how it will do .
Great song!! Wonderful orchestral version that still keeps the original feel of the song.
40 years on this song still has its charm…
Great to see Nick and his band mates together with the BBC Orchestra.
I still love you Nicky, 42 years later. ❤️
First record I ever bought..sounds just as amazing now thanks guys!!!
One of the greatest songs of all time🥳🕺
Still got IT...Awesome...Also I must point out that the centre front violinist always stands out to me because he always looks like he really really enjoys working with all these artists. On the David Gray video he is grinning from ear to ear. I've noticed this quite a few times with him. He really appreciates his work. Oh, and by the way, the BBC, are crazy letting Ken Bruce go..... It was a very sad day when Steve Wright went. I've listened to the Steve Wright in the afternoon show for many many many many years. Now at 2 o'clock in the afternoon I switch over to radio four. When Ken Bruce leaves, I will be following him to his new radio station. That's my radio2 days over after decades of listening to quality radio. The only show left that I will be listening to is Elaine Paige on Sunday. In the mornings, I listen to Greg James breakfast. This is because I cannot stand listening to Zoe Ball. Thousands of words per minute come out of her mouth and she says nothing and she's constantly gasping for breath. The only time I listen to radio2 breakfast is if somebody is standing in for her preferably Vernon, Kay.I check every day to see if Vernon Kay or Gary Davies are stepping in for her.if either of those two are stepping in for her, then the breakfast show becomes very pleasurable to listen to. Otherwise, the only choice is to listen to Greg James breakfast.
I agree. So sad to see what's happening to radio two, I only listen to ken Bruce now but that's not for much longer and agree about Zoe, she talks over guests too which I hate.
@@Mel-hl1bb Hi Mel...Not all is lost though....Ken is going over to GHR { Greatest hits Radio and is doing the mid morning show and he's taking Pop Master over there with him 👍🏻😊
Yeah I'll be following him. I like Gary Davis on radio two but that's about it now :-/
Wow,Yr appreciation of the music video spilt over into an unrelated & unnecessary BBC radio rant 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@deanwarde7126 It did rather. Too much bourbon that evening 🥃🥴
Nick is still enjoying it after all thses yrs, his enthusiasm still shines
Perfect, just very perfect.
Nice to see Nick still using a Gretsch orange doublecut , 40 years on and still sounding great too. I thought they were great in their day and a shame that they never made more music with the original line up.
so very beautiful. and Nick is as dreamy as ever.
OH BEAUTIFUL NICK!!!! You still sound so good!
Brilliant! Takes me back to my youth!😊😊😊😊
I was never a Haircut 100 fan until this performance. It works well with the orchestra.
How many memories come rushing back when I hear this?! Thank you - happy days: innocence, Top of the Pops, romance and fun.
Yeah I was there ,,maybe 1982 ,,,,,just turned 18 ,,,out and going mad ,,,,loved this group ,always seemed to be on the radio ,,,lovely memories of my youth ,,,,however thinking where the f did they go and how I am now 58,,,,
Fantastic rendition. Thanks for the memories.
I want and I need the 80s back. Fun time with lots of happy memories. The 80s impossible to surpass.
Lovely 💙💙💙💙💙💙 Never thought at the time I'd be yearning for this time again 🙏💜💜💜🎹🎹🎺🎷🎻🎸🎤🎧
I ran out and bought this album when this song started getting airplay in the US.They sound great🧡
Yep....1982....I was 19 and living away from home for the 1st time a good 6 hour drive from my home town....
Yes I was in college and my roommate was from the east coast and he had the album. I asked him “who the hell is Haircut 100?”
He just smiled and put it onto this song, the most pop-y-est sounding pop song I ever heard. I was hooked!
I played this album all the time in college.
Loved them then , love them now , and Nick is still to die for 😂
Love this song and this group.
love, Love, LOVE this! We need more songs like this! I miss the music of the ‘80s.
Still sounds great. What a fantastic day this is
Outstanding, Nick still has it.
Played Pelican West to death, bought it before it even hit the Top40, such a stunning debut album. Nice Madcap England top your wearing Nick.
Brilliant happy smiley song! God just we need!!
I remember recording the video of this song along with so many other classic 80's flashback hit videos on VHS in the 90"s on a retro channel.Such a classic upbeat song from a great musical era.Relived here with a super orchestral version.!.
Not one word can describe this performance !
i love this band so much, still have their pelican west 1989 reissue japan released CD ❤️💿
Great music, amazing vocals and band !
Brilliant they reformed, definitely a great band.
Absolutely Awesome in Brum tonight it was just a Fantastic Day
Such a great song.
Magical 80s sound ❤
Beautiful arrangement
Always brilliant Nick does it easily.
Outstanding
Need to say no more 👌
You did briliantly Nick!!!! Just seen your live half hour set at Radio 2 in the Park via iplayer. After 2-3 songs, I thought how in tune compared to many live performances then (I'd noticed something was wrong from start) you said you'd been unable to hear anything due to the earpiece!!!! Loved your gig in Bath last year. Great music. Good luck!
This is wonderful!! Love it! And Nick is still adorable! ❤➕☝️
They never got enough credit back in the day. Still sounds great!
Had this on in the car earlier, singing at the top of my voice! Brilliant, happy days 🙂👍🏼
What make of far do you have?
@@Lazy_Sundae I love mad conspiracy theorists like you. They make me laugh. But don't forget I'm watching you all the time. 😉
@@hopebgood I loathe conspiraloons and didn't reference any conspiracies in my comment. Are you sure you're feeling ok, mate? Is there someone we can call for you?
@@Lazy_Sundae Fiat “Tipo” of course 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Joyful tune, great with the strings
Still sounding great 40 years on.
Phenomenal.
Awesome. Also love seeing Christina Applegate on percussion.
Beautiful 👏👏👏👏
Bloody Hell that was brilliant!
Cried with my 80s memories
Such a happy song
I agree with you because I am a qualified lesbian
Lovely song

Wow! He’s still so incredibly hot!! And his voice is just as amazing as it was. Thank you for this!! ✌🏼💖
Nick is sounding and looking great!

This is better than the original recording!
Great sound.
The Joy on Nicks Face 😊
Loved it ❤
Beautifully done
One of my top ten favorite tunes!
Heard a HC100 joke made over 30 years ago just yesterday and felt offended. The joke didn’t age well, but this music is forever timeless.
Smashed it mate good memorys from the 80s x
The vibe in the beginning 🥺
A top quality production. Well performed
