Wow. The memories of when I first heard this song. I'm not where I thought I'd be through 40 years of twists and turns but this song reminds me of my simple life long ago when everything seemed so new and anything was possible. Music is a powerful drug.
Yes! I think about this all the time. I was just watching the original music video for this song and then like climbing out of a time machine I watched this and aged 40+ years. When I hear this song I can remember EXACTLY what life felt like back then. Powerful indeed.
You cannot believe how happy this makes me feel to see the boys back together especially Nick and Les. Takes me back to my youth and lifts the spirit so much. Thanks boys for making me so happy.❤
So lucky to have “come of age” in the 80s. It couldn’t have been more fun - the clothes, the clubs, the drugs, the bands. Some of my faves still producing music and sounding as good if not better than before. Swing out sisters of the 80s.
In 1982-83 this was the 80's, a new and modern sound, the dregs of Punk rock were fading and the new wave with Haircut 100, Spandau Ballet, Visage, Duran Duran et al were creating a new path, as a young person it was like the 60's for our new generation, such a great time especially when I was working i London when these hits were in the Top 10, it was part of a renewal, the PVC 70's were over and the slick, digital 80's were here.
Both comments here - just sound like heaven 💜💜 You guys were lucky 👌 I'm from a younger generation, but 80s music has been everything to me, for almost 20 years 👍👍🎉
@@mauricesoulis1590 You should do it. Would be great to read about lots of bands from a fan's perspective, rather than the usual paid biographer. Cheers! 🍻
Ah Nick. You were / are the soundtrack of my life. What an extraordinary talent. And still dressing impeccably! This song sounds like a mixture of Hope, Generosity and Sunshine. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
It’s fantastic when your childhood bands get back together and are all still healthy to play our childhood memories. Thank you very much for giving me wonderful memories that I’ve made with you and continuing.
Still got IT...Awesome...Also I must point out that the centre front violinist always stands out to me because he always looks like he really really enjoys working with all these artists. On the David Gray video he is grinning from ear to ear. I've noticed this quite a few times with him. He really appreciates his work. Oh, and by the way, the BBC, are crazy letting Ken Bruce go..... It was a very sad day when Steve Wright went. I've listened to the Steve Wright in the afternoon show for many many many many years. Now at 2 o'clock in the afternoon I switch over to radio four. When Ken Bruce leaves, I will be following him to his new radio station. That's my radio2 days over after decades of listening to quality radio. The only show left that I will be listening to is Elaine Paige on Sunday. In the mornings, I listen to Greg James breakfast. This is because I cannot stand listening to Zoe Ball. Thousands of words per minute come out of her mouth and she says nothing and she's constantly gasping for breath. The only time I listen to radio2 breakfast is if somebody is standing in for her preferably Vernon, Kay.I check every day to see if Vernon Kay or Gary Davies are stepping in for her.if either of those two are stepping in for her, then the breakfast show becomes very pleasurable to listen to. Otherwise, the only choice is to listen to Greg James breakfast.
I agree. So sad to see what's happening to radio two, I only listen to ken Bruce now but that's not for much longer and agree about Zoe, she talks over guests too which I hate.
@@Mel-hl1bb Hi Mel...Not all is lost though....Ken is going over to GHR { Greatest hits Radio and is doing the mid morning show and he's taking Pop Master over there with him 👍🏻😊
You did briliantly Nick!!!! Just seen your live half hour set at Radio 2 in the Park via iplayer. After 2-3 songs, I thought how in tune compared to many live performances then (I'd noticed something was wrong from start) you said you'd been unable to hear anything due to the earpiece!!!! Loved your gig in Bath last year. Great music. Good luck!
Fabulous performance, I always rated Haircut 100 and love their clever infectious pop , this is a classic example of how good they were and still are .
Nice to see Nick still using a Gretsch orange doublecut , 40 years on and still sounding great too. I thought they were great in their day and a shame that they never made more music with the original line up.
Yes I was in college and my roommate was from the east coast and he had the album. I asked him “who the hell is Haircut 100?” He just smiled and put it onto this song, the most pop-y-est sounding pop song I ever heard. I was hooked!
@@hopebgood I loathe conspiraloons and didn't reference any conspiracies in my comment. Are you sure you're feeling ok, mate? Is there someone we can call for you?
This makes me so happy. It sounds fantastic. Nick has aged beautifully.
Yes it does 🎉
Brilliant makes me smile

You can tell he's loving this 😍
To have your song brought back to life with a full orchestra behind you. Just amazing 💖
…that’s the apex of most musicians career…to have a noted symphony play your songs behind you
OH BEAUTIFUL NICK!!!! You still sound so good!
Great to see Nick and his band mates together with the BBC Orchestra.

Heyward is very talented and criminally under rated.
Heck, why is Nick better looking now. What a talented, gorgeous man. Love his voice.

Brings me back to the greatest time ever. The big hair the big shoulder pads the mini skirts and 6 inch heels. Love Haircut 💯 Nick is so damn handsome

Nick Heyward making everyone happy with his wonderful music! God bless yer' mate!
What a brilliant arrangement of a great song.

I remember when this first came out, back in the early 80’s
One of the best songs of the 80's .
Good song but i preferred Nobody's Fool and Whistle Down The Wind.
I was only 9 year's old in 1982. Remember bopping to this Monday evening TOTP's with the older siblings. Good times and good memories ❤ ➕️☝️
Oh my goodness - what a joy to hear Nick sing this, and with the orchestra - beautiful ❤
That clarinet dragging behind the beat is killing me
Huh? The clarinet is right on the beat!
@@jimbusby663 The intro. Way behind the beat. It was clearly a choice but it was a bad one ua-cam.com/video/N6J5njY3F2g/v-deo.html

Yes he swung the rhythm instead of playing it straight feel. terrible choice.
Fantastic in every way. I wish today's teens would give it a spin & find out what music with actual melodies are. BRAVO "H.C. 100"
Haircut 100 should throw this updated version out on the airwaves worldwide to see how it will do .

As i remember Nick was very shy, did not crave publicity. Glad to see him doing live as he is so good. And his confidence is amazing.
These BBC symphony whatever that these artists are doing make my life much better. Thank you!
