Friends spent a million baht planting durian trees two years ago in Chiang Rai and the floods this year wiped everything out. Farming really is risky business sometimes if you have some bad luck. Your trees are looking amazing hope it works for you. Remember to never put all your eggs in one basket !!
Just wanna say man, I really look forward to seeing your video updates. I look at a lot of Thailand related content andI by far enjoy yours the best. Just love your content bro.
Glad to see you on you tube again I lost track of you and your wife and your varied and interesting videos myself and my wife enjoyed to watch. Hope you continue to do more videos because you and your wife and your dogs made for great viewing. You also came across as a down to earth bloke and you were always very refreshing to watch
I retired here 3 years ago bought a condo during cov and built a house same as you but i had 100k in tesla, btc, voo. I have 200k now. We dont spend much living on the farm. 10 years ago we planted rubber on wifes farm shes making 1500bht week off just 1 or 2 ria. Tesla just jumped 100% probably going to 100% again. Sp500/voo. 7 to 10 years ill have 1mil usd. Gold 50% this year. But if i had 1 stock pick it would be the sp500 ticker voo not many trader can beat it and when things go south ill tranfer all to voo because tsla btc can drop 200%.
Thanks for the update. I, too, suffered from debilitating sciatica for five years. It's horrible. I finally found a physiotherapist who used acupuncture and specific exercises to help me find relief. It has been a number of years, and I still do the exercises daily, as I feel the pain never totally goes away. I think your plans sound solid. In Canada, we found a diversified ETF VEQT, which has helped with growth over the last five years as we moved into our retirement. We also have a tenant bringing in enough to cover our monthly nut. I am off to BKK next month for the rest of the winter. The farm is looking good. Consistency is the key. You will get there, my son; keep being patient and working hard. Take care of yourself and Pen. From one old farmer to another. Chok dee khrup!
Always good to see your videos. Those epidural or facet joint injections to your back are pretty cheap and quick in the UK privately, probably even more so in Thailand. But there is only so many you can have. You will find something that works, trying everything.
Turns out my family have got a durian farm in Na San, must be just down the road from you. It’s been a little neglected for a while but my Thai nephew is working there now. The accommodation is not yet good enough for me to stay there and I think the trees are younger than yours. Nice spot though.
Yea it's not about savings it's about growth. Your part time job is growing your money. We're training our teen son too. You don't have to work if you can grow your money... Your watch work is impressive. I have a few.. good to see you back in country.
I admire your planning/investing for the future and not simply relying on income from a Pattaya-based UA-cam channel(s). However, if you are counting down to your last 100k GBP, best advice I could give for living long term in Thailand is shave your head, and get used to wearing orange🤭
@@SoybooCow we’re talking 800 kms from Pattaya pal. There’s much more to Thailand than Pattaya and Bangkok. But if that’s where your interests lie, fair play to you.
@WahPreua I'm the first to admit village life is not for me. I'm a city dweller- whether that's Thailand or the UK. Visiting Thailand since 2011, and living here for 2+ years. As I said in my initial comment, it's refreshing to see someone making YT content that isn't the usual tourist spot, 'Top 10 This n That, Best Breakfast, Do's n Dont's' etc etc. Looking after all those animals and the farm is a massive commitment and I have full admiration for that. Hope it works out well🙏
Any investment will be likely to last if you follow the 4% rule. Personally my target is 3.5% rule to be conservative. Your trees are looking good. You also do have some gaps for adding smaller trees. With 70 trees and maybe 30 existing? Say 100 trees in production. Durian takes 4 years before any fruit arrives. A realistic target is up to 50 fruit a year per year. Average weight say 3kg a fruit. Farm gate price this year is 150 baht per kg. We have a durian farm with 80 trees (2.5 Rai). And have option to buy extra land for a further 60 trees next year. Also I invest and have own business. All your goals make good sense. Keep going. One thing I would be concerned about in Surat Thani is security once the trees start producing. Add into your budget for razor wire fencing.
@@WeixDraqz Thai in laws will find a way to spend it, they don’t understand why we keep money in the bank, it’s not our (man & wife) money, its the whole families money, the emotional stuff will start and the spouse will be forced into choosing to helping out.
ISAs. SIPPS, accumulating funds, S&P500 tracker funds. Once you get a sizable chunk of money saved, investments and compound interest does the rest. But it needs you to manage money well, not spend it and have a simple cheap life in Thailand that makes you happy. With age you should be able to save and accumulate more. Farms in Thailand, never make any money; do it for the fun and living in a rural situation; but don't put loads of money into it expecting it will pay you back. We love living upcountry in Issan Thailand.
My advice is any type of business in Thailand is a hobby or keep the wife busy, the real money must be made by you. My wife once told me her dad was spending too much on lottery tickets, i told her to stop giving him too much money, the more you give out, the more they spend. Easy give out less, they wont die

I'm glad your back and making videos!
I had the same problem. I had a herniated disc L4 L5 right side so I understand the pain you’re going through. I wish you a speedy recovery.
same same here - keep mobile - NO lifting .
You are back! Brilliant
Nice to see you back

Wow, big changes on the farm since we visited you pre-covid. The place looks great. Good luck with the saving process. 🙏🤞😊

Look at options trading where you take an income by holding the shares.
your Dogs seem to love their walks .

A stable overseas income is important. Few manage to create an income in the country.
Hi M8 nice to see you back Geoff Liverpool

I'd be interested to know what your experience of Thai worker throughput is - more or less than a UK equivalent? Relative to the amount they get paid?
Tesla is a great investment, you buy some BTC too and you are set for life.
This right here, also Mstr stock... You have to hold all this 5 years at least though, and have a strong conviction not to sell when it dips.
So you cannot do manual work
British national health dont knock it you never know when need it

Your trying to save 500k quid in 1-2 yrs or baht? 😮
Quid for sure 500k baht is nothing if he needs to stay long term.
Welcome back! Do you think it's possible to do the things you have done with a 5k pension? Asking for a friend.
I think you should visit Thailand first then you would know your question is ridicilous 😅
2 Bob
1 billion dollars
300,000, realistic at your age with no income, problem is, it won't last
For Thailand it will last
@@WeixDraqzno it wont, it will be spent, why keep money in the bank, That’s Thai logic
@bobwhite6999 spent on what? he is already living mortgage free in Thailand? It'll slowly be spent, but it'll last enough for 15 to 20 years easily.
