I've never had this problem in all the times I have visited Thailand and didn't realise that this was an issue. Maybe I was lucky, but I will certainly check my notes in the future before I travel. Thanks for this useful informative video.
I would humbly like to point that you missed one cheapest way? Walk into a bank with passport and card to withdraw money. ATMs in Thailand take a flat transaction rate of 220 bath that can be saved in this way. Banks are everywhere in Thailand, especially in Bangkok.
Thumbs up 👍 Best places in Phuket are Value Plus 2 locations Porto De Phuket and Central Mall Mamy Exchange only 1 location kinds out of the way unless you have transportation
I don't have to deal with exchanging physical cash. I put all my cash into a (free) Charles Schwab checking account. When I need to get baht cash, I just go to any ATM and withdraw a small portion as needed. All the ATM fees I get charged for using a out of network bank gets refunded at the end of the month. Additionally withdrawing in moderation keeps my remaining cash in USD (never left the card) so I dont potentially lose any if I were to convert the baht back to USD. This works for any country.
A really well done video!! You have explained everything in the most correct and clear way ever Bravo 👏👏👏 The best exchanges in the city are located in Chit lom area, nearby Central World( Super Rich green and the orange one) Also Vasu exchange below Nana station is good also
Hi Arsen, very good information about exchange rates...you are spot on. I like Super Rich ....very good and the best in my oppinion. Have a good day Arsen and my best wishes
I didn't know about the different rates for different denominations. I was aware about them accepting only notes in pristine condition. As I have a Thai bank account getting cash is not an issue.
in south thailand, especially in ban dannok, padang besar, they have exchange money booth but some of them no have US dollar, Euro, change to thai baht to US dollar or Euro except ringgit malaysia can be ringgit to baht even baht to ringgit
WORKS BOTH WAYS I GAVE A EXCHANGE BOOTH ABOUT 10,000 BACK LAST WEEK BECAUSE THE NOTES HAD WRITING ON THEY DID NOT LIKE IT ONE BIT AND I TOLD THEM IF MY NOTES HAD WRITING ON YOU WOULD GIVE THEM ME BACK
I have a question where can I go to get money exchange that they can use a copy of my passport. Unfortunately I am traveling with a cruise line and they will be holding everyone's passport until the end of the cruise.
Everything you said on your video has happened to me. I have used 50 bucks to exchange money but get a baht lesser than the 100 bill. I got good rates at the gold jewelry store when I was in Udon Thani not knowing if they have any super rich but other name. As far the ATM, they charge me 5 bucks and I could only get 10000 baht out if I remember correctly.
I spoke with my bank here at home in Canada and they said I only get charged 2 dollars from them. How much do the bank machines charge usually ? I was just planning on getting my cash from the atm. Should i bring money to exchange as well ?
Here in the US we have a passport and a passport card the size of a drivers license. Have you heard of a card working as ID or is a full passport the only option?😊
How much do you think someone needs for a 14 day visit to Thailand? It’s my first time visiting and I’ll be doing Bangkok, Chiangmai Mai and Phuket. Tours are already paid for so my buddy and I will just be needing money for food, nightlife and some extracurricular activities.
@@LiveLoveThailand Really? Based on how inexpensive things are there, and the exchange rate of roughly 35 baht to a U.S. dollar, do you really think we’d need that much?
It all depends, besides hotel, per day you need 500 for street food, 500 for travel, 3000 for entertainment. Drinks separate. You may google for the entire fee of historical places. Busses are cheap but the biggest issue is the language with any kind of transaction you choose. Carry crisp bank from notes or will be rejected by the exchanger and the bank.
2 times a machine toke money and I have too take it with my bank office at home. Tank you for answering I will fix my first money at home, then go to bank office near my hotel
What about transferring money using online agencies like western union, moneygram and so on? You don't need to have a bank account in Thailand, you can just choose to pick up cash in Thai Baht. Exchange rates are good with a small transfer fee. Am I missing something?
Hello. I appreciate your efforts. I will come with my wife and two others in March. We will bring cash with us. To avoid having to deal with cards and ATMs. What I want to know is how much cash and dollars we come with so that we won't have any problems when we enter the country.?
@@LiveLoveThailand The maximum will be 4-5k dollars. Not much. I just wanted to ask because I don't know if I have to declare the amount of cash on me when entering Thailand. Thank you.
@@LiveLoveThailand I bought a 14-day flight ticket for the month of March, applied for a visa, and booked hotels where we will stay. I am looking forward to March.
I remember over 20 years ago (before the Euro), I had to convert my currency (Belgian Francs) into USD before travelling because it was the currency most used at the time (many money exchange places didn't have much experience with BEF so would refuse) but boy did I have problems exchanging them for local currency in Indonesia at the time. It turns out USD was the currency most forged at the time and they would refuse to exchange for the slightest reason. Not sure why the vlogger is using USD as an example coz I'm pretty sure Americans don't make up the majority of tourists to Thailand.
I had the problem where there was ink on my dollars they gave them back and 20 meters down the street they changed them without any problems at the same rates without using my passport.
I always tell my bank that I am traveling to another country and can I have clean and unmarked $100 bills. I have used Vasu is that a good place to exchange?
You know if Thailand worried about their sidewalks as much as they worry about ink spots or very slight tears in paper money, they would be a lot better off. Next time I will ask my bank in the US to give me brand new notes and avoid bring about $500.00 back to America because of minute problems. And their money sure doesn't half to be perfect when you use their Baht money,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
In Bangkok soi Arab and Suvarnabhumi Airport next to the ARL station. Many of Bangkok Bank branch offices also allow card withdrawal over the counter without the ATM fee.
The issue of money exchange, not only in Thailand, but all over the world, has the same character, as well as Thai food, where everything is made with rice, even desserts with rice. In all East Asian countries, the same traditions،
