Just put electric ignition on my xs750 also.. makes life so much easier . I just added a 1978 xs750 engine panel (clutch side) the 78 has a oil level window.
Initially, since this bike is a flip, I wasn't going to bother with an electronic ignition for it. After fighting with the points for a solid week and only being able to get the bike to fire on cylinder one I pulled the trigger on the Tytronic. I'm usually pretty proficient with points, but this was really kicking my ass. Doesn't help that I was using NOS stuff because everything for this bike is essentially NLA. I never thought of doing that engine cover swap, that's a fantastic idea. That's a project for this bike's next owner, though.
