    I would love to have a feather damascus knife. But with my income, it would be a difficult task.

    When I first started and had thinner outer layers, if it buckled I could rarely get it to weld cleanly after.

    You add flux when it is red hot, before scale forms but hot enough to melt the flux. If you add it when it is to temp there is no way your flux is faster than oxygen so scale will form and you will have failures. Also, you only need a small amount to coat the steel.
