It’s true. You don’t understand depression until you go through it. People do think you’re trying to be a victim. Doesn’t ever matter how much money you have and how positive you are, it can get you. So nice to hear Tyson’s story. Gives me hope.

Intelligence is a curious phenomenon, Muhammed Ali was an uneducated genius, the US Army had to lower the standard to 'capture' him in the conscription net. I wouldn't agree that Tyson is articulate, his grammar has much to improve upon.

So when I was nine years old I watched my brother die in a boating accident, he bled to death in my arms.
Following that accident my family split apart, my mother was having an affair on my father with the gentleman that was driving the boat.
After my brothers death I was abused for years in a variety of ways, and when I was twelve I decided to commit suicide by hanging myself.
I remember seeing my brother on the other side and he said "I'm with God and everything is ok, we both have our eyes on you. Your time is not yet over and you have to go back because God has plans for your life."
I fell into a bad crowd in high school, I began doing and selling drugs, I fought people for money in backyards, I destroyed other peoples property, I stole things, and I hurt many people.
One day I had an epiphany and decided to cut ties with everyone in my life and I began to focus on golf, and for nine years I moved up and down the west coast of the United States working at multiple golf courses and I was a pro for three years.
But I was still struggling with my mental health issues and I had a breakdown in the parking lot at my last golf tournament.
I spent almost two months in a psych hospital that summer.
A few months ago I began working at Crunch Fitness in Boise Idaho as a janitor because the Gm told me that "you could be a champion bodybuiulder"
This speech resonates with me on a deeply personal level because I know exactly what Tyson is speaking about.
God saved my life and he sent me back to give me a second chance.
My only desire in this life is to be a force for good in this world and to be a role model for those struggling with their own personal demons.
    God bless you Mr Fury.

This is bloody important. No one would be ashamed of a broken leg. No one should be ashamed of mental health issues. This man knocks out professional boxers at the highest level for a living. Anxiety issues and mental health issues do not discriminate who they affect. This man is helping to remove the stigma. More people will get help and support. Personally in the most part Ive dealt with my issue alone. Its been tough and cost me diamonds but Im still here and at least physically strong to fight another day. Thats the main thing. I can relate to everything Tyson just said, I started getting anxiety at 23 years old over a heart condition I discovered I had whilst on duty at work, it was a mild condition and is very common and unlikely to harm me, but it still made me convinced I was going to die on a daily basis and made myself worse with the heart racing and chest pains and struggled with this anxiety and depression for many months to then almost killing myself.. I then got a new job and started training and life got much better beat the anxiety for a good 6 years and life was good. Now I'm 29 and I've recently got myself back into that dark hole again and I've made myself physically ill by messing up my digestive system (low stomach acid production) because of the anxiety and also caused my gut to become out of balance and now I'm fighting everyday to become physically and mentally well again but it's the toughest fight of my life this time I'm 4 months into this fight and I'm praying and fighting for that light at the end of the tunnel. God bless everyone out there struggling and fighting.

Not Joshuas fault Fury disappeared for 2+ years to avoid rematching Wlad and having a drug test, also not his fault Wilders managers are stalling because they want to manuever Wilder into a better bargaining position instead of sending him to London where the refs and judges cant be controlled and only getting a 30/70 split.

The guy is fighting tougher opposition than anyone in the HW division by far, hes about 3 solid wins off being an all time great HW. So I dont buy into the notion that hes scared or protected for one second because hes already taken tons of risks. Been there bro. Sounds *exactly* like me 4-5 years ago. Just push through. One day something will just click. Some people find anti-depressant tablets help. I think they helped me. They don't alter your mind state or anything. There's a chemical imbalance in our brain that needs sorting out. Those tablets can help. You've got to stick with them though. I was on them for about 6 months or so. For me, that wasn't a long time. Depressed and suicidal for about 7 years - 20-27. So taking tablets for 6 months was nothing compared to 7 years of depression. Quitting smoking weed helped immensely as well!
The tablets obviously worked because they got me passed it. Pretty fucked up tough because i was diagnosed with cancer back in May! Got it cut out on the 4th of July. America's independence day is my cancer independence day, lol. I'm on chemo now to try and stop it from coming back. I only mention that to say that even though i was diagnosed with cancer at 33 years old i didn't go back to my dark times. So once you beat depression, it's easier to stay ahead of it, if that makes sense...
Oh yeah, and if you do go to the doctors, try to be assertive! When i first went my doctor told me to read a book and go for a walk! I went back a couple of weeks later and told him that wasn't working. Even when i went about cancer they treated it as IBS for about a month before i told them it's not working and i want further tests!

What a guy, true hero for bouncing back and speaking his mind about what he's been through.

Aye, them saying "looking for attention" are baiting, jealous idiots who just want him back in the mire. (or worse)

anyone that's been following Tyson's career knows he's being real here. I remember the sit down with Wlad for the second fight. He literately said he didn't care about winning or losing or the titles or whatever. He told Wlad if he goes in there and gets his head punched off he didn't care. He was in this very state he's describing here.

Yep i remember watching it and knowing that something wasn't right and that he was being genuine when saying all of that, people in the comments were telling me it was just 'mind games' that Fury was using on Wlad but it was definitely not just mind games more like a cry for help but because Fury is a naturally funny guy very few people took it seriously

It's amazing how relatable this is.
I had some great successes at work and completed some deals that earned me a decent amount of money, I put months of hard work in and fell into a pit of depression for weeks after completion. Everyone around me was bigging it up and patting me on the back m, but inside I felt hollow, lost and without purpose. Of course it's nothing compared to the success of Fury, but on a personal level it's so good to hear it's not just me... nobody I spoke to could understand the massive come down and I had no idea how to cope with it other than pick a new fight and new challenge, but where is the contentment?

Pioneer for raising awareness of mental health and the struggles people go through. Talking is such an important starting point. Massive respect for Tyson Fury. 👏

Just watched another UA-cam vid about Tyson and mental health, only short, but he talks to a lad about mental health after he asks him fo a picture. Didn’t think I could love Tyson Fury any more than I did already!!!! What a geezer he really is. I struggle with anxiety and depression but martial arts helped me. My Sensei died 18 months ago who I loved and I’ve been struggling again since then. Tyson helps and inspires me to keep on, talk about it and be open. God bless you big man, I’m in your corner every step of the way!!!!!!

    What an inspiration!
I think Tyson nailed at one point..... he can't lose in this fight. If he wins, he's an ATG who came back after 2 nothing fights and 3 years and beat 'the baddest man on the planet'........ if he loses - he lost to the 'baddest man on the planet' but got himself back from depression, anxiety, alcoholism, drugs..... but still cahllenged the 'baddest man on the planet'.
    WIN-WIN.

Mental Health is a day to day 24/7 struggle, sometimes you don't get the chance to think about recovering. Awareness like this gives a little bit of hope and reassurance that people are not on their own. If you're reading this and struggling then speak to someone or at least seek help like the mind website. Changing your habits, diet and incorporating good communication practice and exercise are the best aids for mental health. Try to self analyse yourself and listen to your body and mind.
Tyson Fury is an icon, big up the Gypsy King, takes a lot to speak about such issues, even if you are the "heavyweight champion of the world".
