Thank you Ralph, your system is amazing. On my mft top I messed up the alignment. I used the reference hole thingimajik that is provided for making holes at specific intervals. Aligned the opposite end as best as I could. The quad hinge aligned beautifully with the fence. Even with my ineptitude and mistakes, the system cuts beautifully. I am really happy with the system. Alhamdullilah it arrived all in one piece to Pakistan. The packing was great 👍.
Brilliant video, Ralph! I had a very very slight play in my Mft top and so used the calibration slot. Such a minor adjustment but at least it’s bang on square! Loving the “flagging” (made up collective word) of flag stops by the way 👍👍
Hello Ralph, thanks for the great video. I just received 2000mm fence and 450mm square. I am absolutely amazed at how well you packed them and the short time it took to get from you to meet in Hawaii! Thank you. One question, what would you use the right hand fence system for?
Hi, Leo. I hope you are well. I'm glad you are happy with the products. The right-hand fence allows for a few things. 1. Helps with narrow cut rips; if you need some strips of, say, 50mm, this can be pretty difficult as they are narrower than the track to get a consistent measurement from; the Fence allows for waste side cuts, so when calibrated, you can do repeatable thin strips without any issues and accurately. 2. This allows waste side cut support; if you have a long sheet you wish to cut in half, you have a large piece out there with no support and potentially slip when cutting; this gives full support on both sides of the track.
Why is the left fence so big compared to the right? Is this because you plan to rough cut most peices first? Seems like it you are cross cutting of any sheet what is way larger then final size you would have too much material off the right of table?
The right hand fence is generally to support the cut as well as for narrow cut. You can position your fences and hinges to suit your size of your sheets accordingly
The track is designed so that the left side has little risk of tearing, the ride scrap side has more risk of tearing. Furthermore changing your blade on a plunge saw extends the cut depth on the right side, which can defer in width. And do not flip the track because it's not recommended to pull the machine which is very dangerous.
Just ordered the fence 2.1 and the hinge system. Won’t have time to build my top for a month though. Does the fence have go in front of the hinge or can it use the same row of dog holes as the hinge? Thank you.
Hi, Yes, with our tops, we have precisely measured and made the holes so they are perfectly in line with the Plate on the mft. The added fence dog holes also allow the support dog to be placed, giving full support to the underrail.
I missed this part, but I will make another video soon. But I would use a 20mm Benchdogs Setup block with the blade down on your track saw ( please ensure you unplug the saw ). Place the block beside the blade and then slide the right-hand fence to the 20mm block
Benchdog team, whatever happened to a EU store? I dread the taxes on a new order, but I really do love your products and would like to expand my collection!
Hi the EU store wasn’t as easy as we expected it to be with regard to transport and other costs associated with it as well as getting new releases there when we release them. But let me give you a breakdown of why buying from the uk not costing you as much than the EU. 1. The prices in the EU were 10% more to cover logistics, labour and storage etc 2. We don’t charge you VAT on our prices if it leaves the UK but you will have to pay your countries vat rat when it’s shipped. There is no getting around the vat. You actually paid the VAT when we had the EU store. 3. there is a courier charge which is about 15euros but if you take away the 10% you were getting charged extra in the EU this balances this fee In most cases I’ve not heard of duties being added. So when I did the calculation when we moved it back to the UK the customer was better off.

@@RalphBD magic. Thanks Ralph
My right hand support starts at 4 and 2cm on the scale which confuses me greatly??!
Do you sell the work table and or just the MFT tops?
I think that it is a Festool MFT.
Exactly what @robertpearce8394 said. Oh, but watch this space for a future project . wink wink
