Yeah, I remember JRose trying to do spinarak in the Gen 2 remakes and it was brutal. Not surprising that Ledyba couldn't make it. Might be interesting to see if Ledian could manage to avenge its little brother.
How do you stay so focused? I can't even do a Nuzlocke challenge, but here you are slowing the ENTIRE game with only ONE CRAPPY BUG POKEMON! For you, I have MAD RESPECT! 😆☺️
Alright so in today's Q&A we learned that MDB's production is pretty easy for him to do besides words being difficult and that he is insane in a beneficial way
I'm... confused. What was Ledyba's Hidden Power? You mentioned not being able to get it at one point due to not having surf, but by endgame? HP Ice especially could have massively changed that last fight.
Just ran calculations, but even on the rare chance it WAS HP Ice, still a loss. HP ice never OHKO's aerodactyl, but he always gets OHKO'd back, and Double team won't work because Aerial Ace can't miss. Even on the lucky crit to one-shot, Charizard wins the 1v1 easily, especially after gyarados weakens him. Technically you could win by getting to the battle,, THEN swapping Drain punch and Aerial Ace for HP and Double team via TM, double team on the gyarados without getting killed first, crit the aerodactyl, then get enough lucky misses to take down charizard. Which would not only take forever, but would still be counted as a loss by the community. And even then, he'd still immediately be destroyed in Kanto, which has multiple encounters literally impossible to win. Such as Blue's Machamp, which is a 3-shot at best and OHKO's him with always-hit moves. or even just misty, whose lapras can't be crit and wins the 1v1. Or Lt surge, who outspeeds and kills in so many ways.
@@erica2980 At +1 it would depend on the aerodactyl's nature and a damage roll. but that charizard is still 3 hit KO at +1, and I'm not sure how you're getting a +1 to begin with? If you mean from silver wind, good luck getting that off on top of all the double teams and misses you need.
Ran calculations. Only way of winning is if you 1- Have HP ice, incredibly unlikely 2- Swapped Drain punch and Aerial Ace for HP and Double team via TM while in Lance's room, since you need those two to get there. 3- double team on the gyarados without getting killed first using roost to stall 4- crit the aerodactyl (takes 2 hits, always one-shots in return, can't miss) 5- get enough lucky misses to take down charizard. A LOT, given he has healing items. And after those many, many hours to succeed in a way much of the community would reject, Kanto would prove actually unwinnable. Misty's lapras can't be crit wins the 1v1. Lt Surge outspeeds and kills you in so many ways. Blue's machamp one-shots with an unmissable stone edge and is 3 shot in return. I stopped running tests after that. So yeah, even on the 1/18 chance victory was possible, the next battles weren't under any circumstance.
Hi MDB, love to see you posting and loved the VATS run last time. Take care of yourself. I'm guessing you can win with Ledyba because of bug buzz but it will not be easy
24:46 Me too, I get sick of things after YEARS of doing them. I felt insane because everybody else seems to think my way of life is torture. Happy to hear someone else is like me
I'm actually doing this in Ultra Moon right now! Not for uploads, just myself, but still. I just beat Hapu and am currently routing the Elite Four before I go through Mt. Lanakila. And yeah, Im doing Rainbow Rocket and the E4 Rematch. If anyone has questions, I'll answer them when I can.
The only Pokémon challenge I've personally lost was 'Can I beat Pokémon Shield with only One Snorunt'. I blew through most of the game with Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Double Team and Crunch... until I got to Leon. His team took dozens of tries, full Double Team set-up and luck, until I hit his Charizard. I tried it dozens of times, but I couldn't beat it. Gigantamax removes Evasion, Charizard one-shots me, outspeeds me, and it takes several shots to take him down. To beat him I had to use battle and healing items, which broke the rules, so I lost. Love the videos! They always inspire me to try some random, terrible Pokémon/team, which is always a lot of fun, and honestly why I still replay Pokémon.
This is actually his third fail, believe it or not! Check his Wobbefet in Emerald run and his Eevee in Red run if you haven't already! It's just been so long since his last fail.
@@FernXD Nope, it's a fail. In that same follow up video he says "Could I have beaten Pokemon Red with one Eevee? Yes. Did I? No." I think in the challenge after it he even mentioned the Eevee run was a failed run.
Okay, wait, I just did the calculations for Ledyba. If you went with a Max Swords Dance + Return set, you would have been able to one-shot every Pokemon on Lance's team, with the exception of Aerodactyl, who is in a damage range. Yes you would still need to set up against Gyarados, but it would only take 3 turns as opposed to 6 with Double Team. I really think you could have won this.
Oh, just a tip for future runs, stat modifiers are huge, a single swords dance doubles your damage (belly drum multiplies it by 4) and that single speed drop from 18:10 cuts your speed from 100 down to the 60s, so if you have a Pokemon in your run that learns a stat-buffing move, it's probably worth using
Honestly, once it was clear that Ledyba couldn't beat Lance, it would've been cool to like, back up a save to level 99 and then try Lance with a lv 100 Ledian, to see if the power boost makes the fight doable. Sure it technically fails the challenge but you hate to see the little bug work so hard only to come up just short.
so i ran the calcs for anyone intrested DPP aerodactyl vs ledyba ASSUMING AERODACTYL HAS NO EVs AND NEUTRAL NATURE aerial ace from ledyba does only 16.1% max. drain punch maxs out at 21.4% restoring a max of 7% health. bug buzz is a 3 hit at max doing 48% meanwhile aerodactyl at level 48 rock slide does 90.4% MAX crit outright kills naturally. aerial ace does 36.5% and 73% on a crit drain punch does absolutely jack to ALL of lances pokemon being -1 the whole fight so yeah this is damn near impossible espically if lance has good AI and spams aerial ace on aerodactyl with double team this challenge is damn near if not impossible
All 3 of my favorite poketubers post within like 4 hours of each other, and it ends with my favorite one of all. Hope you're doing well today. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment mdb.
I ran a few damage calcs: - Keep silver wind, obtain hidden power ice or electric - Silver Wind against Gyarados, it survives the first two, faints on the 3rd with at least 2 omniboosts - at +2, you outspeed and one-shot every pokemon up next with hidden power - Even if you get hit somehow, nothing can hit you for any more than 25% hp The run probably dies at Brock anyway, but still, the possibility is there!
One thing that might be good would be a ledian ariados tag team. We don't see many evolved pokemon. Also, for a qna, what's your favorite bug type? I know you like drowzee and koffing, so would it be a bug psychic or bug poison pokemon?
What about a moveset of Swords dance/return/drain punch/roost and pray for decent luck against Gyarados? Considering how bad Ledyba is, it'd probably still need heavy physical investment, and last minute move adjustments between Gengar and Lance.
Gen4 added a new interesting helding item : the Metronome. Each time you use the same attack, its power will increase of 10% until 100% (20% after Gen4).
correct answer: evolve the ledyba On a more serious note, you're going to hate this, but double team + silver wind + save state scumming. This is a super extreme case so imo it's warranted, but yeah, you could run through lance with +6 in all your stats.
You can definitely do it, but it might be a lot harder than other bugs. You'll have to get pretty lucky Edit: WOW, I didn't expect the fact that you wouldn't win :0 It's wild how weak Ledyba is
Question: You can organize a 2v2 Tag Team wrestling match, and you can choose any wrestler from any year to compete in their prime. Who do you choose and why?
For future Gen 4 Johto runs, I would suggest getting the metronome item at the game corner. This will boost the power of moves that are used consecutively. Probably would have saved you some time at the Morty fight. Love your content! Keep it up!
Ledyba (or Ledian, rather) is yet another one of those Pokemon that have an extremely likable design, but is so pathetically weak that it's not worth using even if you wanna use some weaker Pokemon for the sake of a challenge. Also *HOLY CRAP HEART GOLD* 🤯
Back when Pokémon XD came out I used an umbreon and a ledian to beat the game. I didn’t know anything about Pokémon stats, and thought it was a good idea
@@17Jroach I play Colosseum and often put together random teams of the shadows you can get just to see if its do-able, I had Ledian in my last run but it was just fodder really. It's main use was using Supersonic.
24:17 MDB, you are insane. That’s why we love you. Your greatest stat is attrition. Your mental fortitude is stronger than a body builder’s physical attack. Can you tell I’ve been playing a lot of DND?
He usually doesn’t do runs from gen 5 or higher because the xp gained from pokemon lower level than you is much lower. But who knows, that does sound interesting 🤷♂️
@@bennyk384 Meh. Gen 7 gives you Poké Pelago with 300 EXP per half an hour when maxed. If you don't mind waiting, you can powerlevel while doing other things. It's a crutch during my UM Ledyba run. Singlehandedly helped me get past the Totem Togedemaru and Mimikyu fights.
Bit of a late comment, but thought I would still give my 2 cents on a solution to the final Lance battle: The simple solution (as I’ve seen another commenter say before) is Swords Dance; with enough setup you can easily overpower all of the threats in the fight before they can even present an issue. The fight plays out in a mostly predictable pattern by replacing Bug Buzz with SD and doing this: SD, SD, Roost, SD, Roost, SD As long as you avoid being frozen for those 6 turns (or thaw out quick enough), the fight is already won, as you now out speed and oneshot everything on Lance’s team. Simply Aerial Ace everything except Aerodactyl which instead falls to one Drain Punch. Obviously this would not be able to carry through Kanto, as even if you maybe could beat Blue you never could beat Red, but it would allow for you to at least enter Ledyba into the hall of fame!
Don't feel bad man. I lost a lot of Pokemon Challenges I did myself. For example, I did a Paras run in Pokemon White 2, and believe it or not I couldn't even get past Ghost Trainer Shauntal. On the majority of runs, I couldn't even make it past her second Chandelure.
Hey man, great to see you on your feet again. Hope you got over and found out what ailed you (might have missed an update about that, now i think about it. Anyway, great to see (hear) you in better shape again!

YASSSSSSS new MDB pokechallenge!!! I clean for a living, and I always have your challenges playing through my headphones 🥰 super stoked for another video to add to the mix!
Theoretically, Choice specs max power(70) HP Rock kills highest dragonite with vitamin cap (100) amount of spatk evs, i mean just for the guarantee, not for the rng. with some speed evs (killing Ratattas) for the Aerodactyl, you outspeed and sweep Birdkeeper Lance We still admire your challenge and your dedication
Thank you for finally playing Heart Gold on your channel. I really appreciate it. Sorry you couldn't complete it. FYI, all of the gym leaders except Janine have low to mid 50s pokemon in Kanto, and Red's team is even harder. I look forward to you completing this game with a better pokemon.
So I watch your videos every evening while settling down to sleep. Earlier tonight I was playing Rogue Galaxy on the PS2 and doing up the bug catching/fighting minigame. A few hours ago Id come across a ladybug and when I caught him my game froze and I lost hours of tedious gameplay, so I quit for the night. Fast forward to now where I'm watching this new video of yours with a ledyba. Its given me PTSD because lo and behold you give him my name: Dusty. What are the chances it all lines up so perfectly lol :')
For the video: My only thought would be a Natural gift strat, where you double team, natural gift a shock berry, and kill the aerodactyl fast. But then you don't have enough room to roost and have 2 other attacking moves, since you waste two slots on NG and double team. Did you ever figure out the hidden power type? For you: So happy to see you doing videos again! Really want to encourage you to work on taking care of yourself and taking off the strain in runs. Please consider using rare candies in lieu of grinding to save your hands and especially thumbs. For instance, using them in the Elite 4 section is more than acceptable, and I think would have saved time. But also earlier, when you needed to get to level 41 to obtain Bug Buzz. I think using rare candies to get to that level for the move, after hitting a roadblock where you needed the move to progress, is more than acceptable, and you should use candy in that situation to save your time, energy, and thumbs. Really rooting for you and hope you'll look at taking care of yourself while you work. On the topic of self care (I'm a massage therapist, so I'm not totally talking out my butt here) you should strongly consider booking a massage with a therapist who has a clinical focus, maybe one who specializes in repetitive motion strain and injury. You should ask for pec minor work specifically (this is one of the muscles that brings our shoulders forward, and tends to become very tight on anyone who spends long hours at a desk), as well as arms and hands. It'll do you a world of good, ask your PT what he thinks too. I'm not sure what the situation with your neck is, you should DEFINITELY clear any massage around the neck with your doctor beforehand, and the MT will want your doctor to have given the okay for working on the neck. Spa massage is relaxing, but a medical oriented massage can change how you move, feel, and live your life. It can be pricy, but more than worth it. Much love MDB, take care of yourself!
I'm sure others have posted this or maybe it's a self imposed rule but I noticed you don't use berries on your runs. I know most of the time it's because you're holding an item for damage boost but certain fights that you don't have said item yet I'm suprised you don't try for berries either to heal or restore pp or a one time status cure. It might make some of these fights a bit easier
This was great, particularly the "Kakuna was really dangerous!" which I don't think I'd ever heard before! Our daughter Bella loves watching these videos together, and she also loves cats. One day, could you do a "cat pokemon" only run? I know depending on game it'd be super easy, but I'm sure you could add a twist to make it interesting and fun? Thanks for all the great content, hope you continue to heal!
Oh, also, if the run is over, could you have a try or two beating it with the evolved form of the pokemon, if possible? Think that'd be pretty cool to see 😀
I am so glad to see all these challenges again. I wish I could do more than a like and a comment! I'm so glad you are feeling even a little bit better now!
Nice video Mah Dry Bread! I feel like I want to do my own Ledyba run in the future although it's not a very strong Pokemon but I like it's design and I think it's interesting and your videos inspire me a lot. Keep up the good work Mah Dry Bread!
Ah love seeing your vids, when I haven’t watched one in awhile it brings me back to the first one I ever saw(abra in platinum) and I start binge watching your challenges again. Good stuff MDB don’t let stupid people get you down❤
... Y'know, in context of these challenges, Clair's attitude after being beaten actually makes a lot more sense. "You've got to be kidding, my team lost to a Trainer with a freaking LEDYBA?! ... No, there has to be a mistake, there's no way I can accept this defeat. (If word got out I lost like that, I'd be the laughing stock of the entire League...)"
My question for the next run? Now that Pokemon Infinite Fusions has been out for a while and is makeing the rounds, do you have any plans on doing any challenge runs / playthrough of it?
@@peachymiku6432 One way I could think to do it is similar to nuzlock rules, but without the perma death. Get your starter, and then you can only catch one pokemon from each route, and have to fuse them in the order you get them. Another way would be more in line with what MDB does now, pick 2 pokemon and only use there fused form for the entire run.
Hey MDB, I did this run with a Ledian (Evolved Form) a few years ago, as far as I can tell Lance is not possible without insane luck, good EVs,, Double Team, and a good Hidden Power. I ended up trying ~20 tries before using XDefends to brute force a win. I don't think this was possible with Ledyba in this ruleset with how you do Runs.
Please just start using rare candies and setting a level limit for each major battle. The last thing any of us would like is for you to get answered and due to having to button mash. I promise you, it's not going to impact anything other than saving your thumbs, your controllers, and your time.
Oh holy crap, I love watching your challenge vids and some of your Let’s Plays so when my question popped up on screen I did a double- no triple-take lol. Thanks for answering my question and thanks for another entertaining and challenging err… challenge 😂
I looked at my comment and should probably clarify- I would like ALL of your Let’s Plays but a series of those lengths are more of a time commitment than a weekly challenge vid; I wish I had time to watch them all- maybe when I retire!
#Question #Q&A ... How often did it happen that a pokemon evolved during a challenge cause you forget to hit B during evolution? .... did it happen at all?
On the topic of things we do over and over again, and food specifically, I eat steak like 4 times a week. There was a point I was eating out like every single day and then it dawned on me that instead of eating sorta ok food, I could instead buy and cook really good food if I just put in the time. And man, steak as often as I want it greatly increased my quality of life.
I would say that you should hack in candies to stop mindless grinding and save your hands/controller. If you want to of course. Also idk if it's the case in hgss but in gsc the hidden power section is only flooded on Wednesdays
Here's a challenge idea; Pokemon (any of them) but you can only use pokemon available on the routes unlocked between Gyms. For an example in pokemon emerald; for Roxanne you'd be allowed to use anything including your starter, as those are initially available to you. After Roxanne, you get the boat to take you to Brawly's island, so you can get any pokemon on that island, and you can even go all the way to slateport, catching any pokemon available, but all previously obtained pokemon must be boxed. After slatebport, the routes above where Plusle and Minum, Elektrike, and Gulpin first appear, so on so forth. When you unlock an HM, to say, use Rock smash, I'd classify whatever you can catch on the other side of the rock smash as an available pokemon! I imagine the grinding in this format would be way worse than single pokemon challenges, cause each and every time you'd have to catch a new team and level them up to your desired outcome. What do you think? :D
- Falkner: Open the first secret chamber in the Ruins of Alph with an Escape Rope, and pick up the items. Lv. 18, Reflect, Light Screen, Mach Punch, Comet Punch
- Bugsy: Level 26, Shell Bell. Reflect, Silver Wind, Mach Punch. I got crits and Bugsy didn't heal.
- Silver: Level 27, Shell Bell. Replace Silver Wind with U-Turn to avoid Spite and exploit Gastly's lower defense.
- Silver: Level 35 (rose to 36 after beating Gastly), Persim Berry. Same moveset. Set up on Gastly twice and outheal the damage with Drain Punch.
- Morty: Level 39, Chesto Berry. Replaced Agility with Substitute. Chip away at the Gastly to try and make Morty use a Hyper Potion, then set up. Gengar has a Sitrus Berry, so it will require 3 hits. Just attack it with U-Turn. The next Haunter can't do anything if you have a sub up, so do that.
- Pryce: Level 50, Shell Bell, Sub and set up on the Seel.
- Jasmine: Level 51. Otherwise ditto (hehe).
- Chuck: Level 53, Sitrus Berry. Return, Swords Dance, Drain Punch and Reflect. Reflect and Sitrus Berry seem to discourage the AI from using Rock Slide.
- Silver: Replaced Reflect with Thief to hit Haunter.
- Ariana: Level 58, Cheri Berry. Drain Punch with Dig.
- Silver: Level 69, BlackGlasses. Replaced Substitute with Agility. Faint Attack broke my sub so I had to use Agility to counteract Icy Wind's secondary effect. Also, couldn't kill Golbat wo the BlackGlasses.
- Will: Replaced Agility back with Substitute. Got to Level 70 during the battle. Set up on the first Xatu. Alternatively, replace Dig with Substitute instead: Agility, Substitute, Aerial Ace, Swords Dance.
- Koga: Got to level 80 with the Rare Candies. Replaced Thief with Aerial Ace. Substitute breaks with Poison Jab. His AI tends to prioritize Double Team on his Crobat unless my HP is low enough. If I keep Agility, I can't learn Reflect.
- Bruno: He's no threat at all. Just replace Reflect with Drain Punch. You can freely set up on the Hitmontop. If I want to keep Agility, I can't learn Drain Punch. Even so, he's easy as long as you prepare a sub before facing Onix.
- Karen: Her Umbreon is pretty safe to sub and set up on unless it uses Payback. Even so, it loves throwing annoying status moves around, so there's that.
- Lance: There's a possibility that Ledyba will NEVER outspeed Aerodactyl wo a boost even at Level 100, but just fighting trainers gives a decent amount of speed EVs, and I avoided speed-lowering natures like the plague anyway even with my lousy 2 Speed IV. It's doable at least at level 100. Set up on his Gyarados, learn Reflect to make it easier, and Substitute if you like. Even with only Aerial Ace and Gyarados' Intimidate, you'll one shot everyone if you set up Swords Dance thrice (I had Lonely and a good attack IV, so it also helped).
I think the key is Swords Dance. Go get it at the Goldenrod game corner. You definitely need Roost. Then an neutral attacking move with high pp. And then a second attacking move for coverage, OR, Double Team. Maybe Swagger if you're feeling extra.
I like this challenge. Challenges in video games are, mostly, fun in general. This one is no exception. MDB's morning voice sounds so chill for some reason. Maybe do that a bit more?

@@maromania7 what about at +1?
@@erica2980 At +1 it would depend on the aerodactyl's nature and a damage roll. but that charizard is still 3 hit KO at +1, and I'm not sure how you're getting a +1 to begin with? If you mean from silver wind, good luck getting that off on top of all the double teams and misses you need.
@@maromania7 there's a choice specs in lake of rage,it could have helped?
My maths says aerocatyl is beatable with hidden power ice, jut not with this ledyba
Ran calculations. Only way of winning is if you
1- Have HP ice, incredibly unlikely
2- Swapped Drain punch and Aerial Ace for HP and Double team via TM while in Lance's room, since you need those two to get there.
3- double team on the gyarados without getting killed first using roost to stall
4- crit the aerodactyl (takes 2 hits, always one-shots in return, can't miss)
5- get enough lucky misses to take down charizard.
I always forget about this pokemon! So glad you did this challenge!
Wow, I never expected one of these challenges to actually fail.
This is actually his third fail, believe it or not! Check his Wobbefet in Emerald run and his Eevee in Red run if you haven't already! It's just been so long since his last fail.
@@peachymiku6432 I thought the eevee one didn’t count as a fail since he made an update video that he could of use struggle to continue a part.
@@FernXD Nope, it's a fail. In that same follow up video he says "Could I have beaten Pokemon Red with one Eevee? Yes. Did I? No." I think in the challenge after it he even mentioned the Eevee run was a failed run.
@@peachymiku6432 oh okay gotcha gotcha.
It’s happened before with Eevee.
You could call the Q&A section Mah-Dry-Answers.
Love the videos!
Sure it technically fails the challenge but you hate to see the little bug work so hard only to come up just short.
so i ran the calcs for anyone intrested DPP aerodactyl vs ledyba
ASSUMING AERODACTYL HAS NO EVs AND NEUTRAL NATURE
aerial ace from ledyba does only 16.1% max. drain punch maxs out at 21.4% restoring a max of 7% health. bug buzz is a 3 hit at max doing 48% meanwhile aerodactyl at level 48 rock slide does 90.4% MAX crit outright kills naturally. aerial ace does 36.5% and 73% on a crit
drain punch does absolutely jack to ALL of lances pokemon being -1 the whole fight so yeah this is damn near impossible espically if lance has good AI and spams aerial ace on aerodactyl with double team this challenge is damn near if not impossible
All 3 of my favorite poketubers post within like 4 hours of each other, and it ends with my favorite one of all. Hope you're doing well today. Thanks for all the hours of entertainment mdb.
Squidge, flygon & mdb?
I don't really think mbd qualifies as a 'poketuber' personally.
@Yuni the Shy Gal it depends on what you base it of. Number of videos then no but number of views on the channel yes
@@Yuni-is-Schrodingers-Fox I mean if Alpharad calls himself a poketuber...
@@godzillagod9752 who tf would base it off number of views? That is the worst method of categorization I've ever heard in my life
I ran a few damage calcs:
- Keep silver wind, obtain hidden power ice or electric
- Silver Wind against Gyarados, it survives the first two, faints on the 3rd with at least 2 omniboosts
- at +2, you outspeed and one-shot every pokemon up next with hidden power
- Even if you get hit somehow, nothing can hit you for any more than 25% hp
The run probably dies at Brock anyway, but still, the possibility is there!
That could help. But, he needs to survive the Water Onix onslaught long enough to be able to muscle through Lance’s team with Hidden Power Ice.
@@shadowtitanx3962 Lance can be beaten with the worst move in HGSS : Present.
correct answer: evolve the ledyba
On a more serious note, you're going to hate this, but double team + silver wind + save state scumming. This is a super extreme case so imo it's warranted, but yeah, you could run through lance with +6 in all your stats.
You can definitely do it, but it might be a lot harder than other bugs. You'll have to get pretty lucky
Edit: WOW, I didn't expect the fact that you wouldn't win :0
It's wild how weak Ledyba is
Question:
You can organize a 2v2 Tag Team wrestling match, and you can choose any wrestler from any year to compete in their prime. Who do you choose and why?
This was a fun run. I missed the premiere just by a bit though. Hope you can revisit Heart Gold soon :D
Yeah, Ledian is one of my faves in gen 2 but it’s so weak it makes me sad
a pokemon with iron fist. 35 base attack and 55 base special attack
@@hungryburger1170 god why did they make ledian so awful
24:17 MDB, you are insane. That’s why we love you. Your greatest stat is attrition. Your mental fortitude is stronger than a body builder’s physical attack.
Can you tell I’ve been playing a lot of DND?
Loved the challenge! The one strategy I could think would be double team, swords dance, and roost, but still not 100% sure that would work
Gen 4 with only punch moves (elemental punches, dynamic punch, focus punch, dizzy punch, etc)
MDB Question: Any plans on doing anymore pokemon challenges after gen 5? I always thought getting to gen 7 with the Rattata runs would be interesting.
Getting there with eevee runs as well.
He usually doesn’t do runs from gen 5 or higher because the xp gained from pokemon lower level than you is much lower. But who knows, that does sound interesting 🤷♂️
@@bennyk384 Once you get to gen 8 though leveling becomes very easy by doing raids.
@@ladyakkyn yeah, you’re right. I totally forgot about that. Someone should let MDB know if he ever tries it.
Haven’t seen a video of yours since you were sick, I hope you’re feeling better and doing better! ❤️ love your videos
MDB Question: Would you consider doing a challenge run in Colosseum and XD or would both the games feel too restrictive to do one?
I fairy regularly do single type playthroughs of XD but other than that they don't have many choices for challenges
Bit of a late comment, but thought I would still give my 2 cents on a solution to the final Lance battle:
The simple solution (as I’ve seen another commenter say before) is Swords Dance; with enough setup you can easily overpower all of the threats in the fight before they can even present an issue. The fight plays out in a mostly predictable pattern by replacing Bug Buzz with SD and doing this:
SD, SD, Roost, SD, Roost, SD
As long as you avoid being frozen for those 6 turns (or thaw out quick enough), the fight is already won, as you now out speed and oneshot everything on Lance’s team. Simply Aerial Ace everything except Aerodactyl which instead falls to one Drain Punch.
Obviously this would not be able to carry through Kanto, as even if you maybe could beat Blue you never could beat Red, but it would allow for you to at least enter Ledyba into the hall of fame!
I'm not sure how "lucky" this ledyba run's gonna be, but I'm here to find out!
We haven't had a run failure in a long time! Nice change of pace. 😊
Hey man, great to see you on your feet again. Hope you got over and found out what ailed you (might have missed an update about that, now i think about it. Anyway, great to see (hear) you in better shape again!
The move relearner in Blackthorn city might be useful (gen IV only) and a beneficial hidden power like ice could possibly maybe win against Lance.
Fitting that your first challenge in my favorite Pokemon game is posted on my birthday. Thanks MDB.
Happy birthday!

For April Fool's, you should do Pokemon Fire Red with only one Mewtwo.
I remember using a Ledian on my Ultra Moon team.
As soon as I saw its stats, I thought that my entire playthrough was a fever dream; because it *one-shot Totem Lurantis.*
With +6 attack?
@@robertharris6092 no, all I remember was using Silver Wind and it just sort of... died?
My brother probably overleveled it a ton when he was playing, but still.
well, it's only 80 base special defense and it's only lv 24, not really surprising tbh, probably was just too overleveled tho.
@@bluebaron6811 uh i know, i was talking about the lurantis special defense, and ledian has 15 more base special attack then ledyba, it's a little bit stronger.
YASSSSSSS new MDB pokechallenge!!! I clean for a living, and I always have your challenges playing through my headphones 🥰 super stoked for another video to add to the mix!
I really do wish they'd give Ledyba a better movepool, stat tweak or regional variant.
It's such a couple of fun designs slept on
Theoretically, Choice specs max power(70) HP Rock kills highest dragonite with vitamin cap (100) amount of spatk evs, i mean just for the guarantee, not for the rng. with some speed evs (killing Ratattas) for the Aerodactyl, you outspeed and sweep Birdkeeper Lance
We still admire your challenge and your dedication
I'm so glad you are able to do this again, even if it it's slowly. i wish you the best MDB :D
Think that'd be pretty cool to see 😀
Great video my dude! Keep it up. Underrated bug type.
Good stuff MDB don’t let stupid people get you down❤
So glad to see you feeling better MDB you got a legion of dedicated fans that got your back
Whoa... How would a challenge run work in that ROM? Now I'm curious!
I promise you, it's not going to impact anything other than saving your thumbs, your controllers, and your time.
wow rare Solo loss. I'm sorry that it happened but great video! Love seeing you back and I"m glad you're feeling better
So glad that you're posting Pokémon challenge videos again.

Q&A
What is your least favorite Pokémon game to replay?

You totally did that on purpose. But I will comment about it anyway, after all, comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm👍
I’m glad you’re choosing to use this remake it’s one of the best in Pokémon history
Making Ho-Oh an HM slave 😭
I've been watching since the wobbuffet only video and love the challenge videos, also enjoyed the pokemon stadium videos.
Question: If you could improve the stats of one Pokémon that you've used in a challenge, which would it be? Love your videos, always a joy to watch!
Oh holy crap, I love watching your challenge vids and some of your Let’s Plays so when my question popped up on screen I did a double- no triple-take lol. Thanks for answering my question and thanks for another entertaining and challenging err… challenge 😂
I looked at my comment and should probably clarify- I would like ALL of your Let’s Plays but a series of those lengths are more of a time commitment than a weekly challenge vid; I wish I had time to watch them all- maybe when I retire!
may be try doing ledian next since its evolved form of this and is pretty terrible too.
I did an Altaria run of HGSS, and it was still insane by the end. iirc, Red has 3 pokemon with blizzard, and its hailing. HGSS Red and Blue are insane
Glad your doing well man love your videos, much love!!
OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY ANSWERED MY QUESTION AT 24:01
Anyway, i'm glad to know you are probably clinicaly insane now :D

- Falkner: Open the first secret chamber in the Ruins of Alph with an Escape Rope, and pick up the items.
Lv. 18, Reflect, Light Screen, Mach Punch, Comet Punch
- Bugsy: Level 26, Shell Bell. Reflect, Silver Wind, Mach Punch. I got crits and Bugsy didn't heal.
- Silver: Level 27, Shell Bell. Replace Silver Wind with U-Turn to avoid Spite and exploit Gastly's lower defense.
- Whitney: Level 30, Shell Bell. Agility, Swords Dance, U-Turn and Drain Punch.
- Clair: Level 60, Sitrus Berry.
- Kimono Girls: Level 65, Shell Bell. Dig, Thief, Swords Dance, Substitute.
Your morning voice sure sounds sick! I was a bit worried :D
Welp, I saw the Ledyba thing and I was like “oooooo, MDB is basically gonna be playing as a bottle of Zinc.” Hopefully it works!
I think the key is Swords Dance. Go get it at the Goldenrod game corner. You definitely need Roost. Then an neutral attacking move with high pp. And then a second attacking move for coverage, OR, Double Team. Maybe Swagger if you're feeling extra.
