  • This route begins 350m up at the Honister slate mine where it is £5 for parking all day.
The initial ascent once again i very steep although it doesn't last long until you collect your first Wainwright with the second being less than 10 minutes away.
This route has 1500m of ascent in which Great Gable requires some scrambling.

Some great views there, Dave, of the fells! Well done! Given me some thoughts and ideas on my next walk in the lakes. Looking forward to your next video.

Buttermere/Honister are places you don't need to walk very far for some of the best views this country has to offer.. Id recommend venturing here out of peak season as it was extremely busy on the roads towards Keswick after.

Great informative and honest videos Dave, in honest I mean true to life. I too feel the first fell of the day, and like yourself I seem to get a bit of a boost for the rest of them. Doing this walk in 2 weeks time 👍

I really enjoy this area, there are so many different loops and paths you could take depending on how you are feeling at a particular point.. :)

Hi Dave. Absolutely cracking video pal. Really enjoyed that. I’ve all but Haystacks and Great Gable of those to do. Thanks for sharing mate. Great that the weather cleared up for you. All the best pal. 😃⛰🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

much easier going up great gable via styhead stretcher box path.. unpleasent scrambling from the windy gap ascent so that'd be my advice :) thanks for watching!

@@daveostlemountainman I did Great Gable from Kirk Fell. Great scramble up Kirk Fell via Kirk Fell crags.

That was some hike Dave, you got a number of iconic peaks. Shame about the clag on Great Gable but enjoyed your descent. Haystack to Fleetwith Pike is deceptively long too but really interesting. I agree on the summit hogging but after 5 mins i'd just ask them to move over or just move in myself and do what they do. Great video, regards, Ashley

Great Gable is quite difficult going up that way.. much easier from the styhead tarn path.. was surprised to see so many kids on the scramble.. i over reacted a bit bout the summit hogging, i was just tired by that point and wanted to do my bit and go home. thanks for watching :)

Fair old walk that Dave..we did it and took in Kirk Fell at the end instead of Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike.
