the last bit with the metal guitars mixed with the folk instruments almost reminds me of something out of Bloodywood's catalog despite them being from a completely different part of the world!

That last chorus when the heavy kicked in gave me chills, so intense
So amazingly intense, I have to go back and keep listening to it.
Seriously, I nearly sobbed. Took me back to hearing it the first time when I was an emotional teenager back in the 90's.

With the light bars set to blue/purple, I kept expecting them to switch to red and Colm to tear into "Celtic rock" mode... and instead he just spent the full 3:52 reminding everyone that he's an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist IN ADDITION TO being a professional composer and an internet sensation of a singer. "Iris" is one of the most memory laden songs in my life, and this version is absolutely wonderful. There are times I've listened to the song and felt like the quiet, resigned sound Johnny used was perfect. Other times, it feels like it needs to build to this seething rage against the vagaries of fate and the pain of the world. You've captured that so perfectly here.

I was only a toddler, barely a child in the latter half of the 2000s, but I was old enough to remember songs like this when my parents would play them on occasion.

I was speechless the first listen but now I think I have enough words for a comment. This song was a big part of my youth. I was a very angsty teenager. You managed to take a song that’s already one of the most iconic songs of its time and elevate it in ways I didn’t think were possible. Well done, Colm, well done.

Iris is probably the song that means the most to me in the entire world, and it's really rare that I come across a cover of it that I like. This one is in some ways very different than the original, but stirs my soul in all the same ways, and I love it.
And the yell at the end is just perfect. It reinforces the pain and loneliness, which I think is the backbone of the original but sometimes gets diminished in covers.
Too freaken talented. Cello. The voice, the banjo and the violin were not enough, you have to master the flipping Cello!
