Darth Vader finds Starkiller Galen Marek on Kashyyyk after he arrives in Star Wars The Force Unleashed. He fights a Jedi outcast that is hiding Galen and then takes Galen Marek to train as his apprentice. This is an awesome cutscene. - Розваги

The way Vader so quietly and solemnly said “A son” felt like a moment where his humanity returned slightly.
The child was not only that man’s apprentice but also his son.
Seconds after: *crunch*

His mother, his son, the mere concept of a son
@@PJOZeus I mean he never had a father, his mother died right in front of him, he killed his wife, he never told his daughter that he’s her father, and he chopped his sons hand off.
@@PJOZeus it's seems so. Apteqntly there have been moment in the comics where he as acted different than normal because of family, sons, wives ect. But its either a trigger for him to get angry and murder Happy or a strange way to try and reconnect with what he has last.
You can hear Darth Vader’s humanity when he says “A son?”
MathieuYates_15 I know, he sounded so vulnerable.

That’s why I love the remaster, original just has “ah, a son.” Then crosses his arms, while this one he goes “a son?” And actually reaches out to the child

That's because he's trying to infiltrate his body to take back control from Vader.
No he's just finding an apprentice
It wasn’t Anakin whatsoever, Vader just needed an assassin to do his bidding, just like how Sidious took Maul.

@@thatguy8777it did, in fact the moment Vader said "A son" I really believe Vader briefly came back as Anakin Skywalker because the mere sight of the child reminds Vader what life he could've had as both a husband and father had he not turned to the dark side, which even tho this is non canon, makes it depressing as hell

I just thought the same thing, it’s such a cool small detail too show us where we’re at inn the timeline and bridge the clone wars era and the imperial era, I just love it
Broooo, i never even noticed that. I’ve played this game so many times even recently and i never noticed the difference in the helmets and armor. I feel dumb and now grateful for knowing this awesome detail
I was just thinking about that. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed.
I wish the Shadow Trooper design from this game was used for this early Stormtrooper outfit. That would be the coolest thing ever.
When Vader said "a son", you hear emotion within him. Anakin Skywalker is still in there. A moment of kindness, even though he used him for his own gains.
That’s debatable. Vader was tough on him during his training hence all the scars. He probably would’ve been better off being killed by those imperials
Orphaning a kid & forcing him to become his own personal assassin that Vader manipulates to bring down a group of resistance fighters is a weird thing to call kind.
An action is “kind” if it is done not for the sake of oneself, but for that of others. However, like you have pointed out, Vader merely had his own interests in using Galen for his own gains. So while Vader does indeed save Galen, and while it may appear to be kind from first glance, the intention to be kind was not there, so I wouldn’t really describe this as a kind action of Vader. Beware of Vader’s deception!
Seems like very tough love

@@chaoticboi2257 you actually can, the whole reason that force sensitives were ever found was usually because they accidentally used the force, and the Jedi found out about it. Classic Gaslighting Vader
0:26 this whole scene I think was a short lived moment where Anakin overcame Vader, as before the troopers march in you see Vader putting his hand out and walk slowly towards the boy and yeah sure it could’ve been Vader was trying to sneak up on the kid but I like to think that Anakin came out of the darkness for a second and tried to calm a scared child and when the troopers march in and are about to execute the child I think Anakin’s protective nature and rage shined through but releasing his rage also sent Anakin back into darkness and Vader returning to claim his apprentice

One of my favorite Vader lines
For those who accuse starkiller overpowered in this moment, I'd just like to note that this is a very instinctive usage of the force and because he was born from 2 jedi, he will be stronger than the average force sensitive. This is also a video game so the power levels will be bulked up for the players enjoyment. If people feel that I am wrong then that's fine because yall are allowed opinions. But the point I'd like to make here is that starkiller is not as overpowered as he seems in the actual cannon of the legends continuity as he is nerfed significantly in the books and comics. If anyone reads this thanks for your time and have a good day.
No no, you have a point. Starkiller's parent(s) is/are Jedi Knight(s), so it's obvious that he would have a strong enough connection to the force at birth. Much more, being a several year-old child rather than a newborn.
Also, you have a good day too, man. Thanks.
My headcanon is, that it's a combination of Starkiller's talent and Vader just being surprised. Vader may be the chosen one, but he's not immune to being surprised.
So who here understands they basically put starkiller in the center of the deathstar and used him like mooncake from final space :/
People also claim Starkiller is OP when he altered an already falling Stardestroyer and using Force Lightning. Both of those are impressive, but the thing they need to remember is this:Starkiller was taught by Darth Vader. Anything Galen can do, Vader could've too had he not been defeated on Mustafar.
When you said nerf and not overpowered I was thinking of balances, and the first thing that came to my mind was his Sith seeker 😂😂
See, this is the difference between " A powerful yet untrained Force user " like Starkiller and a " Mary Sue- Look at me, I'm amazing in everything" like Rey: Galen Marek didn't use a mind trick on Vader to save his father, he didn't engage him a deadly fight, becoming stronger than him just like that. NO, he was a scared kid that used the Force ( probably for the first time) to disarm Vader while he wasn't paying attention, only to surrender 1 second later... He showed his potential, nothing more.
The difference is one was is boy and the other is a girl. You can’t get past the last part is all. One day you and people like you might mature.

“You were weak when I found you”
Literally 3 seconds before “ I sense someone far more powerful” and gets his lightsaber jacked
the sith lie
He didn't in this case. I think what he sensed was Galen's raw force potential, which surpassed that of his father, hence "I sense someone far more powerful." He was weak from Vader's point of view because he was not trained yet.
The thing I love about this scene is how everything happens in the span of a few moments. A potential spark of empathy, before the gears of a plan start turning, yet it all happens so fast that it's unclear if he even knew why he decided to save him.
"You were weak when I found you."
Starkiller as a toddler straight up force snatched Vader's saber out of his hand, yes, weak.
There's something I can't help but notice about Galen. His fighting style.
Vader uses a modified version of Djem So, a variant of the 5th form of lightsaber combat. It's an form that prioritizes aggressive action without creating a weak defense.
Galen uses the Shien variant of Form V, which uses a backwards lightsaber grip to prioritize blaster deflection. (Not surprising given the era)
There's only a handful of Force adepts I know who use Shien like that. The first one that comes to mind is Ahsoka Tano, Anakin's padawan. Doesn't sound like a coincidence. Now I'm not saying that Ahsoka had a hand-in with Starkiller's training, (would be an interesting What-If episode though, if they ever made one) but still. Interesting.
I think it would be interesting to see starkiller come back in the Ashoka show as a anti hero just finding his way. Or they could bring him back in the obi wan series
Since the same guy trained those 2, you could say there will be a lot of similarities between them, both in power, abilities and philosophy, but their are going to be opposites of one other when it comes to emotional maturity. Ashoka was able to outgrow anakin's irrational fear of loneliness, while i think galen inherited it. God, i would love a story where they meet and face each other

That would actually be wholesome, despite how much of an ass this version of Vader was after this moment.
Even more of an evil man than in other material, which is interesting, as I did wish his more tragic characteristics could of been explored more, but thankfully there is plenty of new material out there that does so really well.
