    • @jimmyryan5880
      @jimmyryan5880 8 років тому +9

      At least you noticed the "weird" in the title because it seems to be lost on most people. It's not a travel show, it's about people reacting to weird things they haven't seen before and not representing the normal things in a region because odds are they already have the normal burgers or doughnuts or sushi or whatever.

    I love that they try to address the comments. The problem isn't that they take things that aren't from the US. I'm sure they're all from the US. The problem is that they go with the weird obscure things no one knows about instead of the staple images of each category. And if they do end up choosing a well known item, it's a shittier version of that well-known item.

    • @Ussnowbunny
      @Ussnowbunny 5 років тому +6

      not to mention, they are having someone in Ireland cooking and or baking all these items. They aren't actually eating donuts "from" the US, someone in Ireland made them the way they think they are over here. smh.

      His disclaimer was disingenuous. "Found" in America? What does that mean? The recipes? The names? The donuts themselves? I have lived in several regions in the U.S. during my many years and only the chocolate chip cookie dough donut is one I've seen before.

    • @katg5638
      @katg5638 6 років тому

      Lady Bolton disclaimer... lol if they are actually in ireland i would be surprised and each of the donuts looked the same just with something different thrown on top. They can say that they were from all over America, but they were not. Doughnuts were same color and size. Lay you odds someone on the other side of the camera was just tossing toppings on after spreading goop. Dont get all heartbroke an shake your head at people for reacting; this is what FACTS wants. They want views and reactions.

    • @katg5638
      @katg5638 6 років тому

      Mathew Fullerton you havent "seen" you have most likely seen a much better version then the slop they portray as "found in America." Remember folks there has already been an admission of false accents so dont believe everything you see/hear on youtube.

    • @GekoHayate
      @GekoHayate 8 років тому +1

      They wouldn't need the disclaimer if they put "strange" and "weird" or "stereotypical" or "novelty" before some of the earlier videos. Doing an American Burger episode without featuring a classic burger would be like making a video on Irish beers and not featuring Guinness. You can find a classic burger anywhere in the states and you can find Guinness anywhere in Ireland. What madman makes a patty out of quinoa? Or cauliflower?
      Or it would be like making a Scottish food video without at least 3 or 4 Braveheart jokes. They are breaking out of the box with their format and it scares me.

    When I was a little kid in Oakland, there was a house on a corner on the way to my school that had a donut shop add3ed onto it where everyone else had a front yard (this was in a residential neighborhood btw, people were a lot more relaxed then about such things). And the couple that lived in the house made fresh donuts every morning that were the most amazingly flaky and yummy things you could pop into your mouth. Because they were hand made with love and there was no skimping for profit going on.
    Our salvation will be going back to small businesses. And the donuts will get better too.

  • @redbayly
    @redbayly 6 років тому +1

    Ya'll should've tried a caramel and fried chicken doughnut. My local doughnut shop does a bunch of specialty flavors now and again and that one was really popular. They also did a ginger and pear doughnut (which my mother says is wonderful), a lavender doughnut, and a red velvet cake doughnut.

      +Nadia Mohamed I love Facts (to me they're a little better than Buzzfeed but that's my opinion), so i don't give them crap like some do. For food, I think that makes people go crazy, and in an old video someone commented saying that they do not have the actual"food resources" like we have here. I don't know if that's the case it could be maybe. But people need to chill a bit and enjoy the video. For those still hating the video, i know everyone has an opinion but come on now give the people at Facts some slack, I'm pretty sure they're doing the best they can. Sorry for my calming rant, but that's how I feel. It's just a video and they're doing the best they can.

  • @b.ashley9222

    I'm American. I've never had these, and guess what? That's perfectly fine. It doesn't mean these don't exist. The video has "weird" in the title for a reason.
    Halfway across the country from me, people hold a festival for the mass consumption of fried bull testicles. I don't think these donuts existing in the US is anywhere near being in question. It's not like their episode on Thanksgiving. Nothing is being misrepresented here.
    TLDR: Enjoy the freakin video and stop complaining about never having heard of these "weird" foods. You'll be happier.

    • @sergeantbigmac
      @sergeantbigmac 8 років тому

      Novelty, weird, they both have the same effect in this context, ie getting Americans (their largest audience) to clickity click.

    • @peanutjelly727
      @peanutjelly727 8 років тому

      they don't, though. the word "weird" has negative connotations and people don't like feeling like they're being misrepresented. and you don't just see these types of comments from americans on these channels. go to the buzzfeed comments section of similar videos on youtube and you're bound to see comments like "i'm polish and i've never heard of any of those foods before."

    • @ErraticConduct

      That's what I was thinking... a plain donut should be a soft beige, fluffy and more spread out than tall. I think they made these donuts themselves... so their not actually true "American" donuts, even if they got the toppings right.

    How about maybe you just say "weird donuts" instead of "weird American Donuts" if its such a big deal, it will avoid all of this mess. I mean hey if some random Welsh guy made a Bara Brith donut and decided to put the recipe online would it be a donut to represent all of Wales because you can find it online. I get that you use "America" or "Americans" to appeal to a bigger audience but when you target certain people it makes your comment section not a pleasant place to be for a majority of your viewers. I understand where you're coming from because those comment are annoying but so are many other comments on here makes you seem biased. Other than that I love the show there is just no need to make a fun environment hostile (towards the viewers).

    • @martekaiser1121
      @martekaiser1121 8 років тому

      Hi dear! Just wondering how are they making this a hostile environment? I mean yeah some of the reactions are really .. really.. well far past rude, but why should Facts change the names they give their videos, just so some people will not be offended? These people will always find something to hate about, changing a name will not make this people all of a sudden warm and fuzzy inside.
      Anyway looking forward to your answer :)

    • @bobstevens5636
      @bobstevens5636 8 років тому +2

      marte kaiser That part was towards the viewers everyone tears each other apart in these comment sections over the dumbest things. It's not just certain people its almost everyone.They sort of picked a side and it caused people to come out and say dumb things like yea Americans are so dumb and ignorant. It just makes it not a pleasant environment when you are an American when you just want to enjoy a video and want to see what intelligent things people have to say in the comment section but it is pure dribble. I mean most of the people in the comment section are children but why give a reason for people to react are be flat out assholes to each other because someone said "I've never seen that before". Thanks for your reply.

    • @HolandaChiquita

      Well I think they use the name "American" just to draw in viewers from the USA. As most of their viewers are from that country. It's also why they spelled "mom" instead of "mum" on Mothersday and why they react to so many thinks specifically from the USA.
      I can hardly blame them, they have to make certain content suited for viewers from a certain group.

    You Really should try actual american classics. If your going to call them american they should be something that actual americans would actually eat. These are the free samples that restaurants have and then they never sell them because they are shit. Its funny but just because an american made it doesn't make it an american donut. It's like calling the statue of liberty French. It was made by the French but it's not consider french in and of it's self.
